Something that I discovered, which many of you might already know, is that when you're looking to build scratch on a boss's body bar, jumping during a hero action is not always the most efficent way. I was getting raped by the boss in Chapter 6 (the one without Leanne, aka no tri-attacks which is what I'm used to using.) He's got armor bars virtually everywhere, which are very difficult to damage. If you jump during a hero action, it spreads out the damage, making it virtually impossible for you to kill him before someone ends up frozen. However, there is a small area of no armor in he backside, so if you do a hero action that lets you run by that spot and get a decent chain there, he's very easy.

TLDR version: For best scratch damage on tough foes, check to see if there's a spot where you can unload in the body on the ground instead of jumping.

Also, yes, I am a noob :P

a good tip for newbies still using jumping hero actions all the time.. hard to change an attack style that works until it stops working on something.. i think thats also why many people forget that taking out body parts gains you bezels, but more importantly unique items you would not normally get, these are for the most part only good for side quests, but its a good tip nevertheless that obviously isn't explained in the tutorial.

you may be a newbie, but you're certainly not a noob

That was a little pita for me. Right as I had his body full scratch I got froze and had to wait like 5 turns before I unfroze lol. Maybe I'm the noob but I've never used a tri-attack on a boss yet and haven't really had any problems. The only boss that has given me any kind of problems was the turtle machine thing in the power station but that's before I realized I was dumb for not hiding behind the bunkers.

Yeah if you jump the damage is spread out, and you cant get a knockback, but if your targets body is fully screatched its a great way to kill an opponent from virtually anywhere on the board with a pistol.

Other such handy knowledge:

Among other things charging up the machinegun increases the amount of scratch damage, while charging up the pistol increases the chance of a guage break (breaking a section into smaller pieces that give you a bezel when they are destroyed)

If all your opponents are Melee attackers and there is a piece of higher ground you cant walk to, hero action jump to it (X to mark where you want to go, and X to jump while moving)

If your looking for body part item drops, doing a hero action, jumping, and allowing your machinegun to fully charge up will take out all outer bodyparts that arent hardened (like the 4 points on the spider carrier thing). Then a hero action jump with a pistol will hit all those parts, shattering them.

The Gunmen's front and back shields are really easy to break. Either shoot the guy with a machinegun pistol from his side, or first shoot him with a handgun to remove it.

Falling during a hero action (walking off a higher area) cuases you to pause in your path while your charge continues to power up. this is a great way to gain that extra bit of power if you are a slow charger.

If you wait at the press start screen a cut scene will play that gives you a fair bit of the plot.
