Hey guys, been thinking about a getting a new computer as my old one the screen burned out and it needed updating anyway. so I was thinking of the alienware aurora 7500 as I am only a student and not exactly rolling in dough. Anyways since I am looking for a good gaming system is the 7500 good enough for most new releases? Also if you have a personal preference please add that as well, thx

Well, in my experience Alienware tends to be a bit price driven. They have great computers non the less. If you have the option of building your own I would go that route. Remember, people laugh at Best Buy and Circuit City (I do all the time.) but they are very good at building custom computers. So I guess the real question is: What are you using it for? I will get back to you after your response.
P.S. - First post, congrats

This man speaks the truth. If you're capable of building your own you'll save quite a bit of cash... cash that could be used for better components in the first place. If you merely need something to give instant satisfaction/function with minimal fuss the Alienware range is fairly decent, if you're looking at the 7500 i'd advise going with the dual 8800 upgrade for super duper futureproofing. 1-3 years of futureproofing, mind

I see, I will most likely go the custom route, but I am going to be doing mostly games you can by on disk but that you play online. I almost never play Warcraft, Runescape, ect. so is the custom the right way to go?

Almost never play? So what do you play and what do you plan on playing? Do you expect to play crysis?

Alien Ware is certainly an absolutly sweet system!, I havn't got any of the hardware, although I did purchase a seperate Graphics Card, which runs F.E.A.R on the P.C fantasticly! although I also purchased an Alien-Ware case for the P.C just to make sure it looked snazy, although yes the price is insanly high:mad:, this is what puts most people off, although Windows Vista is your freind obviusly thats a must have upgrade.., but I dont have that either, trust me Alien-Ware is a fantastic system!, but its not really that fantastic on the Computing side, only for gaming, obviusly its a must have for Gaming but I read an artical in P.C gamer there it said that Alien Ware lacks the ability to prevent Viruses but if you get some highly updated AVG hardware you should be ok, but unless you want to spend over 1,000 then stick with somthing a little more basic.

Windows Vista... Friend... Whatevs.
Anyways, yeah, Alienware is quite pricey. My cousin has one, and he said it doesn't work as well as he hoped it would. He actually had to take it in like 6 times in 4 months because something on the inside was frying.
Just what I've heard.
