Are you scanning it at the scanning stone (in-game)? Read the instructions on the card, you hold it still in front of Kinect for awhile, making sure your fingers/hand isn't covering anything.

I'm having the same problem. I bought a Build-a-bear and can not get the sensor to scan my tag. I'm not sure if I have to update software or not. I purchased the 4 GB Kinect bundle just last night. Thanks. WFUnDina

When say "awhile" How long are you impling? I held mine up, longer then a minute. Nothing.
