What should be done?
Because I'm definately doing one of them.

granted I have only played 6 missions. But a rental should be fine. Its not a terrible game, but its not terribly good either.

Yeah I was thinking, possible a rent first... Because you cant like, unspend 60 dollars. So if I like it, I may just buy it.
But could you imagine replaying the single player? Like does it look like it may have a good replay value?

I just rented it today (finally found a store that had one available), and it's not a bad game at all... but as stallion said, it's not a great game either. The stages start to repeat themselves after awhile (and I'm not even to mission 20 yet), and I can see that getting very boring toward the end. The game play itself is fun, but the way the game plays, it's a 'more of the same' type on each mission, not really adding anything new to the mix as it goes. You could argue that the skills, items and clothing you unlock 'freshens' it as it goes, but to me it doesn't give it enough. I personally think it's a great one time through game, but I don't see myself coming back to it after I finish it.
I might also add, it's setup much like the Hitman series. The characters all have patterns that are the same each time you play the level. However they reuse the same layouts quite a bit (which is what I meant by repeating themselves), and barely mix up the AI patterns in these variants. Even the mission objectives are usually in the same buildings as the previous time through the map. Regardless, I still say it's worth a rent and play through.

Thanks for all the information.
One last thing... Do you think the achievements are/will [be] easy?

I'm leaning towards easy, but time consuming (which I believe is the overall feeling on this board). I'm playing through on hard, and so far have had little trouble getting rank 5's on the maps (hit a snag on 16 though, hate following people).

Alright, well I'll probably end up renting it tomorrow. As I've said, thanks for the info. :)

A lot of fun to play, but it becomes really REALLY repetitive. You should be able to knock down a lot of achievements quickly if you go for it, but it really isn't long enough to merit the buy I think unless you really think it will have staying power after beating the game.

There should be a neither option. I played the demo and didn't care for it at all, but then again it's just a demo. However I won't be renting or buying.

I hated the Rainbow Six demo but I love the game.

I have to go with the Rent option. I downloaded the demo and was not impressed with the play at all. This had been on my buy list until I played the demo and will now wait until next year when I can pick it up for $20. I'll save my $60 for now to buy Two Worlds.

Well sadly, I went to go rent this at Hollywood Video today, and they had the box behind the display case. So I go up there happier than all hell, because I totally forgot I downloaded the demo, and I played it today, so I wanted to rent it. So I go there, and like I said they have the case behind the display case, and I go up there and they say there is a mistake and there is no game.
So I'm stuck with DW5 and The Darkness... My life pretty much sucks.:woop:

I would recommend buying it if your into games like this. I was worried it was going to be terrible beacuse the demo was very painful, but playing for awhile it's actually enjoyable...

RENT!!! some1 got it for me as a gift because the demo waas amazing, the game is way different... It is mostly at night and not very vivid, definitly a rent. I played at my friends house before I took it home and I let him keep it for a while (thats how bad it was!)

I'd say buy it if your a fan of this sort of genre but if it's just for achievements then it's a rental.

This game can get very engaging if you give it a chance; but as for actually wasting more than $5 on it...no.

I've always been a fan of the series so for me it was a buy...definately a fresh change of pace from the usual slew of FPS...

It's basically the same as the original Xbox version with a couple new moves items that are helpful, but not awesome, marginally better graphics, and online co-op. If you're a fan of the series or stealth games then maybe rent it. Do not buy.

This is a last-gen game, marginally better than tenchu 3 but I'm not even sure. I was a huge tenchu fan, but this one is the limit: it's a very lazy, totally unpolished and unchallenging game that you shouldn't consider buying now that next-gen stealth is finally upon us (assassin's creed).

IMO the PS2 tenchu games were better

kind of a tough decision...becuz if u want all the achivements i would buy it cuz otherwise ur gonna be really bored of beating the game 3 times or if u wanna keep renting this game or just have a big late fee..im working on my last difficulty setting and its taken me 1 week to get to mission 20 cuz of how boring it is

I'd buy it. I got it for £15 pre-owned in GAME. You can take your time getting the achievements and its really fun to play. A great example of "Graphics don't mean everything". Online is fun with mates :)

Totally agree, got it cheap on Amazon and totally love it on co-op with my mate.
Nothing better than him going all quiet and stealthy and then theres me screaming weeeeeeeeeee down the mic and getting aggro from everyone and fight them :woop:

Game is highly repititive and I lost interest very fast. I don't believe I could put the time into going for 1K on this one.

i traded someone phantasy star universe for this since i got 1000/1000 on PSU :)
so i actually spent £10 for it, but that was the original price of PSU.
it's well worth a buy. if you're getting it for the achievements then you could get them within a week if you put your mind to it, but i prefer to take my time and play it when i feel the need.
its easy to pick up but hard to put down...

This helps, I tried the demo and thought it was ok but never knew how the full game was

for those wondering how long it takes to get the 1000/1000 it took me 37 hours, and thats with an additional run through to get the tomikichi's i missed.
if you make sure to get them each level as you go then it'd be a lot quicker.
