I was having trouble beating Gorgon with my level 49 assassin. This surprised me after beating the Green Dragon in one try with a cascade of strikes. The Gorgon has extremely high spell resistance, because I could almost never get a strike or even Stealth through without it being resisted. So, I went and did quick battles to get my level to 50 and acquire Shadow Strike. Then I went to see the priest in the chapel of Verloren to change my stats. For 500 gold per skill point, I went "all in" by moving skill points from Strength and Morale into Intelligence to gain spell penetration. My final Intelligence stat was 41. Then I went back to the Gorgon with my strike attacks (I subbed Shadow Strike for Burning Strike) and whooped him on the next try. He only blocked about 1 in 10 strikes, and the Shadow Strike, when doubled with Stealth, was devastating. I would have been able to do the same without Shadow Strike in just a few more turns I am sure.

i actually had absolutely no problems with him yesterday, also assassin on lvl49 at that time...
i'm playing on easy though, because the battles annoyed me in the late game. i never lost, but they just took too long and i just wanted to finish the game...

just try to destroy all red manas, so he cannot cast his spells, and always keep up stealth to avoid his 209dmg critical hit.
and always keep him poisened. that way you actually have to do nothing but wait and keep him from getting red mana...

i have 0 points in intelligence (or whatever the starting amount is for assassins). all my stats are in dex and morale.
i guess i succeeded in 7 out of 10 spells against him. but maybe its because of the easy difficulty, i don't know...

i'm going for that nasty dragon now. and still haven't got that stupid 8-in-a-row and "lose with enemy health at 1" achievement :(
