Hey guys I was reading through some of the threads for this game and I noticed that some people were having trouble collecting shrunken heads by means of a finishing move and I found a way to obtain frequent heads and heres how:
In Port Royal you will come to a battle with Valsquez's men in the tavern area all you have to do is defeat them any way you like. After they are dead a cutscene will happen and then you will be fighting marines. In this battle in order to end it you must kill the leader of the group with a finishing move however DO NOT kill this person so long as he lives you will have an endless stream of marines in red coats spawn. But i noticed a trick to this you will always face a total of 4 enemys 1 leader and 3 red coats. here is what you do, first repeatedly attack the leader until the special bar fills up to the point where you can use a finishing move then use this finishing move on one of the three red coat marines. the marine will drop whatever items (if the first one you get is a shrunken head then good for you but it doesnt have to be) next repeat the process by attacking the leader until you can use a finishing move again. now after you killed that ONE marine another will spawn in its place almost instantly. Now use your finishing move again on the same marine that JUST spawned and the item will usually be a shunken head. BUT remember you are ALWAYS ignoring the other two marines and only killing one. if done right every second marine will have a shrunken head.
This is how I see it, there are a total of 3 red marines on screen at any one time however, there is always a fourth red marine kinda sitting out and waiting to come in once some one else dies so essentially what you are doing is killing two different marines. one with some random item and the other with a shunken head.
NOTE: If you do this and still cannot get a shrunken head then that means that the marine with the shrunken head is already on the field and you must repeat the above process with someone else. If you are having difficulty understanding me then please let me know and i will make things as clear as i possibly can.

I tried your advice and i never did get a shrunken head, BUT at the end of the level where you and will have to battles lots of red coats there is loadsa shrunken heads lieing about and there is a thread posted on forum explaining how to do it like opening the two gates to the finish line as less redcoats respawn then, plus when you open the cell with the calypso piece there is more shrunken heads in there also, and there is lots lieing around in barns on centre platform and near the cannons. Surely that would make it easier for us would it not?. As so far i have 68 heads and have 32 to get i gave up in the end as it was doing my head in but i will try your method again and see how i get on...

At first it kind of hard because you have to remember who you killed and who you didnt. Like I said before there is only one marine in that area with a shrunken head so if you do my meathod with no result then the head carrier is already on the field. but once you have a process going it gets easy. I was able to get my last 50 souls in that area in about 30 minutes.
I also heard about the last area but the problem I see with that spot is that the area is just too big and you lose valuable time running toward them.
And just for a little FYI if you do get the head using my method try herding all of the marines onto that wooden platform and then cross the ledge that you need to cross in order to get the hangmans noose and then jump off of it. Doing so not only gives you a chance to activate the jackanism but also gives you space so you dont kill someone with the initial explosion.

Isla Cruces. The last beach scene racks up shrunken heads. I got 45 souls in maybe 15-20 minutes.

i think i get what you are saying. i tried to apply this principle at the beach at Isla but there are six creatures respawning so keeping track of the one that should have the shrunken head is a nightmare. i managed to get to like 30 souls there but when i activated my Jackanism i blew the 30-40 grenados on the beach and killed my crew. what a pain in the ass. im going to try this in port royal tomorrow and let you know how it turns out.

Thankz alot man! I must admit this is gonna take me some time. It's kinda frustrating when I can't get the shruken head sometimes but atleast I get it! I'm gonna get this achievement alot more faster that the way I was going!!
EDIT
WOOOHOOO!!
I got the Achievement! Took me like a hour I think and like I got bored and finished the mission off where there was some shruken heads to help me further!

Thanks for this strategy, it helped me get the achievement. I didnt really understand what you were saying so I just killed them and randomly used finishing moves on whichever one of the red coats that I happend to use it on. I had like 23 souls from this area. Another great strategy that I used in conjunction with this one to get a huge count on another level was that beach level where you trap will and that chick in the cave. Search for that thread and use that too if anyone is having trouble.
