Dude, if you're only getting game to get easy points, don't waste your money buying them, just get gameznflix or gamefly. Only buy something you truly enjoy and would play regardless of points.

I have a bad habit though of not completing all of the points in a game and put it away and then playing it again though dont netflix cost like 20 bucks/month?

You can do gameznflix for $12.75/month, and you get 3 games at one time, you can keep them as long as you want until you're done.

Yeah I've been renting games from Gamefly for about 3 months. My only compliant is it takes a week or so for a game to come in! I live in NY and the games are shipped only from Cali :(

yeaa ik same here only for about 2 months...i love it tho cuz i just beat the games, get the achievement pts, and send them bak. Thats exactly wat i used to do in the first place wnen i bought games...i wud buy them, beat them, then sell them...only now im saving money..and the great part about it is that if the game is really good and has good online play like rainbow i can but it for a reduced price from them..so yea i love it..and to me waiting a week isnt a problem..id rather have like 4-5 games a month then just have 1 game every 2 months. Also they just opened up another gamefly place in Phily so eventually im thinkin that they will ship to NY for us

I cheat a bit in this regard, I buy the used game from Gamestop and return it within 7 days to get my money back. They give you a full refund even if you just didn't like the game. So every week, return a game, get a new one, keep the receipt, then rinse and repeat. In the end, I just play all these used games and spent absolutely no money at all. :)
Only downside is that you actually have to wait for the used game, but yeah, saves tons of money.
Then i just buy the ones I really like and will keep playing long after.

I prefer to stick to the game rental shops than the gameznflix (although have never tried it). At Blockbuster, I have a monthly game pass that costs $22 a month for one game out or 35$ a month for two games out. I don't know about you guys but some of the games like Cars, Open Season, TMNT only took me 1-2 days to complete and simply waiting for a game to come in the mail would just make me more impatient than I am when the game I want isn't in at Blockbuster.

Yeah....I'd say I rent alot of games these days! I rent all the ones that I wanna try and get 1000 or so on, in a few days time.....but I also buy alot of games too.............BUT ONLY THE ONES I PLAY CAUSE I LIKE EM (e.g...Rainbow Six, Crackdown, Gears Of War). Funny thing is, I actually scammed Blockbuster for free rentals, cause I would go in and get a new release game the day they got it, take it home and try and get 100 on it before they closed, and then take it back and tell them it kept freezing somewhere just past the menus (cause they wont check it and I got a new game since they generally dont carry alot of copies of games most of the time)

Just signed up for 14 day free trial with 3 games out. Seems they like they have small selection or I can't figure out how to show all 360 games. Though every game I've searched for is coming out so far.

The easiest way to find 360 on gameznflix is to click the 360 bar, then hit advanced search, then search on the bottom. It shows all 360 games alphabetically.

I use gameznflix, and if I really like a game after playing it I buy it if it has great replay value. Also they sell new games, and usually are about 10 or so dollars cheaper than retail stores.

05-19-2007, 01:23 PM

I use gameznflix. i do the 3 out at a time, 12.75 a month plan. If you have a relatively busy life (work, school, martial arts, etc.), then i'd suggest this. I live in NJ and luckily, they send the games from maryland, so they always arrive 2 days after shipping. I like the price most though, very cheap for what they give. My only complain is that they dont get new games really fast. Like spiderman 3, they haven't gotten it yet in order for me to queue it. So i'll just have to buy some games that I really want like GTA4, Assassin's Creed, MGS4, and FF13. Other than that, gameznflix is an 8.5/10 for me.

05-19-2007, 09:53 PM
You're welcome slane. The 360 has like 130 something retail games, but a lot of their stuff is collectors editions. Also, they don't have Marvel:UA Gold edition in yet.

All of my games have been bought. I play more for my own enjoyment then trying to boost my score, though.
But if you are looking to quickly beat games, some sort of subscription to a program like Gamefly or Gameznflix is the way to go, as stated above.

i dont really care about my gamerscore....my problem is that i like to play all the games, which gets expensive if you buy every single game.
Now i rent and play if the game has replay value I have the option to buy it.

Both.
I mean, if it's a game I know I like, or rented and enjoy. I'll buy the game. Of course I want achievements in it, so I will obviously go for them. But if I don't know about the game/don't think I will enjoy it, I won't buy it. I'll just rent it.

