Is it almost like the disc is being scratched?

My Xbox has been making that noise since as far back as I can remember. But bad has ever resulted from it.

My last 360 was overheating, so the games would sometimes stop loading at times. I can pretty much hear it wind up and then all of a sudden, it'll stop. Imagine a car going full speed and suddenly braking.

About 2 weeks ago mine started making a sound like 2 engines revving at the same time. It stopped about 3 days ago.
