Episode Three will end up tying in with Portal somehow, since you uncover the entrance to the Aperture lab at the end of Episode Two...I was sad to hear Portal 2 info was cancelled, but knowing Valve, they're just putting it off to make it even better. As much as I hate their conception of time (http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Valve_Time), it's almost always worth the wait.

I can't wait for Episode 3, I just hope my PC can still play it like the others.

Maybe the good news is the cancellation of Portal 2.

Or maybe.....it's the announcement of Left 4 Dead 3, Counter-Strike 2, Day of Defeat 2, or Team Fortress 3.
LOL. Come on, we all know that Valve is that lame, that they would make sequels to their games when the originals are still broken/not dated.

The cake is a lie.
And now we're probably getting Left 4 Dead 3 (they've released one every year so far, why stop milking the money cow?)

Yeah right, Portal is amazing and one of the most original games to come along in some time. The second one should be awesome but you never know, they might drop the ball (doubt it).

Haha, careful.
I remember someone not long ago going on a major bitching session about someone else mentioning "Valve Time".
(You know, even though Valve Time is one of the only stupid little phrases like that, that is accurate :p).
Would love to see an Episode 3 :D

Wasn't a fan of the Half-Life games but I did enjoy the Portal game a lot. I also think every single person who mentions the word cake in this thread beforehand and afterward should be pointed to the 'phrases I now hate' thread.

Original? Prey came out in 2005 and was in production since '97. LOOOONG before Portal, or Half Life, or even Valve.

Prey came out on 2006. Besides Narbacular Drop came in 2005 so it predated both of them.

I wouldn't necessarily say before, since Valve was formed in what, '95 or '96?
And as for being original? Yes, it is. Prey had portals in them. But you couldn't use them like Portal. And I'm sure there may have been a few more games out there that used portals, as well. So Prey wouldn't have set the bar anywhere.
And, if it was in development so damn long. How come it still sucked?
Back OT. I would really enjoy hearing about Episode 3. Been too damned long since Episode 2 dropped. I need more Half-Life! haha.

As someone else has already stated, Prey sucked and was stuck in developmental hell for nearly a decade. Valve has been around for a while, they were founded in 1996 and Half Life (their first game) came out in 1998. OT, Portal 2 should be amazing and one of the most anticipated games of the year.

Thought Valve came around in '98, my mistake.
Also the only differences between Portal and Prey is in Portal, you can make them, and in Prey, portals could change the entire dimensions of the game (Which I think is much better).
I don't see how Prey sucked aside from the easy difficulties.
I can't fucking stand Portal, after beating it on The Orange Box, I never clicked on it again. Glados is such an fucking annoying character, which really hampered my enjoyment of the game.

Wait, are they pulling the plug on Portal 2, or just not presenting it at E3?

As much as I would like that to be Episode 3 or maybe even Half-Life 3 (that would be Full-Life 1.5), it's probably going to be Left4Dead 3. It's highly unlikely this is going to something else - Counter Strike, Team Fortress, Black Mesa mod.

Maybe they're canceling a Portal 2 display at E3 because there's a new Orange Box with HL2ep3, Portal 2 AND TF3 inside? :D
... Nah, I'll be realistic. :p If anything, HL2ep3 would be a great announcement, because HL2ep2 left us with a terrible cliffhanger. Portal did not.

That's a shame, I was looking forward to seeing it a E3. But hey, at least they're not pulling the plug on it.

I remember reading in a gameinformer mag that Valve said they had no half life news for this year, so either gameinformer is lying, which I hope, or we're looking at something else. Not L4D3, they wouldn't do that. And glados was a really funny character, made portal the great game it was!

Half Life 3.

The surprise is Gabe Newell is gonna be punched in the dick by everyone in the industry for announcing the wrong third game in a series. (Left 4 Dead 3 instead of Episode 3 or Half Life 3.)

That too bad, Portal is probably one of the greatest games ever compared to how little the story actually is

lmao at the link.
Why is it taking sooo long to finish episode 3? I mean really? They obviously have the story nailed down, and most of the ingame assets are already done. So in my mind, they just need to code it, test it, and ship it? Unless they are doing it on another engine, which means starting over from the ground up. But why bother doing that? Ship the freaking episode already!
Anyways, I seriously hope they aren't doing L4D3, not much of a fan. Portal 2 would be cool, but I would rather TF3 much more. Or maybe something brand new.

i could care about Portal 2.
id lose all faith in Valve if they announced L4D3.
team fortress, maybe, but who cares (dont hate).
counter strike 2, 0.01% chance.
any news on half life, instant hard on.

I hope it's Half-Life 3. I think they should just skip Episode 3 & reveal their new engine with amazing graphics.

Valve updated Portal to end on a cliffhanger also when the first news of Portal 2 came out.
Also people. Valve has stated that Episodes 1-3 are Half-Life 3, so there is no chance of HL3. Mayby HL4 but that would mean that they should get Episode 3 out first.
