Introduction
PlayDead's LIMBO is a puzzle game that can really only be enjoyed being played without a guide. There's nothing better than being stuck at a part for a while and then figuring it out. You'll either feel like a fool or a genius, either way you'll enjoy it more completing it first yourself.

Step 1
Complete the game yourself and try to find as many eggs as you can.

Step 2
Use this guide to find the rest of the achievements you missed.

Step 3
Complete the game with 5 or less deaths.

The achievements in this game are pretty easy to attain as you can just load up the chapters to collect the eggs, however the No Point in Dying achievement may take you some time. Also note that while playing the game, it will not show you what chapter you are currently on. To chose a specific chapter go to 'Load Chapter' from the main menu.

Chapter 2 - Once you have pushed the tree part off of the top of the tree, run left and jump to a rope then use this to get to the 'Altitude is attitude' egg.

Chapter 11 - After the part where you get the brain slug off of you, go left and wait for the pipe to float towards you. Pull it to the right and place it in the water. Climb on the pipe and jump to the left to grab a rope. An egg should fall onto the pipe. Please refer to 'Going Up'.

Chapter 14 - When you reach the first elevator, you want to get on top of it while it is going up. Then when you near the roof, jump to the left and grab the rope to make the egg fall out of the pipe. Climb down and collect it. Please refer to 'Going Up'.

Chapter 15 - After finishing the elevator puzzle, you will come to a large ladder. Instead of climbing it, keep running right into a dark area. When you first hear yourself start to walk in water, jump to the right and climb up. Proceed to the next egg. Please refer to 'Going Up'.

Chapter 16 - This the section where you need a box to climb up to a lever to make a cog turn. Instead of using the lever, climb over the stationary all the way to the right to claim this egg. Please refer to 'Going Up'.

Chapter 19 - Once you have removed the brain-slug at the part with the cogs and conveyer belts, you may have noticed a ladder you couldn't get to because you couldn't move left. Get back to this ladder and go under the cog to crack the egg. Please refer to 'Going Up'.

Chapter 19 - Shortly after the backtracking achievement, you'll come to a rotating room in the dark. Once you make it to the big wooden box, instead of pushing it off the ledge, use it to climb up to the right. (Climb the box, climb left THEN jump right.) Please refer to 'Going Up'.

Chapter 23 - At the first timed gravity altering area, you'll want to quickly run to the left to fall (upwards) to a section where you can open a drawer that and egg will fall out of.

Hey, I just wanted to say I really enjoyed the hidden egg search thread. I was cursing work for keeping me so busy, I was always a couple of eggs behind you folks and mostly ended up riding on your coattails.

Last night I grabbed the 10th egg based on the thread, aiming to do my 5 death playthrough this morning. It went surprisingly well, I only took one death in the cacoon section towards the beginning. I was pretty vexed when I came here and found out that the key to it all was zero deaths!

Anyway, I hope to have time to contribute next time there is a fun race to hidden stuff. Thanks for everybody who helped out in the thread!

It is funny how early on, people were actually not lying when they said the key is a no death run...because people did it, but didn't go to the left. Quite humorous to me...especially because I will end up dying and throwing my controller across the room.

Yes, I think the mods just don't have the nice scripts and tools set up to allow deleting of single posts, so they went for the easier method of "lock & delete". I thought that it was defualt loaded with vBulletin though so I really don't know....

Those people that are on the top of the boards should really look at the people with 109%. If anyone has 109% without the 5 deaths achievement, that means they have gotten a different 11th egg. 109%=98%+11%...

Just a suggestion, because I think there are more eggs and I'm sure someone else out there has found one.

Haha...sorry...I was trying to make this suggestion on the boards a long time ago when everyone was withholding for the purpose of trading. I kept saying, "You're only trading amongst the top! Look 2% down for the real finds!" but no one would listen to me...I was trying to make the point that there were people lower down with the same amount of eggs or more, they just weren't getting credit because they didn't have the 5 death achievement.

BTW, Steve, sorry about or "tiff" before. I do believe you worked hard for your eggs and I do believe you deserve to be high on the leader boards as a reward for your hard work.

