Would love to hear opinions on the best cars for drifting! I'm currently using the dodge viper but it's wild! Any suggestions? We could create a list with cars and setting to help the community :D
I'm still liking my Nissan 240SX, dodge viper is crazy on this game.

screw the car anyone have any tips as to how to drift good. i totally sucked on the tutorial levels. any insider tips would be appreciated or maybe if anyone knows of a youtube vid where someone assists. i avoided drifting events in shift 1. i did get the hang of drifting in forza 3 to get the drifting achieve but the drifting in shift 2 seems way to touchy to me i always spin out. this also could of been cause i only used the car they give you to practice with maybe if i use a better car i will do better

Sadly I don't think you will find it any easier with different cars, I'm struggling with 4 different cars on certain events and some are almost impossible to get any points to finish in the top 3. I've played and mastered drifting in Forza, Dirt, PGR, Grid and Shift but drifting in this one is just retarded I hope someone can post a good setup and tips on how to stay in a straight line for starters.

mannn i feel so dumb. i was trying to use the left stick to compensate the drifts when you dont need too. you can let the car drift to the right and just ease it left and throttle. i thought you needed to move the left stick right and left to control the drift. guess not in this game.

Honestly it gets easier over time mate! I was awful at the start and could not even get out of the drift school lol, but after time I'm now passing the events although there is a lot of re-starting going ;p.
It seems that it's to sensitive as soon as you realize the RT responds in comparison to how much it's depressed you sort of learn to feather touch it!
I'm loving the drifting now :D

I started by using my Works converted Shelby GT500, it was awful. Just using the 240sx you start with now, got 16 first places so far. Tried a 350z but too tail happy. Need something with more power tho for the longer shallow drifts.

im using the team need for speed mazda rx-8 but im having trouble with the rival battle the last race on easy you need 1573 and i can only get around 1400. i think im gonna try a slower car the TNFS mazda rx-8 has a pretty solid acceleration so i think it makes me go too fast. im really liking the drifting but i honestly just wanna beat the darn rival as that will be my 5th and only 4 more to go.

yeah drifting in this is wicked i think, using the controller that is.. steering wheel is rubbish..
add me up can try beat each others scores..
havent played much. been using the drift alliance 240sx just need to upgrade it abit alittle slow on the wider bends but will get there eventually..
gonna have a look for another car see if i can find something better to use.
on forza i used the nissan 370z that car was back-end happy though hard to control

best car i've found is the challenger concept, pure american muscle, fully modded 1196bhp.
All you need to do is turn it sideways and but ya foot down, almost 1200 roaring horses will make sure those wheels keep spinning,
Plus night time drifts make it look about like knightrider.

i used the TNFS rx-8 for the longest then switched to the basic car you get in the drift tutorial and did pretty well. i found slower and steady was better for me.

yeah that mazda rx8 would be better if it was slightly slower but dont think you can edit those cars so might buy one from stock and tune it that way.
some of those drift tracks are really hard.. you know how to lock a car to certain tracks? it says you can group them but dont know where that option is

Been using the original drift car they gave you. Won every event so far. Drifting is ridiculous in this game. My best advice is rely alot more on throttle than on steering. And when you do throttle feather it like CRAZY! unless its a big long turn, then floor it. Just takes alot of patience and time.

As you start to get better I Recomend the Lexus LSF and AMG SLS :D amazing cars

Do you upgrade your drift cars all the way?

Originally I was using the Silvia S15 drift and doing pretty well, I had upgraded it to a pi of 996 I think with 438bhp.
Now I'm using a Toyota Corolla ae86 with it upgraded upto a 770 pi also with not a huge amount of bhp with 440, pretty much the same as my S15 but handles better for me which I put down to it's wheelbase and weight. Oh and I got a regional best score for an event on Miami just after switching.

Do you upgrade your drift cars all the way?
I found that if you go crazy with the upgrades you can create a monster that you can't control :(
I advise just lightening the car and Chang for a more powerful engine and get as much Torque as possiable

I used left stick + gas to control the drift and line it up for the next corner.
I used a mixture of the original nissan with 160 performance index and bmws with 500PI (can't remember model) and 990PI (E92).
I think I used a lotus for one event for a laugh.

Drifting is hard in this game. But after a bit of practice I've gotten quite good. I tend to forget playing FPS games that RT is an analogue button. I've found that each car has a sweet spot of just the right amount of throttle to give it. Rather than other games where I used to pump the trigger to drift, here you have to hold and adjust.
The Shelby GT500 with no upgrades is pretty good.

Drifting in this game is great once you get used to it. I used the car you get from completing the tutorial, tuned it to be a drift car and put it on elite handling. Completed all drift events relitivly easily, but really struggled on the very last one, only manged a second place after about 30-40 tries but it was enough to win the event and get the car, so i left it at that.

i really have problem in the last series thats head to head with the rival.
i have completed 3/4 but the last miami remains and i can't seem to nail it no way.
it needs 1400something but using the silvia that you got while training it's a ridiculously high amount to hit..
i have tried also several other cars but can't seem to be able to control taht much horsepower.

Drifting isn't the easiest thing in this game but is sure isn't as hard as some people say... You just have to keep at it and you'll get there eventually. About the cars, like somebody else already said, don't go crazy on the engine/turbo upgrades.
The 3 cars I've found really easy to drift with are obviously the Drift Alliance car you get from the tutorials, the Lexus IS-F and the Toyota Supra.
On both the IS-F and Supra don't buy any upgrades which increases horsepower or torque. Just upgrade them with all the suspension, clutch, and brake upgrades. Don't upgrade the tyres though because you don't want too much grip. Also you can try out which weight reduction works best for you. On the IS-F I've reduction pack 3 while on the Supra I've no reduction at all. Body kits can be added if you want, doesn't make any difference on how the car handles. What you might wanna try as well is put small size rims on the front and big on the back. Don't know if it works for all cars but it seemed to make my cars more stable and easier to control.
Give the above things a try and like I said earlier, keep at it and you'll get the hang of it.
Good luck!!

The best one is the Mazda RX-7 (fd-35) (or somethin???) buy every upgrade level 3 except for the tires, make them level 2. No advanced tuning, except for for the steering lock, push it to the max. Btw, don't buy the works kit!!! NEVER buy the works kit for a drift car. Make a nice design with your vinyls, and you've got a great car!!! Put big BBS wheels underneath it on 20", I mean the ones with the red line, they're called time trail or something!!! But of course, styling is all you're own choice!!!
