Anime fights you enjoyed

Out of all the anime you've seen, what were some of the fights you most enjoyed? Any anime, doesn't have to be in video format like I'm doing, just name some fights you really enjoyed.

I'll start off with, for me, the best pure fighting anime I've ever seen: Hajime no Ippo. There's some great fights throughout, a lot of emotion, heart and intensity.

Takamura vs. Yoshiaki Yajima

Not really a fight this one; just the first display of how much of a beast Takamura (that name...sounds familiar) really is. Takamura gets dropped early on the first round, to the shock of many, and all hell breaks lose after that.

This poor sap didn't know what he was getting into and gets KTFO badly. I mean badly.

Takamura vs. Bryan Hawk

For the WBC Junior Middleweight World Championship. Hawk ("Taka" in japanese lol) is a cocky son bitch, but this is Takamura's toughest fight by far. Brutal fight and you feel every punch. Definitely in my top 10 best anime fights.

This is just the tip of the iceberg of fights for this anime that I enjoyed, but I gotta include a few others now.

Goku vs. Cell

What totally got me in this fight was the speed they were fighting at, and it was even better than the manga version. Goku getting outclassed by a superior fighter is just awesome and just shows you how Goku wasn't the strongest anymore.

Goku vs. Vegeta I & II

At least the anime got the second fight right because it was just not that great in the manga. And it don't matter if Goku was stronger, the fact is he never beat Vegeta one-on-one and got KTFO in the second, so suck it bitches. :mad:

Edit: I love Vegeta's Japanese voice actor. His scream is just...wow.

Rock lee vs. Gaara

Ain't gonna lie, this is top 3 best anime fights in Naruto history in my book. Anyone thought that Naruto was a shitty anime needs to watch this shit. This is when the anime was actually good.

The subs are a bit messed up in this vid, and it's been flipped, but it was the only one I could find that had the entire fight in one video. Only missing a few scenes.

Kimimaro vs Gaara/Rock Lee from Naruto. Everything after that doesnt count. I know that if Kimimaro was not on his dying breaths from that cancer, there would have been a lot of tears on some Gaara/Lee fans pillows that night.

But my best is Himura Kenshin vs Makoto Shishio from the 2nd chapter of the Rurouni Kenshin Tv series. Jesus H. Christ what were they thinking with Makoto's bandages and his sword. When he holds up Kenshin by his neck and explains to him that his sword is serated only because his bandages are combustable and then precedes to cut his wrist- causing an explosion in Kenshin's face was just toooo much.

Jin and Mugen vs Kagetogi
I mean honestly. We follow these guys the entire series and they beat everyone's ass. And here comes a guy that makes them look like amateurs. Sick stuff. Jin basically had to commit suice to kill him.

Admiral Kizaru vs 3 Supernovas
This isn't really a fight more than it's an absolute beatdown. To set this up, the 3 Supernovas are experienced very dangerous pirates that Kizaru wants to either catch or destroy. The Roaring Lion basically plays music to cause explosions, but notice how these poor bastards get taken apart. I love Kizaru's voice- the uncaring destroyer. And yes, notice how the 2nd supernova (forgot his name) isn't even looking when he gets gets kicked in the face. That's what you get when you're up vs someone who kicks the speed of light.

The original Dragonball had some very good fights, such as Goku vs. Jackie Chun, Goku vs. Tien Shinhan, Jackie Chun vs. Tien Shinhan, etc etc.

Ichigo vs. Byakuya

To me, this was the first "mega fight" of the show, equivalent to the Goku vs. Frieza fight in my book. This scene was the most instense.

I hadn't read the manga version of this fight when the episode first aired, but they did a heck of a job with the animation as well as adding some additional scenes to the fight (Grimmjow dance FTW!).

This is when Grimmjow was a bad mother fucker.

Holy fucking shit. What more can you really say about this guy? We all knew he was powerful, but this fight truly showed how fucking beastly this man is. This was down right rape.

Crona's fights in Soul Eater are some of my favourite out of any anime I've seen so far ;)

Ack. Taka beat me to it. Grimmjow dancing is one of my favorite images of the Bleach anime. His two fights with Ichigo were the best animated eps of the series. I can only hope Ichigo/Aizen gets the same beautiful treatment. I also enjoyed Aizen's first appearence (his "coming out" party) where he first took apart people. He caught Renji, Komamura and Ichigo's zanpaktos with his fingers and seemed shocked by how much ass he wasn't kicking. I knew then he would be destroying people later on.


