View Full Version : Exact Replica of LOST Island found in Just Cause 2

Are you a fan of the hit TV (http://www.****************.com/forums/showthread.php?t=122469#) series "Lost"? Well it would appear that the people over at Eidos are.
A special hidden Easter egg has been discovered by players (http://www.****************.com/forums/showthread.php?t=122469#) of Just Cause 2, this being a hidden Island on the map, which is a perfect replica of the "Lost" Island.
If you fly over the Island in a plane it will burst into flames and crash, upon parachuting down to the island you will see words etched into the sand.
Some gamers (http://www.****************.com/forums/showthread.php?t=122469#) are also claiming that they can hear the "Smoke Monster" stalking the Island, but I think they may be getting a little caught up in the whole thing.

Well your first hint should have been when all of a sudden it gets all dark and stormy. Second, you should have guessed something was up when you hear the big tower powering up.

God this is insanely awesome. I'm a huge Lost fan. I've logged about 8 hours into the game just screwing around and have yet to find this.

It's actually all explained in the faction mission "Stranded" (Not too sure about the name)

For those who are thinking of merely renting it...I say, just buy it! There is so much to do that you'd be hard pressed to just rent it to find the stuff. Part of the fun is just exploring, trying new stuff. Kudos to Eidos for an awesome game.

I agree, the size of this game is unbelievable. It's amazing that they get a game world this big with such good draw distance without any pop-in. I don't know how Mercs 2 had such amazingly shitty pop-in. The tech behind this game is great. It's shame the voice acting is so terrible.

Boy, you're not kidding. That's the first thing we were making fun of. The accents are....horrible. ANd that's putting it lightly.
But hey, this is about fun and action! Therein, the game succeeds!

Sick, cant get enough of this game, been playing for about 10 hours and ive only done the first 3 story missions and about 6 takeovers! Cant wait to find this Island, ive spent most of my time driving a car off of the various peaks all over the map, that never gets old.

Everyone who's looking for the island, it's in the top left. It's the most top left island.
It's simply the island you visit during the Ular Boys faction mission "Stranded". I don't know if I would say it's an EXACT replica. In fact, I don't believe I've found a cave like Jack's hideout in the first season, or anything like that. So, let's say its a homage to LOST, not an exact replica.

Well the shape of it and everything is the same. Would've been cool if the other islands were nearby. God with a hydra station, the black rock, everything. That would be so awesome.
Really we just need another Lost game. I don't care what anybody says I fully enjoyed Via Domus.

Ive been looking at my map that i got with the Limited Edition, one of the 14 points marked on the map (number 6) appears to be another easter egg type place. A replica of the giant satellite called the goldeneye in the James Bond movie Goldeneye. Ive only seen the pic on my map so far so it might not be but it looks bloody similair, im going to confirm back on here as soon as i get a chance to find out.
And another easter egg! Number 7 on the map is called the Cape Carnival Rocket Base, not that ive ever been, but that is no doubt a replica of the famous american rocket/shuttle launch station at Cape Canaveral.
I dont have a camera to post a pic or video of these places but i do have the co-ordinates, now thats old school exploration! On your Datapad the co-ordinates show up in the top right corner.
Giant 'Goldeneye' Satellite Dish:
X: 23440m, Y: 17420m
on the bottom edge of the snowy moutains, before it all changes to tropical
Cape Carnival Rocket Base:
X: 30172m, Y:14068m
on the edge of the big tropical island located to the bottom right of the snowy mountains area.

Yea, amazing game for sure. Yea, the mission check point structure is annoying as hell, and there is some technical glitches, but overall, this game is gorgeous. :drunk
Its nice thats its there but maybe if they had done a little more with it like put the others there to fight or takeover and the smoke monster roaming the island kicking your ass would of made this the best easter egg ever.

Yeah but youve got to take into account that most of those things are probably the sort of thing Eidos would have had to pay whoever owns LOST for, as they are prob copyright to the LOST franchise itself.

As a huge LOST fan, I found this to be one of, if not the coolest, Easter egg in a game in a very long time. My roommate and I were freaking out, like we were 14 again, because we were so excited when the plane blew up.
"You don't think...?" he said.
We immediately saw the crashed plane on the beach and busted out laughing.
Though, I wish the light would have come on from inside the Hatch when I stood on top of it. That little extra touch would have made it so much cooler. All-in-all, kudos to Eidos!

Actually, it's not "from" Goldeneye. It's a real dish located in Puerto Rico, and it was actually shown in the movie Species before it was in Goldeneye. Although, to be fair, it was way, way cooler in Goldeneye. It was in another movie too, though I can't remember what.

Yeah, it's crazy that it's real. I don't know what it's for, though. That makes me realize, though, the other movie was Contact.

I dont remember the Lost Island on TV looking like a $...
Is there any way to turn on the switch's in the large compound with the massive tower in the center?
EDIT: did the stranded mission and used them.

The 100-year-old Japanese soldiers were funny though. Although quite weird that they could still fire guns.

It crashes your plane as long as you approach the island before you complete the faction mission that sends you to the island.
And yes, the smoke monster is there. It's just a generic soldier with smoke around him though. He won't shoot you, just run close to you and follow you around, but from far away he's quite impressive.

I found him once around the northern part of The Island. All he did was follow me around untill I killed him. :p
