Do I need to finish the game to play this DLC?

I already beat the game on playthrough 1 and made it maybe halfway through playthrough 2. I know I can enter the DLC because I've already done a few missions around the starting town. But I thought I read somewhere that you can't get pass a certain point until you've finished the final mission in the original game.

Is that true? Because I'd really like to just play this DLC with my level 50 character, rather then grind through the rest of playthrough 2 just to play this DLC.

you can start the dlc anytime you want buddy.to my knowledge there is no prerequiste for you to get beyond any point during the dlc.

I love playing the game but was dreading grinding through yet another playthrough with my Siren. I'm glad to know I can just start from where I am. Thanks again.

luckily i have that kind of time,and just finished my playthrough 2 before this dlc came out,so it all worked out for me

you can always stop and go and grind the Rakk Hive until your level 50, it gives alot of XP, i leveled from 47 to 50 in under a hour by killing him.
