Anyone have any luck playing on Nightmare?

If anyone has beat the Predator campaign (I Wont post the ending). But it is downright brutal to beat and i cannot come close :(

Alien campaign seems to be the "easiest" one so far for me, and marine the hardest because of the length of the levels. Don't think I'll ever make it through as a marine :mad:

I don't think the alien and predator are to hard on nightmare I just finished predaters this morn took me bout an hour to 2. Only Hard part on predaters nigtmare is the first level when you have to fight the aliens.

Just beat it on night mare took me like 4 damn hours minus the 10 min smoke breaks here and there. I really advice people who want to do it to beat it on hard first then go straight into nightmare action just to get the feal for how to do the missions

finished pred on nightmare too, and it wasn't even that hard. For all of those interested, look for "speed run" on youtube, there are some nice tricks (thanks to XCVii 007 for making them!).

i beat alien and predator on nightmare, quiet easy. the hardest thing seems to be when you die you have to wait for those tutorials to play out again and again, when will developers learn that you should be able to turn that bullshit off, like i need to keep learning the controls over and over,, fuckin' ridiculous. the marine campaign is giving me the blues right now because he can't stand no acid splashes and can't run away quick enough after you get smacked by an alien.

I finished all 3 campaigns, the hardest part was the Marine. I think things will go easier if you play a mission on easy first, learn which things happens in what time, then play on nightmare. It is like CoD Mile High Club: try again and try again and try...

Clear an entire day of anything to do.
Get some Advil
GO SLOW.
(I used turtlebeaches and surround sound to "Sound whore" my way through)

Alien campaign on Nightmare is definietly a significant difference over the Marine campaign.

Personally, I can't even seem to get the "down time" to finish my Marine campaign let alone *one* level of the Alien campaign. I get bombed with party/game requests soon as I sign in and my lust for this game's MP takes over, ha.

I beat the Predator on Nightmare but I've come across somewhat of a glitch. The achievement for beating it on nightmare (nor did the the one for hard, if they stack) didn't pop. Questioning whether to risk playing the other two story modes on nightmare to see if the same thing happens again.

I wouldn't say that the Predator and alien campaigns are extremely hard, you just need some paitence to get through them without checkpoints, mainly because they are more stealth than straight up combat. But the Marine campaign...couldn't even do level 1 :P

Predator was pretty easy, Melee with Aliens was easy after figuring it out, just hold block, and wait for thier attack, if it is light, counter, if it is heavy then use a light just like MP. Hit them twice with a quick then go back to your block, any more and they will counter you. DONT Trophy or stealth kill unless you are absolutely sure there is nothing else around, that takes too much time. Once you get the Combi Stick, the rest is a cakewalk. For Marines, try to distract one and get him/her close to the other then charge your Plasma Caster and you can usually take out 2 with one hit.
Here are some hard parts I have heard people complaining about... and how I got through them on Nightmare...

The first Alien encounter (dousing the flames) hit the pipe right away with the battle disc, and get on the well lit grate area, don't worry too much about killing, but more about blocking, try to keep them all in front of you, if they heavy, counter it, throw the battle disc and put your block back up. Keep your eye on the flames, it doesn't take long and they are out. Sprint to the end of the hallway then turn around and finish off the 3-4 Aliens that follow with whatever you have left. I saved my plasma caster for this part, and used it in combination with the disc.

For the first pretorean fight, just stay on top of the columns and spam your Battle Disc, it shouldn't ever climb up to you, and the other Aliens can almost never hit you, just keep jumping back and forth to get good hits.

The pyramid with what seems like endless Aliens isn't... you can fight them til they are gone, but the best way is just to ignore the enemies altogether (unless they attack you) and just hit the 3 switches, the Aliens and Synthetics will fight and almost ignore you completely if you do this fast enough, once you hit the third switch the Aliens will go away, and if thier are any synthetics left, take them out with the Combi Stick.

For the final boss just keep jumping back and forth between the power generators and spamming Plasma Caster, these generators will recharge it automatically. If he gets too close, just run/jump away (walking then jumping is smarter since you can fall in the lava and die instantly if you run) I can't say anything about the other 2 campaigns since I haven't played them above normal, but this is how I got through Predator pretty easy.

