An intresting look at the change in graphics now compared to 20 years ago.

Some of you will see the graphics from 20 years ago, and remember how good they looked compared to what had been about before them,
if thats the case your really old.
:p
like me.
:(
lol
On a side note does anyone remember the punchout games in the arcade with the handle like controllers used to play it?
Ive not seen it in years but it was one of the most innovative control systems about at the time.

No one's quite as old as you chap, but point taken. Indeed you put these games next to each other and it's amazing, imagine what it'll be like in another 20. Some people believe we're reaching the horizon in terms of graphics, how wrong they be - that same thinking happens every time we advance. In two decades we'll be sitting Crysis & Gears next to their fresh equivalents and the circle of life is complete.
Odd thing is, though, some games from back then are still more fun than a percentage of those released today :S

i remember how amazing i thought it was when i saw nintendo for the first time...after playing atari for a few years before that.
this is a very cool look at the large steps we have taken, and will continue to take.
p.s. - ice hockey was one of the greatest nintendo games ever. ;)

Well I'm starting to feel old.
My first ever video game was Jet Pac (now on xbox arcade) My parents got me a Spectrum 16k computer (computer FFS with 16k memory) At the time I thought it was superb. I think I was about 7 or 8 (I'm 33 so some of you fellow oldies will know what year that was released).
This was followed by paperboy and all of the other classics although I think I got my Spectrum upgraded to whooping 48k then ;o)
Imagine my shock when I downloaded it on the 360. In my mind the game looked great however when I downloaded it all I could see was the blocky graphics.
Flea I remember the boxing game you were on about. To this day I dont think there has been a better arcade game in terms of innovation.

Wow... It's hard to believe that at one time those were the best graphics around. I remember when I got my N64 and I was almost drooling over the graphics, and now they're horrible. One day there will be a site comparing the Xbox 360's graphics with a future console's.

Jet pac was awesome,
i also loved Head over Heels,
Storm bringer,
Kickstart 2,
Ollie and lisa,
Barbarian,
Cybernoid,
Target renegade,
Jet set willy,
(theres an online multiplayer version of the game ill see if i can find a link)
and many other games,
sigh what great days waiting 5 minutes just so you could play a game then it would crash so you had to reload it.
Also if you had a speccy you will remember the loading noises,
i think they are with you for life.