And even though I didn't particularly like luffy vs Lucci as much as I thought I would, Luffy's 2nd gear jet gattling gun was ... epic. Try to count the punches.

For me, action isn't everything. I enjoy a "mumbo jumbo technical" fight as well. This one features one of my fav Captains owning an Espada.

Going to switch this up a bit. It's not anime, but they sure are the top American animated series. Supe vs Darkseid from Justice League Unlimited. Fight is the best of the series with of course Batman making a badass mockery of Darkseid's omega beam. I think he still holds the title for the only person to avoid that thing.

Eiji Date vs. Ricardo Martinez II

This was just heartbreaking to watch. It's like watching one of your boxing heroes get demolished really badly by a younger fighter. They both fought each other once before with Ricardo coming out on top. Then comes the rematch. You want Date to win, to make a glorious comeback. Martinez crushes all of that.

Date didn't stand a chance and got demolished twice by Martinez.

Priscilla vs. Teresa/Irene/Sophia/Noel

From Claymore anime. Poor Teresa...strongest character in the series and she gets taken out by a cheap shot by the then #2 strongest. Priscilla becomes out of control after her squad is ordered to kill Teresa. It doesn't go very well and we see the first awakened being of the series.

This is like a flashabck and happened before Clare, the proganatist, even becomes a Claymore.

And hell, anything to hear Hidan's wicked voice is worth watching again, isn't it? And I know, I know- calling this team kakashi vs Akatsuki isn't right because Ino and Choji basically were punching bags the entire fight. But Shika and Kakashi picked up the slack. Well, if there's one thing I love about anime and manga...it's the fights. So where to begin? Note that I'm probably going to point out in these fights where they could have taken an easy victory.

Dragon Ball Z: A series that pretty much is just fighting, but some awesome fights at that. Unfortunately, they often repeat common plotpoints (which I'll point out).

Goku and Piccolo vs. Raditz.

The first fight of the series (in general) against a Saiyan, clearly Raditz outclasses both fighters with his own abilities though because of being so arrogant and not careful, he sets himself up to be attacked by a Kamehameha (that he blocks with the palm of his hand, though leaves it synged) and then is caught TWICE by Goku, whom he tricks the first time and then can't avoid an attack the second. Raditz's main problem this entire fight was his ARROGANCE. On several occassions he'd let the other fights do whatever they wanted, because he was overconfident...thus allowing Piccolo to charge up his Special Beam Cannon once and then twice, rather than quickly taking care of them. Then, he still just ignores Piccolo and even taunts him to charge the power again! In the end, he got what he deserved...and is never really brought back except in GT (in the background, sucks for him).

This is the first instance, though not the first MAJOR, of where one villain is more powerful than the others. However, it does not follow the general formula seen in the next fight...

Piccolo, Gohan, Tien, Chatzu and Krillen vs. Nappa

Nappa, a monster of a Saiyan, completely demolishes these five. Chatzu attempts a suicide move that ends in failure and Tien is taken out rather easily as well. Then there's Krillen, who attempts to use a Destructo Disk and almost succeeds until Vegeta warns Nappa for being an idiot and it misses by just grazing his cheek. Gohan shows a little bravery but ends up Krillen'd himself (Krillen'd - when a character is left immobile on the ground/stuck in a wall either watching a more powerful character fight or being rendered unconscious). Piccolo is the only one who really stood a fighting chance and even he gets blown away pretty badly.

This is the first major fight to have all the sidecharacters lose to a large, bulky villain while waiting on Goku to arrive.

Goku vs. Nappa

The reason I list this fight is merely because Goku obliterates Nappa in the fight entirely. We get this big, scary monster that kicked everyone else's ass and then Goku strolls up, barely even pays attention to him and renders him useless as a fighter. Vegeta then punishes him with death =/

Goku vs. Vegeta (Saiyan on Saiyan)

I like the first part of the battle because of how evenly matched the two are. Every moment including the epic showdown of Kamehameha vs. Gallick Gun is intense and certainly the highlight of this early in the series. After this point I don't really care for it, I'm not too much on Ozoru's and I'm glad that Toriyama pretty much got rid of their use entirely (GT doesn't count since he didn't have anything to do with it), because not only did it completely bust every bone in Goku's body but YAGIROBI, which is the equivalent of KEIGO from Bleach, cuts off Vegeta's tail and stops a monster that nobody at this point could even begin to topple. I did enjoy however the Gohan (human) vs. Vegeta fight afterwards, as you got a feeling for his determination and power finally...then he went Monkey and crushed Vegeta with his giant, fat hairy ass.

