How long is the main story (both campaigns)? I was disappointed that the last 2 games were so short. I hope this game has a more substantial storyline. This is as close to a G1 game as we will probably ever see.

10 chapters per side: each with 8 missions

On hard mode I'd say it took around 10 hours, but that's just a rough guesstimate as I didn't actually time it.

I appreciate the replys. The news is disheartening. I wish developers would put more effort into giving you your $60 worth. 10 hours no matter how great the gameplay doesn't cover it. Red Dead Redemption had a long story and really good multiplayer (I almost never play online and I played it). Hopefully there will be some DLC ill probably play both campaigns twice and decepticons a time or two more. If its fun.

I hate when people say it's just "run and gun" type of game. I felt the same way about cod and rdr, it all comes down to the story. I am very excited for this and this kids review was below average.

I can assure you the story is well worth it. In my mind, it's easily one of, if not the, best Transformers stories. And honestly the game is just long enough and it's extremely satisfying. I think few people will genuinely be disappointed.

Don't be discouraged by the short story mode MW2 had about the same length (I know me and a freind were in my house on release night and we beat the campaign on Veteran by 9 that morning). They intentionally made it so that the story would be satisfying to fans but on that same note but a extreme amount of thought and preparation into multiplayer. Its one of the most balanced multiplayer games I've seen (as far as 3rd person goes) in a long time. A class with the right approach can take down a Soldier with gusto; I'd know. It is in my opinion worth the money spent and to be honest look at the movie games they made and face it they were not in any way fantastic. In closing if your a fan and want a fast and furious multiplayer experience then I'd say give it a try. My only complaint from the demo is(and I hope this isnt in the finished product) lack of host migration which for those not versed in the terminology. If the person acting as game host QQ's because hes not winning and leave the game via dashboard modem reset what not he screws everyone in the game he was playing out of any experience they may have acquired in said match.

I'm wondering if they'll talk about Sunstorm since they say he was on Cybertron with Starscream during the war. One can hope. Tsuk, thanks for bringing up that CoD was only about 10 hours too. I was thinking about it myself.

The only question I wanna know is will the story and gameplay keep me going, I love Transformers and the demo was really fun, even if its only 8-9 hours as long as its fun thats what I want.

I've heard mention of Skywarp and Thundercracker but not Sunstorm. The jets have always been repaints and Sunstorm would be no exception. Isn't he cloned from Starscream? He might be an NPC but I think they are sticking with the well known characters from the 80's cartoon series. Personally I hope they do add DLC." Me Grimlock want in game" (sorry couldn't resist).

At the moment he is DS only :(

But, we can always hope for DLC.

On hard it took about 11 hours, level 9 being the longest. Also decepticon campaign was much easier then the autobots one.

wait 10 hours for both campaigns? or 10 hours each? Im down for 2 5 length campaigns, sick of games be artificially elongated

He was just a repaint, but he was the second transformer to have a never ending spark like Starscream. (If I remember right) Like you brother, I'd love to have Grimlock in the game too. (I'm way too obsessed with TF, I'm currently working on a transformers sleeve.)

10hrs is not short, its better than average considering most games weigh in around 7-8hrs to complete the story modes

All in all the game is short but awesome! They def focused more on the MP but thats ok because it is actually well balanced, imagine that, a well balanced MP game. The story is the best Transformers any thing since Beast Wars, everything since Beast Wars was like a dull knife twisting away at my childhood. My only complaint was that you didn't get enough playable characters in story, only one F'n level as Star Scream?!! Are you kidding me!!!

I'm of the opinion that any game is as long as you want it to be. I'm towards the end of Chapter 4 and have put about 4 or 5 hours into it. I am, however, taking my time hunting for the hidden sigils and trying for the level specific achievements while playing on Hard. It is extremely fun and, so far, paced perfectly.

I didn't finish it at all yet...not even close (playing it on hard). played about 2 hours or so. What I can say is I am an average gamer and it sure as hell seems like it is gonna go beyond the 10 hour mark on hard. I have not touched multiplayer yet cause the PRIME MODE achievement has got me a bit pissed. thats alot of grinding. At least theres not that much this summer (games coming out) so if you want a 1000 points...you got time!

And as for the guy that compares this game to Modern Warfare 2 in comparison to time...YEAH RIGHT....MY ASS ! I finished that on veteran in about 9 hours...I have to seriously say that this will take longer...easily !

Good to know, I just ordered it and will be getting my hands on it tomorrow. I loved the cartoon growing up and looking forward to the more adult approach to the fighting, seeing Optimus slash a decepticon right in half with his axe in the trailer got me drooling, you never saw anything like that in the old cartoon.

Even if the campaign runs short I'm looking forward to the story, have been since I was little with all those teasing history bits about cybertron before they left and crashed on Earth.

So long as Peter Cullen is still doing the voice for Optimus Prime, there is always a place for Transformers in my life. :woop:

I personally think it is a decent length although I know many people that think the main campaign is too short...The multiplayer is where it's at though!

Psh, I think the Campaign length is just fine! Seriously, unless you're some uber-gamer, who can run thru any game 1st try on extreme hard modes, and then come on here and brag how "easy" a game is, it's gonna take some time. Granted, I would love more experience with the story, but that's what (inevitable) sequels are for. How long was Halo/2/3? How long was CoD(any)? How long was any shooter you've played recently?

Point is, this game is average length to most games in it's class. Hell, to most games period. Unless you are playing an RPG or maybe a sports franchise, or sim game, you aren't gonna really squeeze out that many more hours for a standard story/campaign mode in any game.

I am almost done with deception campign, and If it's about same length as autobot...I would say it is worth it, and much longer than other transformers games (movies or whatnot)..

And I'm enjoying it more as well...To each his own I guess!
