I find it really strange that no one has created any threads since the games US release, even if they were just going to slate the game I had expected to see at least some kind of feedback from people who have kinect. Ive always used x360a thread counts for a given game as a reasonably accurate barometer to judge its commercial success, and this looks like a huge flop.

I got it, I finished the World Grand Prix already.
I made a thread about it in the SEGA forum.

I got mine a day after release date and I absolutely love it so far. I'm so hooked on it that I haven't really tried Kinect Adventures OR Kinectimals yet.

I haven't tried Kinect Adventures yet either. Too busy trying to work at SFR.

I've played through quite a bit of the game. I've cleared the campaign and unlocked 3 of the 4 Avatar Awards. So far I've only gotten 250 Gamerscore, but most of the Achievements take a bit of time to obtain. You need to play each mode a minimum of 16 times just to get a handful of the Achievements. You've also gotta rack up a ton of Rings in order to purchase all of the Gear and Gear Parts.
One thing that makes this games especially challenging to get 1000/1000 Gamerscore in is that it takes a good bit of time to get a hang of the game. For the first couple of days I really wasn't too good at it. Tonight was the first time I really started feeling confident, and I managed to breeze through a few of the later races on my way to unlocking the Jet shirt Avatar Award.
Initially, I didn't know what to think of the game. I've put a good chunk of time into both Free Riders and Kinect Adventures, and I liked Kinect Adventures more at first. While I think that Kinect Adventures does handle the Kinect's motion controls better, Free Riders is a much more intense game with a lot more depth to it. It's also significantly more challenging. Attempting to get S ranks on all story missions should keep me busy for a nice long while.

If you can squeeze off an S rank for every mission in the World Grand Prix, you should unlock Super Sonic as a playable rider.

Find it amusing that sonic free riders was released in uk today and when I went to pick my kinect up they had a copy of the game preowned, bought it (as it's a game I wanted) but I do find it rather annoying - the sensor keeps thinking I'm pausing the game when I'm not even in the pause position.
Normal races are annoying (for me) but grand prix ATM seems ok.

I've been wanting to buy Sonic Free Riders. Are any of you having problems with it?
There has been such a variance in reviews that Kotaku has made an article about it:
http://kotaku.com/5686311/is-sonic-free-riders-broken-or-is-it-the-reviewers
So, I'm confused. Does the game work only in certain environments, is it a Kinect or Sonic Free Riders problem?

Haven't tried kinect adventures yet, but judging from reviews it seems to be a sonic free riders problem - as a lot of people say that kinect adventures works perfectly, but I'll find out for myself tomorrow lol.
Gonna give recalibration a try aswell see if that changes anything.

Well, Kinect Adventures works fine for me. I don't know whether SEGA didn't test it in various environments with people of different sizes, skin tones etc. Seems to be an odd problem. The games got a 75 from OXM and IGN, yet GameTrailers gave it a 45 whilst Joystiq gave it a 20. Something strange is going on here.

Well I played sonic riders in a smallish room and it didn't respond very well, I then set It up downstairs in a bigger room and it worked great, then the "pause" problem occurred. It's a mixed bag, achievements aintbthat easy either.

I read a few reviews, some people basically said the game just doesn't work.
If you ask me, I think they're just too lazy to calibrate their Kinect properly or actually learn the game. They just try it, and slap a review on after 10 minutes.

I finally have my copy, and I have to say Im pretty impressed. It definitely takes some getting used to but the controls work well enough for me. I too have had the random pause issue and also when using tails in one race he kept trying to kick dash over and over. However this was probably an issue on my end as my room was pretty dark at the time. All in all im really pleased with kinect generally, it does what its supposed to do and actually works properly (unlike move).
On a side issue, I strongly recommend getting a length of unused carpet and cuttting out a couple of board shapes, it really helps maintain your orientation plus for me at least it added to the immersion.. my kid loved it

LOL @ cutting out board shapes - that doesnt sound like a bad idea tbh =D
Played Kinect Joyride Demo with my mum/mom this morning - great fun and all worked properly.
For more embarrasment, turn the photos on, such a laugh seeing them on screen haha :D

After 4 or 5 hours with the game I have only had it paus on me 3 or 4 times. Sure its annoying but that is the only problem I have had with the game so far.
Edit: Actually had another thing happen when a rode i bike and all of a sudden on a straightaway it registered me as standing sideways and I just stopped for a couple of seconds.
