X360A vs. The Rest of The World - Lost Planet 2 Multiplayer Demo

If you've been following the news on the main page (http://www.xbox360achievements.org/news/news-4746-Get-Lost-Again-With-a-New-Lost-Planet-2-Multiplayer-Versus-Demo-Next-Week.html), you'll be aware that a Lost Planet 2 multiplayer demo is coming on April 21st. We're teaming up with Capcom and co to give 16 of you lucky buggers the chance to play the demo early and get involved in some inter-community competitive multiplayer action.

On April 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th at 8PM GMT we'll have two teams facing off against Capcom's community and the Official Xbox.com community, in a bid to win battle of the communities... a tag I just thought of... pretty cool, huh?

In order to be able to be in with a chance of this awesome event, we're looking for people who can commit - and even practice - before and on those dates above. We're looking for friendly, non-thrash talking individuals who are up for giving the rest of the internet a run for their money.

Seeing as we'll be splitting the groups up into two teams of 8, you need to be available at those times every evening for the official match ups. So please don't commit unless you can make it. Every time someone lets someone down on this community, a small kitty gets thrown under a bus (true story).

Codes will be going out more than a few days before, but we're looking to build two teams very soon.

Of course, senior - and awesome - community members stand a better chance of being selected, but don't let that deter you from signing up as chances are, we'll be looking to throw a few newbies into the fray as well!

UPDATE: Demo games are capped to ten minutes each. It'll be best of 3 rounds, data post battle (capture the flag), so around 30 mins of gameplay.

I have the codes and final match-ups, I'll go around tomorrow and sort out teams and what not. Codes won't work till tomorrow anyway, but you get a good week's practice ahead of our showdowns with Capcom and Xbox.com.

It'll be 2 teams of 8, with a super-sub that'll be available, but only for the last few days of play... that's me if you're interested. More emphasis on sub than on super.

Can we be aware that those that have signed up have effectively committed to seeing this through to the end. Not turning up will leave your team short. Once the teams and codes are dished out, you'll have to communicate with your teams to arrange practice/match days and what not.

There are prizes for the winning team ;) But this is a fun event and anyone taking it too seriously and/or being obnoxious in the game will get seriously annoy me... and that's not fun :p That doesn't mean don't win... that's a must! Just do it graciously.

Anyway, the dates are actually the 6th to the 10th. Each team will be expected to turn up at 7:45/7:50 for a prompt 8:00 start and you'll play each other once, best of 3, starting with the X360A A team versus the X360A B team on the 6th. A and B are not references to skill before you say anything ;)

I'll communicate with the captains as to who their opposition contact is after later on in the week.

I just played my first match and I must admit, I really like it. Very similar to LP1. The grenade damage is RIDICULOUS though!

The grenade damage has always been high in Lost planet. The really wierd thing is.. is that you can survive a full on hit from the Rocket launcher but a grenade will mess you up.... Ive played a few games and found my stride again from from LP1.

Edit: If theres anybody online who fancys a few games on the Demo for the next hour or so from either team then send me FR.

Now that I'm finally not lagging I hopped back on and I can see a huge difference in playability.

Almost used to the rifle again, had to turn the aiming sensitivity down to 3 and ended up going 12 kills 0 deaths.

We're playing CTF so how affective a nade spam strategy will be is doubtful. Best to save em for when VS's turn up ;) The weapon to have though is the shotgun, 1-hit kills pretty much all the time!

Whatever team wins, Webb pays for PAX West admissions. But you have to wear one of his "special" costumes. He has many, many costumes...

I had a few matches last night with some Lag but most where Ok but damn this game online is alot harder than the first, I was pretty good on LP1 but shit i was getting messed up last night quite abit, I had some really good games aswell but damn alot harder than LP1 for sure. Didnt playing any FFA but post grab without a good team is hella hard!

I nipped on for a few matches last night, took a little getting used to at first but I'm not doing so bad now :)

I'd give away a few little tips I've learned, but that would give Team A hints - even though we know Team B will trounce them :P

Have to say though, most people are just using the Grenade/ Machine Gun kill combo :(

I prefer the team games too rather than free-for-all, although I've started reaching the heights of top three placings now ;)

Nope i dont think we have any info on the Capcom team, I really hope there not going to use Testers or Devs for there teams. It would be a really unfare advantage in there favour. Need to hear back from them anyway because atm its looking like there may not be a tournament if we cant change teams.

I have a feeling BTHR zero x will be on one of the capcom teams and he was ranked number 1 for ages on the leaderboards, played agasint him before and he always did well.

I was thinking about it and I think that teams are possibly generated in order of who joins the game. Maybe something like red team, blue team, red team, etc. Maybe not though. It's something we can try though if we can't get the teams sorted out otherwise.

Hiya folks , Over on xbox.com we've been wondering what the craic is with the tourney. Lowestformofwit the moderator who organised our side of things posted this earlier in reply to an email he sent to capcom.
We're still going to get people online and hopefully have a few games this week anyway.

Actually, I was just about to phone Capcom when I received an email from them...

The email states that there has been an oversight from the development team with regards to team selection - in short, the demo doesn't allow any.

The recommendation is that the meet-ups should still go ahead so you can have a play and get to know people from the other communities and we'll sort out a proper tournament on the game's release to make up for it.

They apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate all those who participate.

Arrr shit...I was looking forward to this tournament aswell, Still be kool to jump on and play some games with the other teams. Look on the bright side if they re-organise this for when the game comes out it gives us more time to get used the game and practice :)

Yeah - Weebles sent me a text earlier to confirm that this was a no go. If people are still up for a bit of practice then that is cool. I'll message all of my team tonight and see who is still interested.

Don't feel bad if you don't feel like attending now that this is no longer an official event as you may have to give your time up closer to launch (when they sort it out) so don't feel like attendance is mandatory. I'll try and get on for some nights myself but may well miss others.

On topic, I don't know If I'd still be up for this if we have to buy the game. The demo was ok, but didn't really blow me away or anything. I'll just wait and see what they have planned closer to release.