The campaign's were not that bad. Marine>Predator>Alien is the order of difficulty imo. For the marine campaign try to always melee before you shoot them if they charge you otherwise you get the instant acid death. You CAN sprint away from the aliens, they may hit you once but not enough to take a bar of health off, which gives you time to reload or heal.

More just annoying than hard, the actual gameplay isn't really hard. Would have preferred it being harder but with checkpoints.

Well...glitched or not...they are still achievements and are given for doing certain tasks. No one mentioned that games weren't more than achievements. All games now are built with Achievements in them..so why even give a crap if someone else has a "glitched" achievement to get their "1000". It's just a game of many in the end of the day. Isn't this thread about people having luck with Nightmare instead of people researching others gamertags to see when they got their achievements or got the game? Atleast stay on topic. This site is about getting achievements as quickly as possible legitimately. Exploiting a glitch in the game that allows you to gain xp more quickly than the developers probably intended is, for your information, LEGIT.

There's so many games out there with the same thing going on, even the mods give tips. Are you trying to tell me you never boosted an achievement before or exploited something in a game which wasn't intended?

I will also say that I achieved it totally by accident..unaware of how effective this xp glitch is or how much it happens...got the 6000 xp achievement straight up...then while going on my marine nightmare run I got the earn 18000 xp cheevo a little bit into refinery...totally on accident not even exploiting the glitch...so are you gonna say I didn't get it legit b/c of dev. errors? What about the other achievements...he still beat all the other nightmare difficulties and got all the collectibles...not easy tasks so I think deserves a congrats for those alone..

All depending on what your favorite part of a FPS is, single-player or Multiplayer. If your a single-player fan you'll be disappointed, its incredibly short game with barely any story. There also a whole mess of little things that might urk you too but I am not going to get into details.

MP is where I guess Rebellion put most of there effort because its fairly smooth and balanced but this isnt a 5 star game, who knows how long it MP community will last (It's already hard to find rank games).

Oh and its more skill then luck on Nightmare mode, all about being good at avoiding.

Yeh, nightmare is exactly its name sake, however, I have found a way to make it slightly easier on marine (for me anyway!)
Use any weapon, however, shotgun seems to work the best, and shoot their legs out from under them. Once legless (and not in the good alcohol inducecd way) they crawl quite slowly, and allow you to hobble the other on coming Aliens. they will eventually die, or you can execute them once safe. This worked wonders on the Matriarc level as while the Aliens are still alive, new ones won't spawn. Only takes one shell and saves alot of backing up and changes of underwear. This also cures the acid splash problem, which I was also having. I'm now up to level 4, though it is still challenging, seems much easier.

I earn my cheevs wherever I can and liked that it actually takes some skill to get 2 persecutors, 10 kill streak and do all campaigns on nightmare. I was fully prepared to get the 18k legit but Rebellion left in a dumb glitch, so I chose to save myself some time.

I've got a near fool proof guide to the last Marine level if anyone needs some help, can even kill the 2 praetorians with a pistol.

I'll no doubt continue playing AVP ranked until FFXIII anyway, I just get to look good while doing it.

beat it on marine, not as hard as everyone says, you just need to use the sniper and shotty really well, 1 hit kill on everything.

the pred fight is really easy, just snipe him untill he jumps down then nade him then follow him to where he heals, then just snipe him again, if all shots are head shots he will die on the first round

*Final Marine Level Guide* *SPOILERS*

First run and turn on the turret. Goto the right and pickup the smart gun and then collect the ammo from the middle (leave the one on the left), switch to pistol to run faster and run back to the little stairs and stand at the top.

Wait until the aliens are half way between the turret and you to shoot to save ammo and kill quickly, watch out for the few that come from the left and right.

After the whole first wave is dead switch to pistol, sprint, and collect the last ammo on the left. Run back to the elevator and stand behind the barrier on the right of the left elevator (left side of right elevator if you're looking out to the bridge). Most of the time the Praetorians get stuck and the turret will just kill them, this is where you can help out with the pistol if you want hah. Alternatively you can stand just infront of the elevators and smart gun them to death.

