What ideas have you got for "L4D3" special infected. There probably wont be a L4D3 but who knows. Anyway, I try to go for names ending with "er" seeing as most of the special infected are (excluding the Jockey, Tank and witch) Please put your ideas and possibly a picture (from paint or whatever)

MY IDEAS:

Name - Burner
Attack - A burning Mutant that can leave a temporary trail of fire where it runs.
In Versus? - Yes
RT - Run (Only in staight lines)
LT - Melee
Looks - Long legs with no feet, Big Eye Pupils. One arm. Stick Thin. Pale Red Skin covered in small spots bursting into small flames.

Name - Crawler
Attack - Grabs Survivors legs, pulls them over and immediately incaps them. Good for when the other 3 survivors are incapped.
In Versus? - Yes
RT - Grab
LT - Speed Crawl
Looks - Ripped off Legs, Hard to spot, Pale grey skin.

Name - Predator
Attack - Similar to the witch but instead of chasing you when disturbed, it goes for you when it sees you. It only sees you when you are moving (or using any other item). It walks around the map slowly usually in the same room and turns round to gun sounds. When it sees someone it leaps at them and start ripping them up like the witch would. Tactics to kill the Predator would be to headshot it with the shotgun up close but this would require skill because there are nanoseconds between the time it sees you move and the time it leaps.
In Versus - No
Looks - Skirt, hood, grey hair, glasses, long legs for leaping, sharp claws, looks like an mutated old lady. Has a green eerie glow.

Fun idea, but I'm still wrapping my mind around L4D2, which isn't even out yet (And the demo out gave us a LITTLE taste).

I don't want to think about L4D3 yet. I don't want to think about it for a long time. hahahaha.

I'd like to see a BOSS boss infected. Like a giant worm or some shit at the end of any campaign.

Another cool idea would be to think about uncommon-common infected.

This will be the set up if anyone wants to take a shot at it, just copy and paste this.

Level (theme) -
Looks -
Powers -

Here's an example, you can make up levels, or use existing ones.

Level (theme) - Snow/arctic
Looks - Icy, blueish-pale skin
Powers - Frozen ice "armor", blends into the ice/snow so it's hard to see.

Nice Idea :)

Level (theme) - Airport (Boom Port)
Looks - Terrorist
Powers - If shot, blows up like a propane tank.

Level (theme) - Beach (Blood Beach)
Looks - Only see arms which poke out of the sand.
Powers - It grabs you and starts pulling you and you go into incap mode and if you get killed, you get pulled into the sand.

Level (theme) - Road (The Street)
Looks - Police Uniform
Powers - Has a Beating Stick so doubles strength

Level (theme) - Lab (Terror Factory)
Looks - Scientist
Powers - After Death, Creates a blue substance that does the same as the spitter.

MAPS

Boom Port - The difference between this and Dead Air is that you start just outside the airport and make your way around within a 5 chapter campaign

1 - The Entrance - getting into the enterance. You start in a random house (there will be 4 possible houses you start in)

2 - The Lobby - A huge room with lots of check in desks. The Cresendo is the alarm and you have to get into the security room to turn it off.

3 - The Sitting Room - A long corridor with many chairs. The cresendo is blowing up a wall to get outside.

4 - The Airfield - Crossing the Infected covered Airfield isn't easy. Cresendo is lowering an alarmed ladder to get up to the walkway.

5 - Plane Finale - Inside the Plane, Fuel up the plane by filling up the gas tank. Its noisy though so watch out due to the infected crawling through the windows. Like scavenge mode.

Blood Beach - This long Beach is home to many board walks and resorts. And infected. You get through this in a 4 chapter campaign. After the aeroplane crashes on this beach is how this campaign starts.

1 - The Sea - Starting in the destroyed aeroplane, you have to make your way across the beach, but avoid the sea as the military quarantined it off to the rest and toxicated it. Watch out for tide changes.

2 - The Resort - Get through the seaside resort park. Search caravans for supplies. Cresendo is making a caravan break through the wall of the resort to get out.

3 - Boardwalk - Go along the boardwalk that over looks the beach. Beware for cracks in the boardwalk or you'll have to go all the way back and get up again. Cresendo is lowering a boardwalk bridge.

4 - Pier Finale - At the end of the pier, hold out for the rescue helicopter.

The Street - This long street is home to hundreds of people, so home to hundreds of zombies. After the helicopter lands on tje burning No Mercy Hostpital, get down via the elevator and along the street on this 4 part campaign.

1 - No Mercy - The difference is that many things have burned and it doesnt look the same. Cresendo is the Elevator Crash. Wait 1 minute until is goes again.

2 - The Truck - When on the street, remember following official instructions :P . Cresendo is the blow up the truck.

3 - The Bombing - The Military just doesnt know when to stop. Cresensdo bombs the street, watch out for the bombs. Cresendo is the bombs.

