This mission is a ballbuster, tried it three times now, Anyone got a good strategy? Tried using the bomber but the AA takes me down.

After setting up some minor defences around your toy box (chemical towers; level 2) Grab the tank on the right and head up where your team AI went. You can take out most of the enemy towers before the second wave.
You should be able to reach the enemy anti-air tower with the same tank without having to get too close.

Check you aren't playing on hard, that's the mistake I made.
First thing I do is set up a gas tower and barb wire on the right of the box (facing the enemy). This will take care of the first few waves by itself. Then pop down two machine guns next to the box too.
Get in the big willie tank and drive up the slope to the right and take out the mortar at the top.
Build a lvl 2 AA gun on the square on the left. This is why you need to take out the mortar.
When the first cavalry wave starts jump in the tank and blow them up as they tend to get through if you aren't careful.
Build lvl 2/3 howitzers on the other two large squares. (left of your base and where the mortar was). These will take out the other enemy positions including the AA gun on the left and work well on the tanks, cavalry. I had the one on the mortar spot pointing across first to take out the emplacements then turned it towards my toybox while the other covered the tank factory.
Once the enemy positions are gone you can then build two mortars on either side of the bridge below your toybox and one across the river on the left ( or a lvl 2 machine gun).
Jump in the whippet and drive across the river and up the hill to take out the AA gun on the summit. It's hard to hit but you can destroy it if you get the position right. You want to time it so you're there when the big tanks appear so you can clean them up easy as you'll be right next to the factory.
Then go across the bridge and take out the mortar near the tunnel entrance.
Build lvl 3 mortars there and on the double space next to the track. Build up all your positions etc and then jump into the whippet to fight off the tanks in the last wave (make sure you sell your AA gun and turn it into a lvl 3 howitzer after the last plane wave).
Then hop into the bomber when the train appears and keep bombing it, with the mortars and howitzers as well it should die.
Good use of the tanks helps on this level a lot, as does filling the area in front of and leading up to the toybox with barb wire.

Best tip I have for that level is to immediately get into the Sniper Tower, then shoot apart the wall in front of the first wave barracks. You now have a perfect view of the trench. You can easily get +2000 dollars using this.
This also works for the third wave, get in the Whippet Tank and turn left, then park in the crater where they spawn.

i tend to first set up some anti infantry at the box, then destroy the mortar on the hill left of box with tank
buy and aa gun (l2, possible l3, but l2 will always do i think), and then start tanking the other enemy mortars, then build your own on the spots that are now save (the enemy mortars start at 3 i think, huge range) and continue to destroy enemy mortars/aa guns w/e, at end game i always end up with howitsers/mortars on every spot there is (and the aa gun) and take a tank up the rail tracks, and keep firing forward, to the cave (if the train is hiding, you kill mini-trains this way), the 3 mortars at cave and some howitsers will help, and train is down in notime