I have been using a combination of three things. Buying used games from gamestop/ebgames, renting old sports games from Blockbuster and Hollywood, and ebay sniping every now and again. I got both perfect dark zero and quake for for $14.xx shipped and both of the games are complete and this was from ebay. But I agree with everyone who has posted above that says use an internet based rental service.

I personally buy every game that I know I will enjoy for a long period of time. Then for that game, I try to get the achievements, and then I just have fun with it online. But, for other games, such as Madden and stuff, I just go to my local Blockbuster and they provide for me. Haha.

i buy games after renting them if its something i truly enjoy. there are lots i buy if i know i will like them right off the bat (ghost recons, rainbow six etc.) i try to buy used when possible. i just bought 3 used games for 38 bucks two days ago. (gamestop had buy 2 get one free this week look for sales!) if its something i know will be easy and not much replay value i rent (i rented nba street last night and got 490 points in 3 hrs)
also if you go to family video the first month you are a member all rentals are half off. my old lady signed up so after her month is done im signing up to get another month of half off. take advantage of the system if you can.

YES. Do this. Find the coolest Gamestop/EB around you and then just be cool with the clerks and they will even give you great tips on which games are easy 1000s, etc.
My method is to purchase and then return, and then purchase a more expensive used game and then return and then purchase a MORE expensive game and then return . . . so that by the end of the month or whatever, I've accumulated enough refund money to go ahead and purchase a new game that I know I want.
Everyone seems pretty happy with this arrangement. Particularly me.

i think that if you like getting gamerscore by renting games that you should be able to without be mocked for doing it if you want to rent games w/o buying them and get all the gamerscore you can out of the game and fully enjoy the experience then thats ok. unlike me all of my friends are so competitive over who has the highest gamerscore and how good the achievements are, but i say forget them because i like getting gamerscore and i like playing the games.

Of course if your tight on budget RENT and if you just have money lying around BUY :P
I rent from Gameznflix 3 out at a time for like $13 which is REALLY CHEAP lol. The service isn't outstanding but it isn't as bad as people are saying [guess it depends on location]. I get games within 2-3 days of them shipping and for some reason their computers RECEIVE my games the DAY I drop them in the mailbox. So usually they send out my next game the next day. So from the day I drop a game in the mailbox it's about 3-4 days till I get a new game. Usually I try and mix and match what type of games i am renting. 1 EASY Achievement only game and 2 Games that will take me some time to accomplish all the achievements. Unfortunately my XBOX got the Red Ring of Death awhile back and I was kinda lazy to ship it back so I was renting other system games for a bit. Eventually I called up and asked for MS to send me the box to ship my xbox to them for fixin. So my 360 was out of commission for a good 3 months [2 Months of Just Laziness and 1 Month of Repair]. But recently I just got back on the achievement wagon and renting 360 games again. Gameznflix may not have ALL the Latest and Greatest but it will keep me busy for awhile [I'm not as hardcore as some of the people on this forum, I got RL stuff to do + MMO games to play :P]
Well I also buy games, mostly retail places when I find a good deal, but I don't buy games for achievements I only buy games that either I will play with some friends [Fusion Frenzy 2, Co-op Games, etc.] or games I enjoy playing on XBL [shooters and racers] or games that have nice covers [LE stuff lol can't wait for the Halo 3 Legendary to be on my wall lol]

I'm a game junkie. I want to play every game that comes out. If it sucks, oh well, at least I played it but I don't have money to burn so I'm with Gamefly. Renting is just a better bargain. For $25 I can play through about 6 games per month instead of paying $360 per month to buy that many. Waiting for shipping sucks but I don't have any kind of rental places like Blockbuster within a reasonable distance.
Renting rocks cuz a) I save money b) I get to play a ton of games and c) I get to bump up my gamerscore cuz I like to SEE what I accomplished. It's like having a trophy or medal. Sure, if you didn't have anything to show for what you did it'd still be cool that you did it, but it's nice to have proof.
If I really like the game and I want to buy it, I can just buy it from Gamefly. The only time I buy a game retail is when it's a game I know for a fact I'm going to love and KEEP PLAYING FOR MONTHS. Everything else, why not leave to renting?
