Challenge Guide

I was surprised that nobody had done a guide to the challenges before. The main game guide presumes that everyone can play Expert on all instruments and that Diamonds are easy to get - but quite often they are not possible on the lower difficulties. I can hit 100% on medium difficulty for most songs but sometimes there are just not enough notes in the song to get Platinum or Diamond.

I've split all the songs up here by instrument to make them easier to find. It would help if people can post the minimum difficulty that is required for each challenge, and any tips they may have.

I really doubt they disable cheevos. If a 'harder' game (they're both easy though) like GH5 allows those cheats, why wouldn't BH ?

I was thinking the same thing. I haven't gotten around to trying it but I figure a "Achievements Disabled" message of sort would pop up if I enter a cheat so I guess I will try it and find out.

The no fail cheat brings up a message saying something about cheats disabling achievements. So yeah, I think it'd warn you if the one you were using would disable them.

They don't disable offline achievements. I used them for several achievements, including the challenges listed above.

They only disable achievements where you have to play online against another player.

you've got "L.E.S Artistes - Santigold" under guitar challenges as "must be done on hard". In hard this song only has 659 notes which will only get you platinum. If you want diamond this must be done on expert!

For Big Country - In a Big Country you've also got "must be done on hard". There are not enough notes in the solo sections on hard to get diamond, only platinum. If you want diamond you must do it on expert.

Same deal on Dashboard Confessional - Hands Down. Hard will only get you platinum, you must do expert to get diamond.

Similarly for KT Tunstall - Black Horse and the Cherry Tree, medium will only get you platinum. For diamond you must do hard or expert.

Now for bass challenges:

For OK Go - A Million Ways, medium as you recommended will only get you platinum. You need to do it on at least hard to get diamond.

For All-American Rejects - Dirty Little Secret, hard will only get you platinum. You must do expert to get diamond.

For Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals - Steal My Kisses, medium will only get you platinum. You will need to do it on at least hard (expert?) to get diamond.

For Janet Jackson - Black Cat, medium will only get you platinum as the song only has 443 notes. You must play on at least hard (expert?) to get diamond.

I can confirm Filter - Take A Picture (and all the other challenges to hold a 4x multiplier for a certain length of time) can easily be done on easy for diamond.

For Robbie Williams and Kylie Minogue - Kids, you can easily get diamond on hard as there are 1015 notes.

For The Kooks - Naive, you can only get platinum on hard (there are only 325 notes). To get diamond you must play on expert.

For 3 Doors Down - When I'm Gone, you can only get platinum on hard (not enought notes in the solo for diamond). To get diamond you must play expert.

I understood this guide to be just to get the achievement the easiest way possible. To get it you have to just have 50 challenges at platinum or diamond. You don't have to diamond all of them. That would be why he put the easiest difficulty you could get platinum on and just be done with it.

I can confirm that Honky Tonk Women by The Rolling Stones (Streak) has to be done on Medium since on easy the FC is 353 and the platinum star challenge is a 400 note streak

Are these challenges like the Guitar Hero 5 challenges where if you do an individual instrument challenge you can have another non-challenge instrument on beginner feeding you star power?

I've got nearly every bass/guitar challenge at platinum/diamond but there aren't 50 of those and I suck at drumming/singing
