Anyone else not digging this look? I personally enjoyed the glass cases and it's not like you can access the games any easier this way. You still have to call someone over to unlock the cases if you want a game.

So it's not just my Target, then.
I was really flipped out when I saw this. I'm like "Wait, where are the games?"

Since it's out of the case, I assume you can pick it and look at it. Also, I assume you can just take it to the register and have them unlock it for you. I like it. You don't have to wait for someone to come over and unlock the case and all that nonsense.

This. They're in those ridiculously huge giant cases I'm used to seeing at Toys R' Us.

Based off that picture, it looks like they're by themselves, individually grouped with those stupid theft alarm thing, not in a case. Oh well, then it's not much of change at all. I like the way Best Buy does it; much better that way. And it's not like I shop at Target for my video games anyway.

Target has better deals and better clearances than Best Buy. Now with their $5 Free Gift Cards w/ Pre-order, Target is becoming a bigger player in the video game area.
I absolutely love the new layout. Endcaps have demo systems set up instead of being thrown in between the glass cases. Yes, you still need to ask for assistance but you can now grab the game and look at the back cover, as they are in a theft case attached to a cord. It keeps things neat and tidy, games stay in the right place, plus it curtails theft. In a perfect world you could just grab the game and go but with electronics being the #2 area of theft at Target (cosmetics is #1), the theft cases are a necessary component. Target didn't re-design it for you to get the games easier. THAT'S THE PROBLEM. People steal them, Target feels they need to be locked. You hit a button and they are there in 45 seconds.
If you haven't been to Target recently I say go check it out!

I love Target clearance. Target's my second favorite place to buy games (right after Amazon)

I miss the old huge glass cases in Toys R' Us back in the day that showed off the systems nicely and any accessories you could buy for it. Then the way you got your games was grabbing a voucher and taking it to the cashier where after you pay and take your receipt to a windowed stock room and got your game. Thankfully theres a TRU like that by my dads place in Medford. Everytime I go to visit I always have to make a stop there. Brings back childhood memories:)

Lol, definitley agreed. Target had the same thing before. Don't know why Toys R Us bothered to put their games in little plastic boxes so nobody would "steal them". Unless you punch a hole through a glass cabinet (ouch) nobody would steal from it anyways.
Off Topic: Am I the only one who likes Target food? Don't mean the brand either. The actual little "mini restaraunt" they have in some.

Lol sometimes if I don't know what to eat for lunch I'll hit up Target for a nachos or popcorn with a drink. Mine also has a small Starbucks and pizza hut in it so you have choices. The one closest to me also started carrying the pizza hut pastas as well.

I saw this at Target days ago. Looks a hell lot better than those big glass cases.

Does it really matter? Whether they're in little plastic boxes, or a giant glass case, you still have to call somebody over to help you buy a game.
I like how Gamestop does it, actually. All of the games have cases on a shelf. You want a game, you take the case to the clerk and they pop in the disk and you're good to go.
Doesn't really affect me though. I do most of my game buying online now. Shipping prices are cheaper than a gallon of gas now days. :p

One of the pawnshops used to do that, they stopped doing it recently.
At a CD place where you can get CDs, LPs, DVDs & Games, they keep the discs behind the counter. You just bring them the case if you want to buy it.

Don't really see a problem with this. Found it hard walking down those narrow aisles anyway.

I think it's nice so you can view the back of the cases instead of front only.
It seems like they shrunk it down so as to have less stock. Not a fan.

I don't like it. You still need a employee to get a game for you as only a display game is outside the glass.
I think the only stores that did it right are Best Buy and Gamestop. Glass cases are just so much fail especially in stores like Target and Walmart where employees are never around.

Not being able to get the game yourself is a bit of a pin but hey.. in Australia, im pretty sure they havent changed the layouts yet :)