After the cutscene 180 and jump down and collect more smart gun ammo in the centre circle. Try to get close before shooting to save ammo. Enemies will then come from the left, then the right and then straight ahead. If you run out of smart gun sprint to the middle and collect the pulse riffle and grenades. Grenade them once and just spray their legs on the floor keeping an eye on the motion detector.

After the 4 pairs of enemies collect the sniper from the left and get a shotgun.

As you go through the doors to Weyland you'll notice a little alcove on the left and right. Snipe Weyland until he starts getting close (probably only 2-4 shots) and then hide in the right alcove. When he gets really close (roughly 8m on the radar), strafe out and L Trigger shotty him. Circle behind him while continuing shooting him. There's a good chance you'll need to reload but you should be behind him and near the exit by this time so hide around the corner and reload. Use the motion sensor again to judge when to strafe out and double shotty him again. He should be dead after 2 shots at most.

Actually, the Predator Campaign is by far the easiest on nightmare, and takes only 30 minutes. The only KIND OF difficult part is the Hybrid at the end. Besides that, I never died, except once and that was on the very last level. Same goes for Alien, only died once on Nightmare difficulty on Jungle . . . when the STUPID civilian commits suicide. Took me down with him.

Just beat Alien and Predator on Nightmare with no Problems at all :D Now ive done the Jungle and Colony levels for the Marines on Nightmare but the rest are giving me some trouble :S Goin through the Research Lab level now , Wish me luck ! :D

Predator was actually a breeze on nightmare.. Marine is obviously the hardest one with the most challenge.

Just keep at it. The Shotgun works wonders, just be carefull up close, acid from the aliens might insta kill you :)

I'd say when you fight the Matriarch Let the Facehuggers come at you. and If that don't work Shoot an Alien's leg off and get another one to the one with no leg (Which can be done whilst fighting Matriarch also) P.S. Use The Alt fire! ^^

I finally made it through the Marines last night on Nightmare. Holy freakin crap. The hardest level by far for me was the second last as it was so long. I think most people will find its not actually "Hard" but more luck. The biggest killer for me was Acid splash, second was in-oppertune reloads with sniper rifle.

Just finished Predator on Nightmare, with no problem except for the Predalien at the end, died only once. All I have left is Marine which I don't think should be all that hard if you know how to counter really well.

Have done it on night mare for Predators and aliens, and personally aliens by far is the easiest. Yes there was a few challenging parts, but not as bad as it could be. Luck does play a part but i think as a few people mentioned earlier skill really shines here! Way more then a bit of luck. Now i am on the marines on nightmare. And this by far is the hardest for me, it really is unforgiving.

Just did the last level of the Marine Campaign on Nightmare. Once you crack the 'formula' its pretty easy to get through to Bishop and bring him down. My problem was the head shot at the end. Failed twice, before third time luck. :p

Anyway, still got all the other Marine missions to do. Jumped straight to the last level. Gonna do the 5th (Research Lab) and 2nd (Refinery) now, get them out the way for now.

EDIT: Done 1,5, and 6 now! yipee!

Predator an Alien campaign is actually easy cause their speed lets them bypass battles you don't need to do to progress in the level. I did preds in 1 shot straight with no deaths. Only hard part for me as Alien was Gateway cause it's so long. That smartgunner was gettin' be until I found a way around. Marine's is tough but mainly level 1 and 2. After that it's not so bad.

i fleed back to where i found the marines and ran around in circles, to me backing off always is win even in circles, most times u dodge them without noticing. least i did, i found problems in more confined spaces where i couldnt get away quickly, their melee isnt so bad just their acid spit and cornering u. i never really used the smartgun cause its a sluggish wep once they get close hard to get away.

The easiest way to beat the final boss on the Predators campaign is get lucky and spam Mines and the Plasma Caster. I did it in a couple tries because I kept falling into the lava :mad:. But yeah.

I'm having trouble with Refinery. (all I need is Refinery and Jungle!! DX I started with Ruins because it was the hardest for me. "cept that Predator. He falls like a bitch.) Anyways, but Refinery is being a bitch. Its too long! Too much backtracking and theres too many hordes! Gaah! And its at that point, you know, when you haven't been playing for too long, but just enough that you just want the shit to end. I can't even make it to the Queen yet! Man, but I completed the last level in one go which made me smile. :) But anyways, Stupid hacking thing... Also, uhm, a tip I got from playing on hard mode. You can just grenade the canisters to save a little time when fighting the boss in Refinery.