4 - Bridge Finale - On this long bridge is a working car. Find all the gas cans on this bridge to fuel it. Infected come during it. Another Scavenge Finale.

Great work though, I love the idea of the terrorist and scientist!

Level (theme) - Old Peoples Home
Looks - Wheelchair
Powers - A bit like the charger mixed with the jockey, you pick them up and run off with them, doing a small amount of damage as you drive around with the said survivor on your lap

(thought of this whilst in another thread, then saw this thread and thought; how fitting)

More special infected would cause my head to explode. Too many tactical options with L4D2's SI. Something strong to sit alongside a tank would be cool.

I think that a little kid infected would be cool, whilst trying to not rip off FEAR. Maybe a little boy with a teddy, would add a little freak out factor. Maybe even have him whisper things, it'd scare me haha.

Your right, I mean like not incap but when like you get downed but not in incap mode - Charger/Hunter/Smoker/Jockey kind of thing (Constricted, Pounced, Ridden and pummeled)

Name - Child
Attack - Like the witch again, but this time a dissapearing little child with a blood covered Teddy that dissapears and reappears around corners or in rooms along your journey. If you get to close He attacks you until you die (or he dies)
In Versus? - No
Looks - A little boy about 5 years old with a teddy. You will hear his distinctive cry "Mummy" when near. When you get too close you can hear heavy breathing. When attacked you can hear an evil laughter.

Dude! That's actually the best and creepiest idea in this thread. I've always said that they need children zombies in Resident Evil and Left 4 Dead. If Valve made a special infected that was adolescent, that would be fantastic!

The child infected would be cool and creepy. You had alot of good ideas Mythic.

I always thought it would be cool with a flying infected. The sky is too empty and getting the player to look up instead of just looking forward would be a nice distraction.

Name - Not good with names...
Attack - Grabs a survivor and pulls him slowly up to the sky.
In Versus? - Yes
RT - Grab
LT - Dive, Fly fast
Looks - Wings (duh...) and blood dripping down from him/her so its easier to spot them.

Feel free to poke holes into this idea.

What about a bit of a comedy zombie - and no not some comedian zombie that starts telling jokes.

This is instead of the Terrorist Uncommon Common I mentioned in a previous post.

Name - Kamikaze
Attack - This zombie is a mix between the boomer and charger. It will run at you the speed of the charger but more signs to tell you that it's running, when it hits a solid surface it will blow up with explosion size of propane tank and harm anything within the explosion (ANYTHING!(apart from witch))
In Versus - Yup
RT - Run
LT - Melee
Looks - Terrorist, long legs, red eyes,
Sounds - Ticking, Hissing,

Imagine seeing one run into a wall and band. That would lighten the mood. You would need to lighten the mood seeing as your in a zombie infested city with special infecteds that can kill you easily and that there is no way out and it is hard to survive.....

Especially on Expert............... :)

What I do is put a bunch of actions that your infected does and put er at the end.

Flyer
Grabber
Gripper
Diver
Puller
Dripper

.... :)

And as for RT and LT, This is being fussy but usually LT would be melee with any infected.

RT - Dive (Grabs when Dives into someone)
LT - Melee
Rb - Fly Up
Lb - Fly Down

Maybe instead of dragging the survivor all the way into the sky for no end. Maybe the challenge could be that only a hunting rifle, sniper rifle whatever can hit the Diver ( :) ) so this stops people from only collecting shotty shotguns and machiney machine guns :P

As for the Looks. The Blood dripping down would be good but would be too small to notice. Perhaps it has long brown wings with a male spitter kind of body, with a built up mouth obviously but same eyes. The legs could be kind of like the stalker legs from hl2 and that could be what grabs the survivor.

Hope this helps :)

Didn't mean that it would pull the player all the way up to the sky and just keep pulling him. That would just be a waste of time for the both of them. I thought it would drop the player when he would die from the fall so it doesnt go on and on.

And the point of the dripping blood was so the players would notice the blood dripping on the ground so its a little easier to spot them. Making it a little easier for the newbies :P.

The Kamikaze sounds hillarious. Helpfull and dangerous

Gazer
Highlights survivors posititons, immeadiately alerting any witches close to them.
RT-Highlight
LT-Scratch
Appearance - Lanky, huge eyes and a hunched back

Stewie Griffin2

How about infected dogs as an uncommon common infected? Something like you see in I Am Legend or Nazi Zombies in WaW.

As far as special infected, don't like the idea of a flying one, it just doesn't really fit. The kid would be cool, but I doubt we'll ever see it because it'd be very controversial. But how about spitting a nice fat loogey in their faces?

Name: Hocker
Online: Yes
LT: Melee
RT: Spit
Abilities: Fast. Spits acidic mucus on survivors from long distances that temporarily blinds the survivor, similar to boomer bile. 15 second recharge between primary attacks.
Appearance: Old man in hospital gown. Makes a hocking sound when near survivors.

