Have been playing Hot Pursuit for about a week, roughly 30 hours of career time invested. Yesterday me and a freind wanted to play together online, but since he didnt have the supersports pack (and didnt want to spend 560 points on it) we had incompatible versions. I erased my pack and we played for a couple of hours without any issues. This morning I log on and ALL my career progress is wiped. Everything. I still have my achievements, but all events are loked and my levels are back to one.

This game is a fucking joke, the online pass, unskippable advertising, now this. Almost threw the disc out of the fucking window.

No. We both have new copies, we both used our online passes, and could both play independently. The issue came about because I had downloaded the Super Sports pack for 560 points. Because he hadnt purchased the same DLC, we couldn't play together. It's the equivalent of 2 players not being able to play Halo online together becuase 1 of us has a map pack and the other doesn't. It's ridiculous.

Also, the advertisement? I paid £40 for the game, I pay £40 a year for Xbox Live access. I should not be forced to have to sit and watch an advertisement for another shitty EA title. Take your free internet coupon and shove it.

did you redownload your dlc? your game has the new stuff saved on your profile now and you deleted it. much like deleting dlc in saints row 2 to play with someone and your save being unaccessible.

who knew a 1 minute teaser trailer for what seems like a decent racing game could cause so much anger. seriously, calm down. the only reason u should be mad is cause ur game is glitched. the online pass and trailer are nothing to get upset about and they don't make the game worse in any way. its a business, get over it.

I think my problem would be with EA, they are the only ones I know of that do this online pass thing, and the cost of xbox live should be more than enough to allow gamers to play ANY game online. I think the second hand gaming is important, especially to younger gamers who can't afford the new copies, and then it seems like EA doesn't care about them, which is too bad.

I would suggest re-downloading the DLC to see if your progress returns.

Similar issues for many Xbox games "can't remember names atm" But there are a few games that gets a new update and when you get in, it will tell you that your save game is not for this version. So your SP game can't be accessed. Tho this is for few games. I guess this is the issue for you.

I guess a string of code was added to tell the game that you had DLC.
Now he can't find it so he won't use that save game. Just hope you did not overwrite it if you did play SP again after. Like the good folks here said. Try getting the DLC again. And hope your old save is still there.... Unless you deleted the save game to. Did you delete the entire NFS folder or just the DLC file? Since you did not mention it. I just had to ask.

Its not unusual for a game to deny a MP game if the other one is using an older version. But if you have the same updates and just a DLC car pack that is the difference. I would have thought that the DLC cars are in the update. Just not unlocked. After the update. The cars was in my list. But I had not bought the DLC yet. So I could not select em. I could see em.
So I would have thought that you could still play with other ppl that had the new update, but not the DLC with the 3 new extra cars in em.
Maybe the issue was on his side? did he have the update with the 3 free cars?

If I remember that update was only in the store? Since it was not an update that was forced upon you. Kinda like BFBC2 does whit their MP updates. So you are not prompted for it at launch.

One person having the DLC does not prevent them from playing with people that don't. There seems to be a glitch with getting the 1.1 update after buying the Super Sports. Try deleting the DLC, reseting your cache, and then redownloading the DLC. As for your deleted game file, I know EA was giving 20 dollars to the EA store for anyone who had their progress erased. Although maybe $20 dollars doesn't equal the frustration of releveling to 20 on each side.

Why didn't your friend DL the free update ?
That kind of stuff is made to avoid such problems.
And it's not new that erasing a DLC can have a serious impact on your savegame. Not new at all.

It's like people calling "glitched" the games that don't unlock achievements properly when xbox.com isn't updated as well.
It's been happening for YEARS now, and people are still crying about it.
Yeah that sucks, but it's not something new.

Mass Effect did this. I had a new console and was offline for a couple of weeks after I moved house. Because the DLC wasn't recognised as being installed due to the DRM I couldn't use any of my saved games, even if I wasn't planning on going to any of the new missions.

Download the DLC and your saves should be fine unless you overwrote them in frustration.

Your friend could've downloaded the FREE update on the Marketplace and this problem wouldn't have happened. Just redownload the DLC and it should work again. If not... oh well

Thank you all for your comments, I wish I'd known about the free update, why on Earth wasnt it mandatory like every other XBL game? Would be nice to know. Oh well, completed both campaigns and then ground my way up to lv20 both careers anyway, didn't take more than a coupla days extra.

the OP said he almost threw the game out of the window. part of his anger/frustration is due to the 1 minute trailer and online pass. that is why i said to clam down. i didn't mean to say it in a bad way but its important that he realize that its a business and they will do almost anything they can to make more money. EA is not alone on that.

u then told me to calm down and get over something. i have no idea what that means seeing as i was just telling the OP to calm down of his problem. anyway, i really do not care to continue with this back and forth. just know that i was never riled-up and needed no calming down in the first place.

My friend emailed Criterion when all his Burnout Paradise progress was wiped.
They basically said there was nothing they could do but it "gave him a great reason to play through Burnout again".

They also ended the email with "Burnout Team Rocks!".

I wish I was joking.
