Does x360a plan to have vista achievement lists? Once live anywhere comes out, I guarantee way more people will come to get those vista achievements!

What I want to know is if the achievements carry over (i.e. Vista achievements count towards my Xbox achievements).

Yes they are so say you played Shadow Run on the pc and the 360 then you would only gain 1000 GS for it not 2000 GS becuase they are both linked :) this is something i found out at CES :)

Basically, Vista is going to have its own XBOX live called "LiveAnywhere". It is gonna cost them $49.99 a year just like us. The cool thing is if you pay for XBL, then you can go and play on Vista for Free..or vica verse. There will be achievements on Vista games. Not all of them, But I believe all the Games for Windows games will support achievements. I'm not 100% sure but i do think they might be changing XBOX Live to be called LiveAnywhere.....Basically you will have a universal friends list/gamercard for both 360/Vista....They are even gonna start having Windows games on your moblie phone with achievements. All linked to one universal gamercard. So take a game like Uno,already came out on the 360,when it comes out on Vista it will have the same achievements as the 360 one did....You cannot reearn these achievements. Say you play Shadowrun and you get 12 achievements on the PC, then you play it on your 360, those 12 achievements will already be unlocked on the 360 and you can just try to unlock the others..Now some games may have double achievements much like our Enchanted Arms and Everyparty but only time will tell on that one. I do also know Halo2 for Vista will support achievements and with the XBOX 360 being so compatible with Vista, you will be able to use your wireless controller to play Halo 2 on the PC. This might help all those who have trouble with keyboard and Mouse FPS's. I know alot of the new "Liveanywhere", so if you have anymore questions....let me know

That is what they should have done with games of different regions (ex: Enchanted Arms, N3).

I also think they should have a different points system for the Vista and not combine them with the Xbox 360's. They are so different in how they are played (controller vs keyboard/mouse for one) and make it harder to compare with others due to the differences. Not only that, but PC's will be so much easier to mod a game and alter it and will make the cheating much worse than it already is.

Talk about integration, this almost seems too good to be true. Is there an actual article that someone has seen about this and could post it here?

The modding is what scares the crap out of me. Exotic is 100% correct that's it's a unified service. Once it goes live you will open up you friend's list and see a new column with a mini graphic icon of either a pc or a 360 depending on where your friends are playing.

Personally I was super stoked about this when I saw it at E3 last year or the year before. I love sneaking gaming in at work, but unfortunately all the 100s of hours of pogo games aren't helping my gamerscore ;) Not surprisingly though, I am a badge addict (those that visit the site know what I mean).

Done correctly the same games should not have double points. This is all hearsay but I will pass it on, but take it with a grain of salt. Apparently there are two unique identifiers for a 360 game, the titles and some hidden numerical value (say game id #). Properly done you can localize and have various names/languages for games as long as this game id is the same it will only show up on your card once. People point out EM and probably half a dozen other games you can earn double points on (Everyparty, Bulletwitch, etc) but the vast majority of games you cannot. It's always the Jap -> US direction that causes problems, to the best of my knowledge the only game that gives double points US -> Jap direction is MotoGP and that game actually has a different title, MotoGP Far East, so I suspect they gave it a different game id #.

What really confuses me everytime I think I have some understanding of how this works is that it seems the MS can't even get it right. Everyparty has two version, but N3 does not. I have the Jap version of N3 (actually asian) and loved it, but there is no difference between that game and the US release. So maybe someone just screwed up on Everyparty. If you've played the game you will agree they screwed up on way more than just the unique game id ;)

Then just recently something really confusing happened. I've been playing Earth Defense Force 3. It shows up on my tag when I use my guide button and anytime I'm browsing the 360 desktop in Japanese. But whenever anyone else looks at it on their 360 it's in English. If I check my xbox.com profile, it's in English. Go back to the game and it's Japanese. /shrug Personally I think this is how it's supposed to work when done correctly, showing the achievements in the viewers default language.

In the end, I think it's safe to assume that similar problems will happen with Vista and some developers will screw it up and have double points.

Webb, might want to start reserving some other domain names to link to the site

I do not like the intergration and agree with crash, this will totally change chievement and split his site into pieces for phone and vista as well.

Come on guys give it a chance it'll prolly be pretty awesome, getting achievements on your mobile in the beer garden or on a notebook in the car.

So long as microsoft keep a lid on cheating and enforce it with a BAN or DEATH i think it'll be good.

The Zune is going to be included in the Live Anywhere also, right? So when games are supported (2008 I heard), then achievements can be earned on your Zune also, if I'm not mistaken..

This would seem to fall in line with their Live Anywhere way of thinking...I am glad I waited and didn't get an iPod...

The only games I've seen running on Widows Moblie Devices so far are Bejeweled 2 and Zuma (both of which are already on the XBL Arcade). Now I'm sure that there will be a bunch more, but like I said earlier not all games will have achievements. Only the games with the Games for Windows Branding will have achievements from what I've seen and read. I'm sure the Zune with fail into the moblie device area and since it has a marketplace, you use Microsoft points and have a Gamertag on there as well, the games will have achievements also...

I think some will be but there will be some games with achievements for vista and not 360 such as halo 2 as exotic said and cleared up pretty well.

If you were playing halo 2 on the PC but weren't connected to the internet would you still be able to unlock the achievements?

Adam Miller

Yes but they wouldnt show on your live profile until you connected to live somewhere else.

Probably not, but it's their decision. To answer someone's question, not all games for windows will be on 360, and it will only be games for windows vista, not stuff like Supreme Commander.

Personally, I don't think this is good news at all and I'm not happy about it.

If Vista wants to have achievements, it should do it on an entirely different server/system, that has no relation to Xbox 360 and shouldn't affect your 360 gamerscore. Mobile phone achievements, are you f'n kidding me?! That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Who the hell plays mobile phone games anyway?

The point of my rant is that one of the main reasons that Xbox 360 is so good is because of the exclusiveness of the achievement system, if it continues to branhc out it's just going to be ridiculous. Microsoft doesn't care about it's loyal 360 gamers, they just want to widen the range so they can get their grubby hands on some more filthy cash.
