Stuck at the codexpages

Lucy tells me I have to find the codexpages which are on the map showed as a page icon. When I get there, I beat the guards whom are defending it, and when I get in I see a glowing piece. But I can't pick it up or open it or something.
How does this work?

It's funny on my first 2 attempts to get codex pages hidden behind guards, I just ran full speed right between them and made it inside the building without getting caught. The guards would look at me at the doorway as I was looting the codex page and they would not chase me, and give up after a few seconds.

When will the game let me see Da Vinci? I grabbed a codex page, but couldn't get in to see him to get the page decrypted.

just keep playing, its story related, so you'll see him at some point. not possible to miss as he plays a pretty major role in the game.
