I think the reason for nobody having 1000 in Final Fantasy XI is because it's so incredibly unpopular, largely due to the fact that it isn't free to play on xbox live, considering the time it'd take to get all the achievements and having to pay for that time is very offputting.

Final Fantasy XI Takes about 4200 hours to max out. That's equal to playing non-stop for 175 days, so I would add it to the "pretty hard to 100%" list.

We will not find the "one" game that is actually the hardest to complete because it's absolutely subjective. Example: a friend of mine has 1000 in Ridge Racer 6 and Rumble Roses XX but he just finds it impossible to finish Beowulf. So after going through the different posts in this thread I believe that the following games are all very hard to finish:

Ninja Gaiden 2
Call of Duty 2 & 3
F.E.A.R
Ridge Racer 6
Final Fantasy whatever
Guitar Hero 2 & 3
Dead Rising
Monster Madness

Out of all the games I have played...Dead Rising is tough, but the hardest game has to be Sonic the Hedgehog Retail. Sonic has to be one of the toughest and most frustrating games I have ever played, and one of the games I am most proud of completing the 1000/1000 in :Bounce:.

Maybe not the hardest ever but the most personally frustrating for me was top spin 2. I just could not get anywhere near the 1000 career points achievement before I got pissed off and traded it in. Some of the ones in dead rising too just weren't worth the effort for 20 gs either.

for achievements you would have to be sedated for has to be Earth defence force:2017. I must admit i havent got it and i will never get it. Also Bioshock that extra achievement is insane. For arcade has to robotron: 2084.

One of the hardest games I've played for achievements is Sonic the hedgehog (retail version) It sucks so bad. I keep getting so far then putting down my controller out of frustration over bad camera angles. A whole week and no achievements for a game (ouch).
For download it would have to be Street Fighter II. I played this game on teh mega drive (still do) and have never found normal or easy for that matter to be so difficult. as soon as the ai has finished a move another has already started. I just can't keep up :(.

Dead rising is one of the hardest retail games, Oblivion is one also.
You could think that Warlords is the hardest arcade game because no one in the world has that one achievement (lol), but I'd say that Bejeweled 2 is the hardest.

I must agree with you. I got my black pearl on accident. That was the first 360 game I played, so I was quite the nub. And then, I deleted it because it said my 20 GB hard drive only had 13 gigs and I was like WHAAAAAAT!?!?!? NO WAY MAN!!!! So I deleted everything from the Xbox and moved up to an astonishing 15 GB. Incredible.

I'd say Earth Defence Force is impossible on Hard mode and there's 2 more modes after that! Lost Planet is crazy hard too.

You may die lots in the COD games, but I still beat all of them on Veteran in less than two days, I even got 1000 GS in COD4 in one 14 hour sitting!

What about Dance Dance Revolution? That COMPLETELY blows Guitar Hero out of the water with difficulty, those challenges are INSANE.

FF IX isn't hard, just VERY long.

What about Dead or Alive Xtreme 2? I've play that for over 200 hours and only have 400 GS in it! And I was using the money glitch. Doing that legit will take over 1500-2000 hours easy!

You haven't played much games have you? I did Dead Rising easy and in Oblivion you can make the difficulty ridiculous easy in the options. I did both those games but can't do DDR/DS Universe or Lost Planet or Earth Defence Force.

I've played over 160 games, but I avoid the super hard ones.

What about Ridge Racer 6 people? That was a beast for achievements!

Without a question, this has to be Rayman:Raving Rabbits. No one in the world has gotten the full 1000 legit and I think the highest anyone has gotten without cheating is around 650 or so.

Most of the games people are listing here aren't that hard - just time consuming and whoever suggested Dead Rising and Oblivion must be having a laugh.

In terms of toughness I would go with any number of musical games (DDR, GH 3) or Lost Planet/ EDF 2017 in terms of hardest single player (on the highest difficulty).

Try impossible! I was killer at TH: Pro Skater 2 onwards but Project 8 just took the cake. I did every goal at Sick level but I can't do the stupid Own the Spot tasks (or whatever they were called). Some of them ask for 10 million point combos just off a wall or quarter pipe! It was just insane :mad:.

Then theres the 5000 ranked matches and you need atleast 8 xbox's or you will get a 3 minute warm up time before the match starts. Then 5 mins a match. Providing you can find even one game going.

So not 'difficulty' hard, a talantless person with 8 xbox's could do it in a thousand hours or so if he constantly boosts. But as for a person with just 1 or two box's its just about impossible now.

just cause is pretty hard to get achievements in since there are so many bugs and glitches in it that prevent you from beating parts of it. also the difficulty randomly spikes during the game, every once in a while one of the missions has you doing something near impossible that will take dozens and dozens of tries to beat