I never disagreed with you withholding info, I just didn't like the whole, "I know where it is, but won't tell you and no one else that should find it attitude" that I was reading from you. Now I understand what it was all about.

At least you didn't invite me to a party and tell me a completely incorrect place to look. I don't know what the point in them deceiving me was, I wasn't going to de-rank anyone since I missed the 5-death achievement. And I didn't tell anyone the "secret location" they told me, just as they had asked. So, all the did was mess around with the emotions of a girl who obsessively can't stop playing a game until she has completed it.

I'm just happy I promised my husband I would spend some quality time with him last night instead of playing limbo till dawn, otherwise they may have really wasted my time. Even though I was pretty sure this "black egg" was total bull.

Well, Steve, I always believe in the goodness of people but sometimes I get the door smacked right in the face. After just started playing Limbo I got a party invite from some dude (porcelaintattoo) because he got stuck in the game. I helped him out and even helped him getting all the chievos. Then he started going for the 5deaths run which I tried several times but failed. He got it but meanwhile I was gathering secret eggs and he was pissed because I had 100% like him so he asked me how I got it. I admit I hesitated giving them away because the guy just didnt feel sincere. After a while he probably found bailey's vids on youtube and started +100%ing like me. Suddenly he de-friended me and started sending me messages about his progress on the leaderboards, taunting me. That's how I started to get amused by the whole egg-thing. Kuddos for you guys on finding the eggs and I'm sure you all had a good laugh in the party chat! :D

First time posting, because honestly, after waking up and seeing how the last thread turned out, I needed to say something.

I spent about a day and a half banging my head trying to find these eggs, but was never able to find one for myself. I believe I messaged you at one point, Steve.

However, it is my honest opinion that both parties fighting in this little debate were being very immature. Steve, you are correct in saying that you didn't have to share any info. The game is yours to play as you wish. However, they are just leaderboards. I don't think you quite understand what you've started here.

This could have been a great community, where everyone simply helped each other find the eggs, and it could have been a feeling of greatness for everyone involved because they could have all felt like they helped discover something; it would have been more like game communities used to be. However (and I hate to say this was your fault, as I don't believe this was your intention, but I do think it was started by you) instead of working together as a community, it was divided at the getgo by people who wanted top spots on the leaderboards. This then resulted in people getting irritated because they were spending just as much time as the top hunters, but not getting as lucky, or not having groups to bounce ideas off of. The people you wrote off as selfish had even more pure motives than you; they didn't want a place on the leaderboard, all they wanted was to find the eggs, learn the secret, and be a part of something that could have been great. At least, those were my only motivations.

I gave up the egg hunt after my initial interest, because in my honest opinion (and excuse my language), almost everyone involved was being a dick about it. I honestly hope this entire incident will lead to better things in the future, as people learn that these things are just a game, and a united community is far better than a divided one.

This means that maybe there is another way to get percentage other than the 10hiden eggs?

Also with all the dark egg crap going on, did'nt some people discover that if you wait for 5minutes or so at the boat it does a jump out of the water or something like that?

edit: on the note of waiting, I also noticed that to the left in the ending there is a small pond with 2 butterflies. The butterflies do a sort of "dance" like real butterflies do whilst they continue to fly back and forth over the pond.

For 7 eggs, they were shared perfectly fine and relatively quickly. The 8th was slow, I had it uploaded for 5 hours before I finally posted it. 9th came soon after.

The 11% is completing the game without dying. People had posted saying this is what you do and mostly everyone didn't believe it.

First off I just want to say how enjoyable this game really has been and how much fun it has been working with some of you on finding these eggs. It really has been one of my most memorable times I remember playing a game. I recently e-mailed Play Dead and got a pretty interesting response. I really think there are more eggs to be found. Finally!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! got the no point in dying achievement, took me 3 days but I got so I guess I have to look for the eggs but will do that another time lol. This game is a stressful one lol.

I was thinking taht aswell as 10 eggs we got percentage for gamecompletion, 5death and ZDR.

