Sherlock Sequel Sets a Date

Robert Downey Jr.'s other money-minting franchise, Sherlock Holmes (http://uk.movies.ign.com/objects/142/14258109.html), will unleash more Guy Ritchie goodness almost two years to the day the first movie was released.

The Hollywood Reporter confirms (http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/news/e3ifeb8cbc990332c1c8ece0b50741f3da3) that Sherlock Holmes 2 (http://uk.movies.ign.com/objects/045/045815.html) will hit theatres December 16, 2011. The release date was revealed in a recent presentation by Warner chairman and CEO Barry Meyer. His appearance was part of Time Warner's investor day.

The first film came out Christmas Day 2009, and became a substantial hit for the studio.

More release dates for other high-profile WB project were revealed at the presentation. They include: The Hangover 2 (http://uk.movies.ign.com/objects/020/020064.html) (May 26, 2011), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II (http://uk.movies.ign.com/objects/143/14325037.html) (July 15, 2011) and Happy Feet 2 (http://uk.movies.ign.com/objects/142/14214134.html) (Nov. 18, 2011).

I watched Sherlock in theaters and I fell asleep watching it. Just wasnt my kind of movie.

I absolutely loved Sherlock Holmes, and would more than welcome a prequel or sequel to the story and characters. Robert Downey Jr. is always great to see on the screen.

I can't wait for this sequel! While they deviated from the original story (don't they always?) it was still really enjoyable. The cast was fabulous, and Downey played a remarkable Holmes. I just have to wonder how they'll do the next movie...

Hmmm, i really liked the first one two..... hope they make it exciting. I don't know about you guys, but the movie kept me on edge along with my interest because i wanted to find out if this guy was magical or not (i knew he wasn't btw). It was cool seeing all his tricks and Sherlock uncovering them during the movie.

I'd love it if Moriarty made it into the story at some point. It seems like he's always mentioned before the end credits of these films as if he will be in the sequel. Usually there's never a sequel.

I think we're almost guaranteed that he'll be the main villain in the next one, if not a minor villain being devious in the background like he was in the first; later on down the road they'll use bits and pieces from his role in each film to make one epic movie.

I found that movie to be flat out stupid. So I'm not to worried about a 2nd one. I just found the movie to be way to corny.

Not the best movie but certainly not the worst, i thought the first movie was alright and ill watch the 2nd one just for the hell of it, but HELL NO im not seeing it in theatres.