Vegeta vs. Cooie (then Dadoria and Zarbon)

All three of these fights stapled Vegeta as an absolute, antagonistic badass. All arrogant opponents turned coward when nearing death, he repays Cooie's insults from the past with a swift defeat and death...then fucks Dadoria up so badly that you THOUGHT he'd end up being another Nappa...but Vegeta made sure that didn't happen. Then Zarbon was trading hands and one of the best fights for the anime. First Vegeta is a bit better than Human Zarbon, then Zarbon transforms and kicks Vegeta's ass pretty badly...then later Vegeta fights back and defeats Zarbon in a kickass way.

Gohan, Vegeta and Krillen vs. Recoome

The second Nappa fight, a large overly muscled man kicks everybody's ass...but he is one of the weirdest characters. I can't tell if he has homosexual tendencies considering he prances around like a ballerina, but he's certainly a force to be reckoned with at this time. Vegeta flys at him in full rage and seamingly kills him in the most badass way yet....then Reccome isn't even hurt by it (though his hair's f'd up and his armor has gone completely). Next Recoome tears Vegeta a new one and renders the badass a Krillen, while Krillen himself fails miserabely in the fight and Gohan is left to face him once again. And what happens? Gohan is rendered not only Krillen'd but Gohan'd! (Gohan'd - a character is beaten so badly by a one shot that he almost appears dead because his eyes fade out pretty bad and they're clearly unconscious), AGAIN! Oye...of course, this is another one of those fights where once Goku shows up...he PULVERISES Recoome and then takes it to Burter and Jace.

Goku vs. Freeza

Because of filler, this was what all the DBZ naysayers referred to when it came to fights lasting 10 episodes. Everyone who bitches refers to this fight...which in itself, is actually pretty awesome. In one corner we have Goku, the staple good guy who is here to save the day and kick ass...on the other hand, we have what we all believe to be the absolute strongest character in Dragon Ball Z...Freeza. Not only is he a he (because he looks like a chick, in fact didn't Krillen say he looked cute? WTF was with that line lol) despite his voice, but he goes through several transformations getting stronger...and stronger, until he reaches what I like to call the "perfect" form which means he kicks EVERYBODY'S ass and how can Goku be any different? Well he proves to be hella powerful against him and despite multiple points where Goku is obviously outmatched, he still prevails...and fires a Spirit Bomb. Does it work? Fuck no, Freeza comes back with one of his eyes damaged and kills Krillen, then f's up Piccolo. What's goku's response...?

THE FIRST SUPER SAIYAN! This fight becomes so intense at this moment, as the planet starts exploding and fire pillers erupt out of nowhere...the art style is absolutely beautiful! Nothing rings of the most intense fight ever than the atmosphere left behind by these two duking it out, it's absolutely perfect! The Gohan part is kinda cool, seeing as how he's now able to actually fight Freeza pretty damn well...but afterwards, more Goku kicking ass.

Trunks vs. Freeza, Freeza's henchman and King Cold

Who is this animated Leonardo DiCaprio? Pink hair? WTF...? Wait, now all these people are dead and the tyrannical god of terror Freeza stands with his menacing father, looking on in shock. What happens next? Freeza uses his dangerous death ball and all seems lost, until this mysterious youth goes SUPER F'N SAIYAN! The moment this happened, people around America were like HOLY SHIT!!!!!! Not only does he go Supersaiyan, he dices Freeza up so fast and blows him to pieces that I was left with my mouth wide open. THEN he takes out King Cold as if he was nothing...and who is this youth? Trunks, the son of Bulma...and VEGETA!

AN AMAZING BEATDOWN IF I MUST SAY SO MYSELF!

Piccolo vs. Android 17

Evenly matched warriors at their best, this is why I enjoyed the fight so much. That is until Cell came in and fucked it all up...I didn't really care for any of the Cell fights before Perfect Cell vs. Trunks and the ones after that...

Vegeta and Trunks vs. Perfect Cell

Vegeta's powers are so badass and he unleashes on the most badass villian yet, but it's all for nothing as Cell blows him away REALLY badly in the end. Then Trunks steps up and goes Ultra Super Saiyan, which intrigues Cell to where the two fight on even ground! That is until the form proves so bulky that it is no good and Trunks is beaten pretty badly.