This means that maybe there is another way to get percentage other than the 10hiden eggs?

Also with all the dark egg crap going on, did'nt some people discover that if you wait for 5minutes or so at the boat it does a jump out of the water or something like that?

edit: on the note of waiting, I also noticed that to the left in the ending there is a small pond with 2 butterflies. The butterflies do a sort of "dance" like real butterflies do whilst they continue to fly back and forth over the pond.

I'm looking into the part with the fly ATM...

Looking at the area there are many things that stand out as unique and/or odd.

The biggest are;

* The fly has 3 flight patterns, but only 2 spot on the wall. Last part of the cycle he lands in the higher spot.

* Just above the start of the chapter there is a tap/valve that I have never seen aywhere else.

* this is where the dark cave is with lots of light above it all.

* the ladder and unreachable areas to the right and above

What's done is done imo. Just got my 111% so I'm happy for now until more are found if there are more.

First off I just want to say how enjoyable this game really has been and how much fun it has been working with some of you on finding these eggs. It really has been one of my most memorable times I remember playing a game. I recently e-mailed Play Dead and got a pretty interesting response. I really think there are more eggs to be found. Has anyone noticed that on level 23 if you do go bellow the saw and jump off and hit the bottom of that big O, that there is like a whitish line on the bottom of it. Almost like from a web? Could be nothin or a glitch but I think its worth mentioning.

* Each egg (including the standard ones) have a different appearence. I have only seen 4 different types, but each egg is always the same type when you find it again. I notice the appearences are; Sparkles floating up, Solid and flickering, white curved line inside, black ring inside.

My thought are that the disappearing egg is a glitch, but for the different eggs you must collect all of a type and no mixing, then finish the game in one complete run though.

Anyone want to go through and note down the different eggs and thier locations? If 2 or more can do this we can compare and maybe discover something?

I really doubt that means anything, from whats been happenning in this game it could be a way of unlocking something. May that be a different egg or a different ending.

In my opinion, the 11th egg is the last egg of now. Meaning I hope theres going to be an expansion/sequal to LIMBO.

Another thing I noticed was when you are wrapped up in that cocoon from the spider you can roll that ball that knocks the tree down by bumping into it. there is a small divit in front of it. I did manage to get the ball on it but i don't think far enough because it didnt stay. You can backtrack quite a ways if only you could get that boulder to stay.

If there is a 12th egg I doubt it has something to do with another egg. Unless theres a sequece they have to be done in, like the Halo 3 IWHBYD skull. Don't know, just a suggestion.

If it had a reason to be there then fair enough its not a glitch, but its not there at the start and you can go all the way through the game without that happening. Its just a glitch, there is nothing that is going to happen if you have it happen to you.

To be fair, this isn't exactly a normal game.

I mean, the game never tells you what is going on at the beginning or the end. The only bit of story is in the description, it never distinguishes when you enter another 'chapter' (which aren't even labeled or anything in the menu).

Not telling you to got everything wouldn't exactly be that weird. They're not going to take you out of the experience to give you a message.

At best, if you got everything, maybe the leaderboard would have a crown or something next to it (like how Perfect Dark gives you things when you do stuff), but I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Limbo doesn't tell you, if only so you keep searching so people can say "Well, this game could still have secrets" and add to the mystery of the game.

Just a note to say you made a small typo in your description of the 111% egg - you go left then right, not left then left.

Also, we're still pretty sure there's more eggs to be found, but due to the increasingly (and completely unwarranted) hostile attitudes of people even after they are told the correct locations, we're being much more selective with who we reveal to as nobody wants to lose their leaderboard spot after so much hard work to someone who just read all the locations here and is sending us insulting PMs too.

As soon as all are found, i'm sure everyone would be happy to release them straight away. So please, be patient and thanks to all those who have been understanding and appreciative of all the hours we've been putting in.

Nobody is obliged to post anything here or make videos for you all - we could all have happily sat on them and there'd be only 10 or so with 111% and the rest on 105% or so, so please understand that we have been helping, and the delays are purely due to people being hostile to us and trying to leapfrog us on the leaderboards without actually contributing anything to the (continuing) search.

