Raid the Villages

Have only just started and after doing one of the first raid the village missions in the results screen the area that usually shows you what new weapons and stuff you've earnt just shows a "?"
any idea what this means

have i not done something specific to the mission and therefore didn't earn anything ??

I usually get the ? in a box at the end if i have lost on that map
Did you win or lose?

I thought i had seen it on both but not def. sure

deffo usually only seen the question mark if i was defeated on a side mission-although there was one side mission-raid the gold from 2 wagons or something-i did one got a mission accomplished and a question mark-guess i had to do both to unlock the reward?