Goku vs. Perfect Cell

An amazing match, seeing these two duke it out was so f'n intense. And when he did the Instant Transportation to Kamehameha Cell in the face, I jumped out of my chair and screamed FUCK YEAH!!!! Of course that didn't kill him and Goku ended up losing =/ everything was bleak until.....

SSJ2 Gohan vs. Perfect Cell

Best fight of the series. Gohan, whom Goku believed in all along, watches as Android 16 fades from reality...and in pure anger at losing someone with such a pure heart, he transcends to such a level that I creamed my pants. Cell Jrs, who were strong on their own level, are all destroyed so quickly I couldn't even blink. Then...he fights Cell evenly, even figuring out how to kick Cell's ass after he goes super bulky and turns him regular again. Of course at this point, I have no idea how Super Perfect Cell came along....I mean he goes back to Medium-Perfect and goes self-destruct mode, blows up and kills Goku, King Kai, Bubbles and that Cricket guy...then comes back as a Super Perfect Cell? Whatever the case, his powers are intense and he f's up Gohan pretty bad...then Trunks...and even Vegeta. But the reason this fight gets so amazing after this point is the Kamehameha showdown. Two amazingly powerful attacks clash, even when Gohan gains some power to fight back he's still unable to completely defeat Cell...that is, until Vegeta comes from behind with a final attack to help Gohan out and Cell is absolutely destroyed by the blast. Amazing victory...

Goku vs. Pikkon, Goku vs. Vegeta II, SSJ3 Goku vs. Majin Buu and Goku vs. Kid Buu

I bundle'd all over Gokus fights (that I liked) together, they're all awesome in their own right. The Pikkon one? Even footing, amazing battle with a great finish. The Vegeta one was hand in hand and truly epic...SSJ3 Goku was an epic beatdown that was on a timer =/...and vs. Kid Buu was catastrophic in powerlevel. That's all I have to say x.x it's awesome but...I'm tired.

Vegetto vs. Mystic Buu (absorbed Gohan)

For some reason, Mystic Buu reminded me of Cell a lot...but anyways, Vegetto absolutely kicked ass this entire fight and it's one of the ones I'll always remember. Catching a giant death ball with one hand, then kicking it back like it's a damn soccer ball? Fuck yeah.


NEXT ANIME!

BLEACH: Another Shonen Manga, Bleach has some pretty intense fights of it's own...WITH WEAPONS. Dragon Ball Z was all about fists and laserbeams (Kai, or whatever energy waves...), but this involves swords and other weapons clashing together WITH special attacks including spiritual energy release (such as Getsuga Tensho or Ceros). It's just pretty damn awesome...

Ichigo vs. Ikkaku

Shikai'd Ichigo vs. Ikkaku, an awesome fight that pits what I thought was just your average going to get killed-joe vs. the main character of the series. I turned out loving Ikkaku as a warrior and I almost cried when I thought Ichigo killed him...then it turns out he was healed and saved, which made me phew.

Ichigo vs. Renji 2

A fight with emotion. Two characters striving for Rukia in one way or the other, fighting to the death...definately one of those old Samurai Showdown feels with special abilities. This is also the first official use of Getsuga Tensho, which slashes Renji up pretty bad and almost kills him.

Ichigo vs. Kenpachi

Holy crap, onesided one half, then suddenly to Ichigo's favor?! Awesome use of clashing blades...then the initial showdown that ends in a victorious draw? Easily one of the best fights thus far.

Ichigo vs. Byakuya

Notice a trend? I seem to like the Ichigo fights the most! Well, the other fights going on are ok...Uryu kicked a seated officers butt then fought against Mayuri, in a way that was ACTUALLY really cool and Chad well...got Krillen'd. Anyways, this fight is truly...breathtaking. The first big bad, the one we all feared for how powerful he was, facing off against Ichigo Kurosaki. But Ichigo's stronger and Byakuya notices it...eventually revealing Ichigo's Bankia. Every moment of this fight is impressive and the best fight of the series next to Ichigo vs. Grimmjow and then Ichigo vs. Ulquiorra Cifer.

