Rodriguez Offered Deadpool?

The Deadpool (http://uk.movies.ign.com/objects/040/040152.html) movie may be close to hiring a director.

The Playlist (http://theplaylist.blogspot.com/2010/06/robert-rodriguez-offered-deadpool.html) reports that 20th Century Fox has offered the job to writer-director Robert Rodrguez (Desperado, Sin City). This is a project that Rodriguez is considering, but of course, nothing is set in stone.

This is the second offer in five months that Fox has pitched to Rodriguez, preceded by an offer to helm the new Planet of the Apes reboot (which Rodriguez declined). But this could be a telling sign that Fox likes what they see of the director's upcoming film Machete (http://uk.movies.ign.com/objects/143/14343587.html). He also wrote and produced their upcoming Predators (http://uk.movies.ign.com/objects/429/429477.html) sequel.

Ryan Reynolds (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/917/917185.html) is presumably still attached to reprise his role as the title character in Deadpool (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/923/923963.html), and Zombieland scribes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are still hard at work on finishing the screenplay. Currently, Rodriguez plans to shoot Spy Kids 4 (http://uk.movies.ign.com/objects/035/035804.html): Armageddon this summer, and Predators is hitting theaters on July 9th, with the subsequent Machete set for a September 3rd release.

Spy Kids 4! Seriously.. I wish I could slap them right now for even thinking of making another. Why would you want that movie on your CV? Idiots!

Anyways.. DEADPOOL! Hopefully it'll get going soon caus it could be a good film. Robert just needs to get his act together and realise that SK4 is a flop and super hero films is where the money's at!

I'm sorry how did he get the budget for SK4? How did he manage to pitch for a 4th.. its most likely gonna be a chessy 3D again.. ok rant over!

Spy Kids 4 = wicked fail. I find it hard to believe there's been three of these terrible movies already; we certainly don't need another.

On the flipside, I'm not entirely opposed to a Predators sequel; as classic as the first ones were, they were still kind of jokey. I'd like to see Predator today with modern cinema effects and a strong storyline (maybe as a prequel even?).

Other than that, Deadpool is good news. Even better with the mention of Ryan Reynolds (RAWWR). In my opinion, he should abandon Spy Kids and get to work on this. I mean, why would you even want to do Spy Kids anymore? Aren't those kids like in their early 20's by now? Sheesh.