Im sorry im with the 'australian banning games commie' and we dont like you killing children, animals or authority figures. May I recommend a book? they are quite fun and also bloodless.

I might start drawing these when i get adobe illustrator if you want. Just to get an idea. Maybe one of you people are secretly working for Valve ;)

But serosly Tell me if you want me to do yours - including the names so I know which ones I can do and I will try my best.

You complain way too fucking much.

I like the amount of SI in the game, each has a purpose and a specific thing to do.

Fuck, I was hoping the kids wouldn't get a public demo because they'd leave their Halo 3 forums and rush over here to tell us that it's too hard.

I'm surprised no one thought of this earlier.

Opener (poor name choice)
Actually has the ability to open doors (even safe room doors)
RT - Sprint
LT - Barge (only works on Zombies)
X - Opens door
Appearance - Looks like a standard common infected, but walks normally and all-in-all looks smarter.

I really think in the next left 4 dead, instead of adding new stuff to the same type of game they should make it a lot scarier, more sinister. When the zombies are actually scary. L4D2 witches are like opera singers..

I just wish the Screamer was actually in the game, he sounds like a right fun zombie.

Name: Spotter
Class: Special Infected
Ability: Can emit intense light due to bioluminescence.
RT - Spotlight: Emit blinding light from mouth, in a straight line. Survivors in the light cannot look directly at it and will shield their eyes, and it summons a hoard at that location.
LT - Claw
Death: When it dies, it explodes in a flash of intense light similar to a flashbang. Any survivor in close proximity to the explosion will be stunned for a couple of seconds.

Appearance: Average height, skinny male that has dark, almost burnt like skin but its eyes are noticeably white, as in, survivors can see the eyes glowing a distance away.

Description: This infected will be a support infected like the boomer, but it can pick off straggling survivors by spotlighting them, and the survivor has to either get someone outside the cone of light to kill it, or go indoors so the light is blocked. When spotlighted, the survivor can still kill the oncoming hoard, its just that they can't end it until the spotter is killed.

Team Versus 2

Offence:
Jockey - (Scout)
Hunter - (Pryo)
Charger - (Soilder)

Defence:
Common - (Demoman)
Witch - (Engineer)
Tank - (Heavy)

Support:
Boomer - (Medic)
Spitter - (Sniper)
Uncommon Common - (Spy)

That would be pretty good if they made an 8v8 Infected V Infected Game like this (but without them being medics and heavys etc)

But your ideas acctually really good. I dont know if this is what you meant but did you mean if they look directly at the Spotter they start loosing health (which would be like the spitter just quite better)

No, I meant that if the survivor looks directly at the spotter while inside the spotlight, the screen goes pure white for a second and they start to recoil in third-person mode and become defenseless against oncoming zombies for a few seconds. The losing health idea sounds good as well though.

Flame Thrower (working on a better name):

Looks: Punk guy wearing skinny jeans and a retro baseball jersey with all the spiked bracelets and rattling chains (which could be an audio "tell" to his presence) associated with such people. He is awkwardly tall and skinny, with the exception of his chest and neck, which resemble that of a boomer. Pustiles abound.

Lt: "Boomer vomits" a highly flamable substance that blinds the survivors it covers. The goo will not ignite until the survivor fires his weapon, has contact with an open flame, or is attacked by a burning infected(ie, burning hunter pounce). Flame Thrower can vomit through a fire for instant damage, but the goo will not blind or stick nearly as long.

Rt: Standard melee.

Specialty: When killed, he explodes in a similar fashion to that of a boomer for the same effect but his blast radius is much smaller. Also, he is incredibly weak to fire attacks, which will ignite the goo as he explodes.
____
Spider:

Looks: Thin, twisted torso, long neck, Spitter-like mouth, extremely long legs and arms, and very large claws.

Lt: Spits a sticky mass that slows down the survivor it hits. Three consecutive spit-hits will completely immobilize the survivor. To free him, the survivors must shoot/ melee the trapped survivor. Also, any SI that can "hold" a survivor will free him from the web, but he is still "held" by said SI.

Rt: Power melee attack.

Specialty: Can climb any surface and spit attack from it. Can also "hunter pounce" to no effect other than moving quickly.
____
Bat:

Looks: Female, hunched stature, long forearms that split to form wings, short tail, bat-like ears, dog-like face, and large talons.

Lt: "Hunter pounces" into a glide. While gliding, she can grab ahold of a survivor to where ever she pleases. The survivor in-tow will grab the bat's legs to prevent her from dropping them to their death. With the survivor's free hand, they can use their pistol. If the survivor shoots the bat to death, he will fall from whatever height they were for damage. When the bats lands, she will damage the survivor, but not "hold" them.

Rt: Slow, but slightly more powerful melee attack.

Specialty: Other than the gift of flight!? Nothing much...