Ichigo vs. Grimmjow (all three times)

Three fights, Ichigo gets his ass beat by the badass Grimmjow. Second fight, Ichigo has the upper hand at the beginning and kicks Grimmjow's ass...then his mask runs out and Grimmjow gains the upper hand. Then the major showdown...both start evenly, but Grimmjow gets bored and demands use of Ichigo's mask...thus firing his Gran Rey Cero. After the mask is revealed, Grimmjow smirks and uses his resurrecion...where an epic fast paced battle begins. It's pretty even, with both characters being severely beaten and weakened. Eventually Ichigo wins and Grimmjow is left defeated, returning once again later in an attempt to face off Ichigo but...this fails, leaving Grimmjow attached by Nnoitra and everyone unsure of his fate.

Ichigo vs. Ulquiorra Cifer (all...two fights?)

Ichigo contiues to amaze against this powerful opponent, fighting strongly against an intimidating warrior...even shocking him at one point in the first fight. Though Ichigo ends up beaten pretty badly regardless with a hole in his chest...yet he returns to fight once more, fighting evenly with an un Resurrecion Ulquiorra until the fight goes outside, where things get heavily dangerous. Eventually, Ichigo is once again "killed". Really, Ichigo gets "killed" a lot...at least he has wounds that no normal person could survive and one way or another, he recovers. The fight turns to Ichigo's favor when he goes Hollow and was meant to be even afterwards, until Ulquiorra began to fade away.

Ichigo vs. Sosuke Aizen (transformed)

The thing that made this fight so amazing? The badassness displayed by Ichigo as he fights an enemy feared by everyone...and ends up kicking his ass, REALLY BADLY. Even faced against the monsterous form he later takes on, he doesn't bat an eye and uses FGT and Mugetsu to obsert his dominance. I loved this fight a lot =D

SSJ2 Gohan vs. Perfect Cell


For me, this is where DBZ should have ended just after Cell was killed. What perfect way to end the series than having Goku, the main character, dead and the torch passed onto his son, Son Gohan? It would have been a perfect ending to a great series, but that's not to say the Majin Boo arc was crap by any means.

As for that transformation to SSJ2...incredible and 100x better in the Japanese version. Plus, in that instant, a pure hearted child who was too scared to unleash his power, is transformed into a fucking man.

But then his character was handled poorly after that arc, studying and worrying 'bout the woman and shit. And Mystic Gohan's but kicking lasted about an episode and a half, and 2 chapters in the manga.

There aren't many characters in the series that are more pimp than SSJ2 Gohan. Stronger, yes, but not fucking pimp like he is. Mystic Gohan isn't even on SSJ2 Gohan's pimp radar. Only Vegeta is, I suppose. ;)

Just over 11 years since I got into the franchise and I'm still talking about the fights even today. Incredible. :eek:

Gotta be fair alot of my favourite fights have been mentioned in previous posts!. Alot of the dragonball/z are epic fights in general by far the first ever Vegeta Vs Goku fight is the best one to me.

Afro Samurai Vs Robo Afro is an amazing fight. The animation in it is amazing and the comments from ninja ninja is just to funny! On another note though does battle of intellect count for this thread as well if so then Light Vs L from deathnote is amazing aswell!!

That Gintamo clip is crazy. I had to go see that episode for myself (ep 145 I believe). I tried Gintamo a while ago and got turned off since it looked kind of silly. But wtf!!! Blood, vomit, broken bones...

Gintama is primarily a comedy show but occasionally has some fight scenes spliced into it. Whenever it does have fight scenes, they generally tend to be pretty top-notch.

I always thought that Cowboy Bebop had the best looking fights in the anime that i've watched because of how fluid they are. I found that Bleach just used the shaky camera style that Hollywood uses in their movies, apart from the Bakura fights (because he's an ultimate badass). I don't really like fights in anime, I think it takes away from the story.

Going to switch this up a bit. It's not anime, but they sure are the top American animated series. Supe vs Darkseid from Justice League Unlimited. Fight is the best of the series with of course Batman making a badass mockery of Darkseid's omega beam. I think he still holds the title for the only person to avoid that thing.

I have alot of fights i personally remember. The first is the Naruto vs. Sasuke fight at The End of tears. The second fight is Sasuke vs. Itachi because it was so anticipated in my mind since the original Naruto. Also Naruto vs. Pain, that fight was amazing. In DBZ, I would say Goku vs. Majin Buu when he transforms into Super Saiyan 3. In my opinion there are too many fights to name.
