That cannot be right , half the fun of the original was the split screen capers.

It's Criterion, they did the same with Burnout.
Although the games are good themselves, the lack of split screen multiplayer was a bit of a bust. But I don't blame them, multiplayer is an online thing these days. Nobody really sits around split screening.

Nobody really sits around split screening. There's no good reason to get rid of it aside from a money grab by forcing friends who want to play together to each get a copy.

If you want to play with real friends you don't go home and load up LIVE, you go to one person's house and play together like real human beings.

It's not so much as "getting rid of it", it's more the case of "the game won't run in split-screen without bringing the level of graphics down a lot".

Which is also why games like Halo have noticeably lower detailed graphics than other games in the genre.

Which is also why games like Halo have noticeably lower detailed graphics than other games in the genre. And yet Halo still has one of the most dedicated fan bases in the world. No one plays Halo and thinks "I wish the graphics were more like CoD" or whatever other game. You don't notice small things when you're busy shooting aliens or terrorists.

And when you're playing a game at 150+mph it becomes even less valid. If graphics are the reason splitscreen is getting the axe then what happens in the future? Do we lose more features that make a game fun?

I don't buy shooters that don't have splitscreen anymore, and from now on I won't be buying racing games without it either.

Yeah, but the solid single player experience is what usually makes the game, the majority of the time people would be playing it alone.

= 105%.........

I would express my opinions on any and all of EA's decisions, including this but it tends to end up in warnings from forum moderators, so I'll just say I am not a fan of the lack of split screen.
