New Feature: Awards

We just added a new feature to the forums: Awards.

We can now assign awards to users which will show every time a users post.
You can also click on the award to go to the award showcase where you'll find how many awards a user has gotten, when, and why.

Check out the test user below where we've given him the Full Auto award for winning a round in the tournaments.

If you press "Awards" from the menu on the top, you can see all available awards and people who got them.

If you win a tournament, you get the icon below your name, so like how award tester has full auto under his name that would be like he won the full auto tourney.

Ah, now I know what the problem is.
I did only apply it to the main skin just to see if it worked.
I have to do the same for the other skins, I see you use the black and gold.

Not sure which other awards we should have. Thinking about something with the leaderboards as well as the tournaments. :)

Another idea could be awards for games where they have all achievements.
(Hard games tho', or else everyone would have king kong, every sport game etc etc).

yeah everyone who donate should get an award and maybe certain amounts of money becomes a diffrent award(like 100 bucks for erton wile the others have under 100 dollar awards) maybe every 100 dollars is a diffrent award.

as time goes by people add more to what they donate so they can rank up and get mutiable awards.

and yeah maybe 10k-20k awards and so n for ever y 10k? achievement points

As for 1000/1000 achievement points witch games would get an award? some people find king kong harder then others(i sure as hell did) and some people suck at sports so that was a long time to get them.

I understand an award for call of duty 2 will be an easy one to agree on

We've given awards for the people ho has donated and will give more out soon. Check out the menu on the top and press "Awards" to see a list of all the awards and see who got them etc.

If we have an award pic for every touament, then people will have a ton of awards and they will be less meningfull. In time will git, where evereone has a ton of pics and that would not of don much to get that many. Yet, anouther person could win a lot of touaments and not have as many awards.

Well you have to understand, from being a long time Moderator at AF, I know the price it takes to run a site with 1 mill. + members. Forums that are nice cost money and the lease the members could do Is contribute. Even IF it is minor, everything helps...

I think awards are great ideas. We could hold a weekly tournament also, and make some awards temporary. Like, Current Halo 2 Champion, and other games.

Also, a Fight Night champion, and challenges occur on the forum. Whoever wins, takes the crown.

Which are difficult in that way. I got 1000 points on Kameo in 4 days, but some people are still trying to get them.

Submit 1 Unknown Achievement and Picture (Per Game) - The Bronze Award

Alright, I just wanted to point this out...

You may notice that people now have Halo 2 participation awards, and I bet many are wondering if every tournament will give out a participation award. As of now, I am leaning toward the no, since it may lead to too many awards being given out. However, this is the choice of the forum members and admins, and not me. So, I ask, should every tournament give out at least a participation award or only the top 3 placing teams?

Since we have only 3 Halo Teams, and since the only reason it did not take place was because of a problem reaching 2 of the members (I believe because of a internet loss problem), I gave awards to every person who showed up, and will be replacing them with the appropriate place number and award when the tournament takes place.

The achievement info ranking is a little harder, since some give out a couple of pics, and some give out complete lists etc.

First completing a game could also be interesting (but maybe not for the 2k sports games and other easy 2-3 hour games)

Actually, I think with enough active mods dealing with this, it's a good idea. It would promote people to make achievement guides, send in achievements, participate in tournaments (which would increase activeness). The referring award might be a little iffy, but maybe we could do it for at least 5 or 10 referred members before you get an award.

I have offered to help DaKing with all of this because I am very willing to do so and I believe it's a great asset to this site. And I have no life :p

Actually, it would be very easy to run. The only part I need a hand with is Tournaments, because I want to make a way for games to be played, without having to give specific times. It is very hard with time zones, so I am still thinking of the best way.

Referring members wouldn't be a great idea either, so I scratched that.

However, Guides and Achievement Posters (people who send in what we do not know) is easy and something I do want to do. Everything goes to Routine when it is put on the HomePage, and to keep track of how many a person sent in would not be difficult.

Any other suggestions and comments are welcomed.

Walkthroughs..? Awards for other things (Achievements Guides, Achievement Details, First to complete a game....)

IMO, referals are a bad idea and the orignal member one is good, but instead of having everyone get it, we make a thread and everyone who posts that they were an original memebr gets it therefore making them a REAL active member not some random joe of the street.

Ok it may be sexist but even you have to admit that this is a guys world, and well there aren't that many women who are hardcore gamers like myself I hardly see women on the xbox at least competitive ones. And lets face it guys, you can be pretty brutal (not all but more than a few ) when it comes to putting on the charm, with all the come ons, and not to mention thinking that women are not as good as men, when that is just not true. So we have to put up with the same stuff you guys have to, then add the woman factor and well there ya go makes it more of a challenge to play at times, but then I am tough chick it takes alot to rock my boat lol But seriously was only having a bit of fun with a slight suggestion :) is all
