Hrdd little ninja question

I just finished the game on normal and need to go back and get a few things, temples, futo time, animals, etc. I was wondering if say, i started from level 1 on the chapter select and changed the difficulty to hard and just went through the game as normal, would i be able to get the difficulty achievement as well or would i have to start again?
