While doing the press rounds for his new film Jonah Hex (http://uk.movies.ign.com/objects/040/040155.html), Josh Brolin (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/915/915966.html) has been discussing The Goonies 2 (http://uk.movies.ign.com/objects/055/055940.html), and it seems that the news is both good and bad for fans of the 1985 fantasy flick.
Brolin - who played Brandon Walsh in the film - told Extra (http://extratv.warnerbros.com/2010/06/josh_brolins_exclusive_dish_on_goonies_sequel.php) that that there is definitely a script, but no plans to actually shoot it.
"Doing a sequel is something that keeps coming up and keeps coming up" he explained. "I saw [producer] Steven Spielberg (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/916/916595.html) on the street about a month-and-a-half ago, and I asked him the reality because I was told by many, many people that there was a script but that didn't work and [director] Richard Donner (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/913/913344.html) but that didn't work and Steven was going to come in and do it.
"And I hear that there is a script, yes, but there's no talk of doing a Goonies (http://uk.movies.ign.com/objects/792/792827.html) sequel at this very moment. And that's the first time I've been truthful about that answer ever!"
So sounds like we're no nearer to seeing the further adventures Mouth, Data, Chunk and co, but as ever, we'll have further news on this one as and when it breaks.
