So I bought this game for $6 but I have been lazy and haven't watched any version of King Kong(the original, 1976 or Peter Jackson versions) so I basically have no idea what the story is of the movies.
Will playing this game spoil the movie? If so then I would at least watch Peter Jackson's version before I started playing this game
I didn't bother watching the new film because it looked kind of crap, so I don't know how much of the story is copied into the game and how much is 'exclusive'.
Seeing as it is an 'Official game of the remake of the remake of the original film entitled...' game then I'd guess most of it follows the story anyway. Just watch the film first if you are worried, but keep some tissues handy for the ending. Poor Kong.

The game follows about as closely as it can. It involves a lot of the scenes in the movie but there's an immense amount of stuff left out. Much of the movie wasn't something you'd enjoy playing through in a video game. I don't even remember what I did last in the game but we all know what happens to Kong. The game also adds plenty of things not experienced in the movie. It doesn't do so that much in terms of new creatures as much as just more exploration so you can get a game's-length of killing out of it.

Seeing Godzilla was sadder...
You'll be wanting the game to end, it's terrible but it's worth the 1k.

It does spoil some of the plot, so I would watch the film first. I liked them both, but I didn't think either one was spectacular.

I could not agree with you more, apart from the game which i thought was tedious.

I thought it did a very good job at not spoiling parts but keeping it along the same line. Didn't really think King Kong could be spoiled though.

The movie was mainly focused on just slashing your way out, but there are occasional movie clips and the game does try to focus on the story, but def watch the movie before or after, doesn't matter.

The game barely resembles the film and the film wasn't even all that good as it forced its audience to look at the jeweyest (not a real word but he couldnt be any more of a jew) man ever.

I started the game, got interested in the story and then popped in the movie. The movie was pretty good (cmon guys it's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be). So from there I went back and played the game some more. It showcases some of the same kinda battle scenes between Kong and the Rexes and the creatures, except the movie was a hell of a lot more dramatic than this game. This game is just a pain in the butt on some levels.

I would suggest just playing the game and taking away what you can from the story, as I didn't care much for the Peter Jackson version. A bit too long-winded, although I enjoyed the first 1/3 of the movie..

The film is less than one half action, and alot of sappy drama. It wasn't bad and if you can muster about 3 hours to watch it you should.
I've definitely heard the game will show alot of the movie action scenes so it would definitely change your viewing experience.

It gave away the end. I had no idea Kong died and I was like "what?? Does he die in the movie too!?!?" So that was sad.

Uh...
The movie was great but I played the game on regular xbox and well, the game sort of follows the movie. In the game you do alot of unneeded stupid stuff to get to the movie points. Watch the movie first, it will help not be as bored in the game.
