PS2 Outsells PS3 in January

A little late, but I just found this article that the PS2 outsold the PS3 by 56k units in January. Wii won the war handily, and even the 360 was edged out by the PS2.

Sure, Microsoft can happily pound its chest and announce far and wide that they've outsold PlayStation 3 yet again (as they did this morning), but the most important factoid that came out of January's sales numbers are that Nintendo pounced them both. A Seattle Post-Intelligencer article published this morning contains more NPD Group numbers for last month, which outlined Wii's dominance:Nintendo Wii: 436,000 units
Microsoft Xbox 360: 294,000 units
Sony PlayStation 3: 244,000 units It's also worth noting that PlayStation 2 sold 300,000 units in the same time frame, effectively beating out Sony's own successor and Microsoft's next-generation offering. God of War 2 will have a solid audience when it's released next month, it seems.

I think it has to do with socom lol I know guys on there that have up to 20 PS2's and I know the top 60 players are all rankin up so thats about 16 PS2's for 60 people, thats like 960 PS2's right there

Guitar hero 2 will be out on the 360. There is no point getting one for 2 games(in my opinion). The ps2 had some amazing games but they all seem old and pointless. Im not suprised it outsold the ps3 and 360. They are only £80 and brake every 2 to 3 years.

i couldnt imagine buying a BRAND NEW ps2 right now..

that just seems idiotic with the lack of Dolby Digital, High Def, REAL online, no wireless, no harddrive (support).. ect ect...

for 150 or whatever they are selling it for, i would get myself a SNES and some old school games, or a DS

nobody does want a PS3, i see them sitting out on teh shelves at the local GS all the time, a lot of places are trying to raise the prices too hopeing to make some more money, its not going to happen though and Sony is going to have to drop the prices

For 130$ its not that bad to buy a new PS2. I am sure at my local Play N Trade I could find a used system for 100$.

I dont know what you guys are talking about the PS3 in BEAST and people want them but cant afford them. The only reason my 360 is still used is because rainbow six isnt out for PS3 yet.

im really thinkin bout gettin a Wii but just for those sweet old school 64 games..why did i trade it in for credit such an idiot lol....but besides that PS3 lost all its hype and all those juicy exclusives it was going to get are comming to our side with the bonus of achievements
