You need to keep enough distance between you and him that you have at the very start.

I can sense your frustration and it took me a "few" tries to figure it out. Here's the deal on these showdown events.

Realize that you will have to do each one several times, but you will get past them.

At the start do not move. Just let him shuffle from side to side and eventually he will come back close to center. You may have to shuffle once the the left or right to maintain proper orientation with him. Notice that the bell rings at about the same time on each showdown. You will get a feel for when the bell is about to ring. This is key for the last part of the strategy. Make sure your thumb is just touching Ray's cartridge belt when the bell goes off. You manually have to use your thumbstick to keep his hand in this position. If his hand is there, you can do a quick draw when the bell rings. If your opponent is positioned in front of you, the cursor will turn red and you can shoot him in the nuts for the kill.

I say you will have to do these several times because it's not always certain that your opponent will always return to the original starting position plus or minus one shuffle. Eventually he will with a few retries.

Back off the f-bombs and turn the anger knob down a few notches. These events are very do-able with a little practice.

Good luck.

All you have to do is keep your enemy to the right of your and keep a good distance and just be ready to shoot. If you are having trouble with stand-offs on easy wait until you get to Very Hard.

i liked these, it was unique to the game, just keep your hand close to the gun and mimic every move he does.

see, I did the same thing I do when I lose aswell as I do when I win. So it's REALLY hard to see the wrong in what your doing when you lose and the right when you win. It feels like the game is just saying "Nope, not this time bucko!"

What is the "real" trick to doing these? I read this post and thought I was doing it correctly but now I've been stuck on the showdown right after you gather the 3 horses for about an hour now.

I stand still and let him go back and forth and then by the right time I am lined up, I draw, then the site goes red at his chest and then at his head. This time it keeps going up and then down a little before I finally get shot.

Am I supposed to click the trigger again when the site goes red or something? I sit there and spam my trigger while the site goes up and down but I must not be getting the timing right.

I figured it out. You just use the right stick to draw and then press the trigger when the site is on them.

I'm having the same problems, it just won't draw my weapon at all, the bell rings and i die!

These were really simple in the first game, whats the crack??

ps. This game could have been WAY better

This really does suck big fat sweaty balls!!

Sometimes he won't even draw his weapon!!
When you strafe, you end up turning away from the battle!!
When you actually draw your fucking weapon, you get shot before the cursor gets anywhere near the target!!

My god, this game is extremely frustrating and the gameplay mechanics are shocking - At least the first game was playable. This Stand off shit is actually pissing me off more than the 'Mile high club' did and more than Ep4m2 on Doom did which i have both completed.

They're aren't many games what i don't complete but i have a feeling this will be one of em

This is good advice. On Very Hard your opponent rarely comes back to center. To make sure you have a straight-up draw circle with your opponent, and keep your hand close to your pistol.

lol i thought they were stupid to begin with but honestly, as people have said, once you figure them out, they aren't that bad. Actually pretty cool once you kill someone you HATE lol

Thanks for the sage wisdom am trying but I'm still having a hell of a time on the first one in Mexico (2nd duel in the game?). Driving me nuts. I'm playing on Medium and it's almost as though I'm dying the moment the bell rings...ugh.

I gotta say the concept is neat, but it does indeed truly suck.

Just make sure you keep the opponent in the center of the screen, and your hand stays as close as possible to the gun so when the bell rings you can quickly move it over. What i found useful was letting it play out, and counting the number of times your opponent moves before the bell goes. Each has a different number, but it'll always be that amount no matter what difficulty.

Yah, I've beaten the game now and it does get easier as you go.

It took me forever to go through those first couple duels but by the time I got to Barnsby at the end I was getting them within the first few tries mush easier.

LOL!! Still don't really like this part though!
