Deadline (http://www.deadline.com/2010/05/reliance-bigs-judge-dredd-deal-makes-scifi-film-a-hot-cannes-pre-sale-title/) reports that the Cannes film festival is abuzz over DNA Films' proposed new Judge Dredd (http://uk.movies.ign.com/objects/041/041175.html) movie, which Reliance Big Entertainment will finance. The project was scripted by Alex Garland (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/918/918263.html), the screenwriter of 28 Days Later and Sunshine but perhaps best known to gamers for penning the aborted Halo (http://uk.movies.ign.com/objects/040/040236.html) movie.

Pete Travis (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/915/915049.html) (Vantage Point) is attached to direct.

This Judge Dredd film promises to go back to the character's 2000AD comic book roots. The film's budget will reportedly be in the $50 million range.

This would be awesome. Haven't watched the first one in quite some time. But it was one of my favorite movies growing up. Definitely gonna look out for this one.

This could be fun. I never turn away from a reboot/remake cause it never hurts anyone. Now the days when remakes start giving me stomach cramps, then I'll start complaining.

I watched the first one all the time when I was a munchkin. Hopefully the costumes will be better.

pshhhh, i'd love to see another judge Dredd movie personally.. but i think they'll just fuck up the casting.... probably cast Jaime Foxxx to do it...
