Blocking tips

I know this game is quite old, but I bought it when it went on sale a long time ago and haven't played it since because I lost my job and internet. Now I'm back online and stumped.

Does anybody have any tips on blocking? I can't seem to block to save my life. Every time I try, it's always failed. Are there any indicators on when to block an attack?

Tap either trigger when their health bar flashes. If it's right on the money you'll do a counter as well. Hope this helps.

^This. The flash helps you find the timing. It just takes some practice. Once you get it down, you'll be blocking 90%, sometimes.
