Getting Gold?!?! Yeah right...

I just started doing the races and I am having a deathly time trying to get or even come close to getting gold. It seems on average there is a difference of about 20 seconds between gold and silver.

I have been able to get got on all the races but I have only beaten it by about 2-6 seconds. How on earth am I supposed to shave 15 seconds off my time!!!!!

Absolutely ANY tips or pointers would help me at this point because I am about to just give up on getting the stupid 30 points achievements.

Ive given up with the races to be honest, for the same reason. There is just no way of getting gold on some of them, most after the first 4 or 5. Its like they didnt even test if it would be possible to get the times.

You need to actually play the game, your speed goes up after so many missions. I have not yet tried to do the races yet, it will be the last thing I do.

The sad thing is I already have done the missions I have done 36/42 with at least speed boost 5. I also have gotten the achievements of 200+ mph swing. I just can't seem to get the gold...

I've done most things besides the races on the game, they are next for me but I'm not even gonna try for the gold ones. I know I can get at least bronze on all easy and medium races and probably the silver achievement too but I wont bother with the gold its very very hard, I only have it on a couple, while some I struggle to get silver. Oh well

Here is what I think you are doing wrong. Are you doing the races by swinging? Because if you are then yes it is impossible to do them that way, what you need to do to get gold is use the accellerated web zip (tap RT then tap LT). Get used to moving around like this as it is a lot faster. Use this method to reach each checkpoint then only do the required action through the checkpoint.

Ive completed the story missions fully, but I havnt tried that way of doing the races, I used the "Pull RT and as you swing, relese it and pull LT" I'll give your way a go.

Oh my gosh!!!! Works like a charm, I am actually getting a respectable silver score now. Before this yes, I had been just swinging, this definately works thanks a ton! The reason I'm not getting gold now is because I zing past the targets and off the buildings lol. Better practice, Thanks again! :)

That seems like a good idea. When I first got the game and only completed about 7 missions, I got silver on all of the EASY races. So if I got silver back then, I could probably get gold now. And I did it while swinging.
By the way, I have a question, is Black Spidey faster than Red Spidey? Because I seem to notice a difference when I switch between the 2 (for combat tours and bomb tours).

Ya know, I have been wondering the same too. I have been able to notice a variation in the style of swinging between the two but as for the speed, I am not exactly sure.

WTFFFFFF!!!!!!! How many of these stupid races are there?!?!?! I just completed a majority of the mediums and all of the sudden there are races that I have seen as high as 47 on my map. How many races are there in all, 50?

yeah i haven't started doing the races yet only 32/46 from finishing the missions but not looking forward to the races from what i hear they can bee a pain the the butt, good to know using web zip is the fast way of doing it.

50!!! Are you kidding me? This game is a joke, I just finished the last of the story missions and got my achievement for beating the easy races and I think I'm done.

I have Gold on all the races, did them all with Red Suit after completing the Tutorial mission, so it can be done with little to no tricks unlocked. Of course I worked on the game for almost a year, but as for tips here are some good ones:

Learn to use the "web zip" when traversing large spaces of land, and when you are zipping through corridor-like buildings.

Get the swing speeds as fast as possible. Getting 200mph speed Achievement does not mean you are that fast, but it prolly triggered for you when you flew across the map from the Daily Bugle or when you were "web zipping" after boosting through the city.

Black-Suited Spidey's abilities are better than Red Suit, so if you are having a problem shaving 5-10 seconds off your race, wait until you get Black-Suit and then try again.

just a thought... (i'm working so i haven't tried it yet i will do later though) when you use spidey reactions (or whatever it's called) everything else around you slows down but spidey still moves at the same speed. so does this mean that you can whack down your timing on the races? sorry if i'm wrong btw.

Nah it doesn't work but it obviously should. Grrr can anyone help me on Race 32? Just doesn't seem possible... I can't seem do any of the Hard races except the first one, I can't even make Bronze (probably takes me 20 seconds longer then the Bronze time to finish the race). God these races are so figgin' ridiculous.

I feel ya, these races have since made me drop the game. I figure 910 pts is good enough. Those last ninety points aren't worth the time or frustration needed to get them.

These races are very hard, my hats off to anyone who can gold all of these bastards.
