Ok guys so currently my PC is playing up loads, keep getting "system failed cpu test" voice come up at random intervals.

Currently have 1gb corsair DDR400 ram, amd sempron 2800+ and a Asus a7n deluxe motherboard.

Basically I am taking this opportunity to upgrade my system, i.e. a new motherboard and processer.

Got a quote on ebuyer.com for some new gear.

1 x Gigabyte (GH-ED821-MF) NeonCooler 8-Pro £6.18
1 x AMD Athlon 64 3700+ Socket 939 San Diego OEM Processor £39.01
1 x ECS KV2 Lite Socket 939 AGP LAN 6 channel audio ATX £25.52

Carriage £0.00
Subtotal £70.71
VAT £12.39
Order Total £83.10

So first question.

Is this a good deal.

Secondly if i buy this and take out my motherboard and processer and replace them, do I have to fart arse about with reinstalling windows or can I just plug in all my hard drives and other components to the motherboard and go about as normal?

Cheers

Looks like an OK deal but I'm out of touch on PC costs since I only run on a laptop now, so someone else might know more, although just shop around is a good way to see if its a good deal.

***I havent looked to check the parts all work together, so thats up to you***

However, I don't really see the need to upgrade your PC from the specs you gave unless you game a lot on it and are experiencing problems with that. The voice you are saying coming up puzzles me, because no software I know can check the CPU in windows and certainly not as a background task causing a message to come up.

Best guess it sounds like spyware or something similar causing the issue you are describing.

If you do go ahead (and I bet the "issue" isn't resolved) then you might or might not need to reinstall, some people get away with plug and play even on a new motherboard, others dont. I prefer a clean install anyway because of preventing driver issues as well.

The problem is some sort of bios problem apparantly and I really cannot be arsed with messing about with the bios.