Achievement Tip: Achievement Mini Guide


Most Achievements in Limbo are tied to collecting glowing "eggs." The remaining Achievements are based on completing the game.


Wrong Way (5) At the very start of the game, head left to find the glowing egg.
Altitude is Attitude (5) In Chapter 2 you'll come to a broken tree you can push over to make a path forward. To the left of this is a rope that is nearly invisible due to the leaves in the foreground. Jump to this and climb it to reach the egg.
It’s Stuck (10) At the end of Chapter 11 you must climb a tall ladder that leads to the next chapter (after you lose your brain slug). Push the pipe on the ground to the right past the ladder and into the water under the pipe that is NOT leaking water. Now, jump for the rope obscured behind a beam in the foreground. This will cause the egg to drop onto the pipe.
Urban Exploration (10) In Chapter 14 you'll come to a large elevator. Take the elevator to the second level and get off, then send it back down to the ground. From here, hit the button to bring the car back up and jump left onto the top of the elevator. Quickly jump to the rope hanging high up to the left and climb it to reach the egg.
Alone in the Dark (10) This one is tough: At the end of Chapter 14, after the portion with the spinning saw blade and the two crates, is a dark passage or "cave" leading away from a ladder. If you move deep into this cave you'll fall to your death, however, you can actually leap an invisible pit here. You'll need to time your journey into the cave carefully, but after some trademark "trial and death" you should be able to leap the chasm and get to this egg.
Climbing the Cog (10) In Chapter 16 you'll come to a giant gear with a switch in front of it. Don't flip the switch. Jump onto the gear and ride it to the right until you reach the egg.
Backtracking (10) Just after losing the brain slug in Chapter 18, you'll find yourself on a conveyor belt. To turn back to the left and "backtrack" you'll need to push one of the boxes to the right for a bit and then climb on it. This will allow you to reach the edge of the crushing device to the left. Hang on the edge until the crusher recedes and then climb up and cross it to the ladder in the upper left. Up here is an egg.
Guided by Sparks (10) After the entire level ceases to rotate in Chapter 19, don't push the crate off the ledge. Instead, keep it near the electrified wall and use it to hop up onto a hidden ledge to the left. From here you can make a large leap to the right to reach the egg.
Under Ground (10) At the elevator in Chapter 21, move all the way to the ledge on the right. Tap DOWN to hang from the ledge and then jump to the right from your hanging position to grab a chain. Climb down to the egg.
Going Up (10) Activate the first gravity switch, just past the "HO" in Chapter 23. Move the crate to the right and stand over the switch. When the gravity reverses, hit the switch a second time as you fall and move left to discover a hidden area. Pull the lever here for the final Achievement egg.
Where Credit is Due (100) Complete the game.
No Point in Dying (10) Complete the game without exiting the game or dying more than five times.

I don't know what level it's on, but on the one where you climb the cogs and have to change the direction they're going to go higher, there looks to be an egg underneath the second big cog, on the higher ground. Is this an egg? There doesn't seem to be any way to get it, and I didn't see this egg in the hidden egg videos. Can anyone clarify this for me?

I've got a problem in this game. First i played through the hole game and finished it. Now I've wanted to load the chapters and get the missing eggs.
So I've loaded the Chapter for 'Riding the Cog' collected the egg but i didn't get the achievement.

I think the second one got confused with the first one, as they have the same wording with "left" replaced with "right" (and there's no egg where #2 says it will be).

Actually not dying five times is probably harder, only because you can play for almost an hour before screwing up and not getting it, while Mile high club only takes about a minute or two to beat ^^;

Ok, thats true, Mile High Club is possible to achieve in 1 Minute, and my Limbo playthrough with 6 deaths really sucked. :D
But you forget the hour(s) one can spend trying to get to the hostage, even if you're a skilled player. :o

My advice is just to take your time, maybe watch the vid walkthrough and remember the exact jump points and when you have to jump. Just to compare, Splosion Man was a lot harder (especially on Hardcore) than this!
