Universal Pictures has reportedly tapped Nicholas Stoller (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/142/14242698.html) (Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Get Him to The Greek) to rewrite the script for its upcoming toy-to-film Stretch Armstrong (http://uk.movies.ign.com/objects/034/034254.html), which will star Twilight's Taylor Lautner (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/142/14268820.html) in the title role as the pliable hero.
According to The Los Angeles Times (http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/movies/2010/04/taylor-lautner-stretch-armstrong-nicholas-stoller-rob-letterman.html), Stoller will revise Steve Oedekerk's original draft for Imagine and Hasbro. Furthermore, the paper reports that Rob Letterman (http://uk.stars.ign.com/objects/143/14331262.html) (Monsters vs. Aliens) will direct.
Stretch Armstrong is based on the iconic action figure made popular around the world beginning in the 1970s and re-launched in the 1990s. Academy Award-winning producer Brian Grazer (A Beautiful Mind, American Gangster) will team with Hasbro to bring Stretch Armstrong to life. The 3D superhero adventure will be released spring 2012.