Yeah, the marines campaign is way too hard. I beat the Alien's Campaign yesterday. That final boss was way easier than I thought it would be. getting to him was the problem... Stupid Android that can live through two Heavy attacks and a grab! :uzi:Whatever, I got it done! Haha, I just spammed Heavy attacks on the Preds! Still stuck on Refinery so far (haven't tried it again recently. Damn face huggers man! They're way too fast!!)

It is a nightmare on Marine, the other two are pretty simple. levels 2 and 5 are hardest for me and only one to go. damn the research lab, its so long only to die on the last enemy, a few times. and level 2 is such a pain as you have to rely on your pistol so much. I can not wait until this is over and I can move online with this grizzled skills.

Marine campaign is a piece of cake with the sniper and shotgun! just dont use shotgun when alien is looking at you a couple of cm away other wise there goo kills you. Did it first time 1 death in 2 hours.

PS: I use pulse rifle and sniper (tried once with shotgun but it kills me while i'm reloading, and that happens a lot, since it takes -2 bullets per shot)

praetorian is quite easy. trigger the appearance. use pulse rifle to kill the normal ones and unload all grenades into the praetorian. then once you are out, retreat to avoid getting hit by the charge attack, switch to shotgun and get close as you are brave enough and use double shots with :ltbut: to kill it. if this is not enough, either switch to pulse again or run out to the platform, as there are more grenades for the pulse.

concerning killing the pred alien in the pred campaign...does anyone actually read the guide? there is vid how to kill this annoying pest easily...

Trying to complete my Marine run through at the Mo, completed the last level 1st but it's not really that difficult with the smart gun and the turret helping you against the aliens and against the androids I just camped behind cover and waited for them to rush me then blew thier legs from under them, I was well twigging against Bishop but managed it and Ive just completed the 1st level, so far the 2nd level is a pain though

Finished all the single-player Achievements for the game now. Marine on Nightmare took me a couple of days, I did both Alien and Predator campaigns on Hard and Nightmare in one day (4 playthroughs) so should let you know how easy the other two are in comparison.

The first marine mission isn't too hard, except escaping C-Block at the end. The refinery took a while for me to beat. Jungle is really easy, as is ruins. Research Lab isn't too bad if you go slow and know how to kill the Praetorian at the end. Everything up to Bishop on Pyramid is a piece of cake. He is one mean bastard!

Basically I completed Alien and Predator on Hard AND Nightmare in one day. Marine on Nightmare took me several days to finish.

I couldn't beat that part for a while on Normal. Just keep blocking/counter and use the light attack, don't bother using the heavy as it is too slow.

nightmare is NOT hard. just know what you're doing and how to combat each enemy. people are giving nightmare too much credit on difficulty. yeah some parts are hard, or the game wouldn't be challenging. but if youve got any experience with fps, dont sweat it

Beat Alien on Nightmare yesterday, died like 3 times, all on the same part, on like the 4th lvl, cause I was impatient. Beat Predator on nightmare today, died only once on the last lvl, accidently fell in the lava immediately. Predator was easier, but took longer cause you had to be more patient. But in both, there was quite a few parts where I ran past enemies.

BUT now this 2nd mission is driving me nuts.. i have died, died, died, died, died, died and died again!!!! over and over again!!!!

To Tell you the truth... i love it!! i love a good challenge! This game s gotta keep me busy for a little while i think :) love this game! :)

i have passed marine nightmare campaign!!! the most trouble i had was the 2nd level and the level research lab with the big ass alien in it! i passed the final level 3rd go, i just used the smart gun at the beginning and took out all the aliens and the big ones as well, then use grenade rounds on the soldiers to knock them over and blast away on my shotgun, As for the final boss i just ran around the large statues just up the top of the stairs, he kept on just following me around and around and i was just blasting him with the shotgun, he was no trouble for me.

nightmare can be tough but basicly it is the same as hard without checkpoints. so try to learn the levels and pratice them on hard. Once you can run through it blindly reattempt the level in nightmare.
