My personal guide to the Sampler Achievement

Forgot to put plate in the title...My personal guide to the sampler plate achievement, try and make it the last achievement in your 1000 quest if you are having troubles.

THIS METHOD WILL RESULT YOU IN A LOSS IN SAVE DATA, SO DO ASS YOU WISH! IF YOUR FILE EVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH SAVING OR CORRUPTION WHETHER GAME DATA OR DLC SONG DATA, MORE THEN LIKELY YOU NEED TO RESTART AT THE BEGINNING OF THE GUIDE.

If all hope has failed you, try this. For best outcome, follow guide word for word and try to have tons of equipment! 4 of an instrument and all 4 types of instruments! May have possible flaw for those without instruments.

So at first, I played 175+ online games and never could get the achievement. I helped countless of people do it and had literally no success. So I almost gave up. So I decided I already beat the game, so I will just delete all my save files and start over and also clear my cache. If you have already got the achievements you wanted in your save file and only need the online ones, you may follow this guide step by step to get this achievement the way I did. You may not need to necessarily need to do it like me, but out of everything I have read for 5 days, this is the way I did it.

Step 1.) Go to dashboard and delete your save files on your hard drive. ( You may want to just copy it or move it to a memory card so you can still have the save file.)

NOTE: After much thought of this, some of this guide may not even matter, but I took these steps and I happened to get the achievement after 4 days. Clearing your saves might be the best way to go.)

Step 3.) Go into Guitar Hero 5 with your main account and play a song in career.

Step 4.) Move onto a song in Quick play.

Step 5.) Connect 4 controllers in that will allow 4 of the same instrument. (4 guitars, mics, or drums) Move into competitive gameplay.

Step 6.) What I did was set all instruments on guitar on expert with only one account signed in. I pressed start to go into competitive offline and it said that you can not save the game because the other players were not signed in.

Step 7.) Start with the top of the list and play straight down in this order of free for all game types.

Pro Face Off
Momentum
Streakers
Do or Die
Perfectionist
Elimination
Rockfest

NOTE: just play the notes on the main account to be safe, that is what I did. You don't need to worry about hitting a note on all 4 controllers, just your main account. I played song 2 once for every game type because its 2 minutes and 2 seconds.

When you get into the game type, just choose one song, make sure it is short and complete it. press green to continue to the next screen to show your stats with your main account with 5 stars in the lead to your other three controllers at 3 each. Press blue and move onto the next gametype.

Step 8.) Your main account should have a total of 35 points or stars. Back out to the menu where you get to sign in your controllers. Press start again and go back into the selection screen and this time start with the gametype of Team Pro Face Off.

Step 9.) Complete these play lists down the order the same way you did in step 7.

Team Pro Face Off
Team Momentum
Team Streakers
Team Do or Die
Team Perfectionist
Team Elimination
Team Rockfest

Follow the tips from step 7 to do the same exact in this game type. Just hit notes on your main account and you should be fine.

Step 10.) Finally, you should have another 35 stars on your main account.
Go back to the menu where you set up your controllers and switch them out to have a guitarist, bassist, vocalist, and a drummer on expert. Sign them all in as your main account, guest 1, guest 2, and guest 3. Head into Band Vs Band. Play one song all the way through and the achievement should pop. It did for me =).

If you do not have the equipment, improvise. Find a friend on xbox live and try to get everyone on the same instrument and finish everything like you did in this guide and should have the same effect!

I wonder....I noticed a lot of people who had a corrupted save once in the game had a harder time with this achievement... Cause I had the same problem..

I really don't think there's any need to clear your cache or game saves. By the way you by deleting your game saves sets your stars back at zero. But yea anyways good job on trying to help the community, I'm sure someone out there will find this useful.

Yeah, your more then likely right about most of it, but I was very angry so I decided to just delete everything and combine all the methods together with a "fresh start". Thanks for the compliment by the way.

Unfortunately, I just did everything you said, step by step, and in that order, and nothing unlocked. There was this stupid glitch when I was going through the first set of 4 player stuff, it took me back out to the main menu because it said there was an error with DLC, but I'm pretty sure it saves after every song, so it shouldn't have mattered. This is getting so old by this point I really just need to stop trying. Or they could patch and fix their fucking broken game, but we know that won't happen for another few months, if ever.

EDIT: I went back and play the 4 modes I had played before that glitch with the DLC happened, and it unlocked. So if this happens to anyone, keep track of what you were doing, you may have to play those modes over again.

Clearing the cache is NOT necessary. Clearing the game save IS. I did it without clearing the save, and it didn't work. I did it after clearing the save, and it did. The best thing to do is to move your save data to another memory unit or hard drive, and disconnect it from the system so it doesn't auto load.

Any tips for someone who does want to get 1000, but is not interested in clearing all the save data? I have followed everything except deleteiing cache/save data, I can;t get it :(

randomly finally got it, after another momentum match? Oh well just happy I got it, Only have to do about 200 more quickplay songs and ive got 1000 on this guy.

Well I didn't follow this guide per se, but by myself with 2 instruments, I did each free for all competitive type except Elimination (need more than 2 players).

Then with someone I found here, we each used 2 instruments, so 4 in total, went through each Team mode, team momentum, etc. Then went back and did free for all elimination (which I was missing), then Band v Band, and POP! Achievement!

So the problem is that this achievement isn't clear. I don't think you get it from going on Xbox Live and playing each mode in Rockfest. You have to play these modes individually, locally or with a friend. A menu will come up where you choose each of these modes, not just Rockfest. Don't go "online" and try to do these!

I honestly believe you have to play these modes individually, and then end it all with a Band v Band. That's apparently what worked for the OP and for myself.

Ok when you guys played rockfest did you play every mode in rockfest or just play one song and move on? Because I dont see the point in having to play these modes more then once for this achievement to unlock.

Just do exactly as he says minus deleting your game save and cache.

First make sure youve played a song in Quickplay and Career

**Make sure you at least play a couple notes in each song**

Once youve done that go to Quickplay and use 4 guitars (i used expert).Then do these modes:

Pro Face Off
Momentum
Streakers
Do or Die
Perfectionist
Elimination
Rockfest

Press B to go back to the Lobby. Now use the 4 guitars except this time do the Team Modes:

Team Pro Face Off
Team Momentum
Team Streakers
Team Do or Die
Team Perfectionist
Team Elimination
Team Rockfest

And Finally...Take out your other 3 guitars. Now set up a bass, a mic, and drums.
Sign them in as guests and put all players on expert. (best chance of finding opponents)

Now press Orange and go into Band vs Band. Wait for the other band to be set up.

Finish a song and the achievement should pop up.

Using Song 2 by blur it should take about 45 mins.

Sorry about the double post,but now I am doing it with one friend, and I started with PRO FACE OFF, but when I finished PRO FACE OFF, I went back to the lobby and start with MOMENTUM... So when I fnished MOMENTUM, I push blue bottom and start choosing the other ones...

Will I still getting the achievement?

@ above poster: Yea you should be able to get it that way no problem, just make sure you play at-least one note in each song otherwise it might not unlock.

The Rock Fest ones can be done with 2 people.

Only Elimination Requires 3 people

And the Team ones do require 4 people.

well, i'm stuck, and this is what i have done so far:

-played the career a lot

-played a few Quickplay songs. some custom, some DLC, some disc

-went through every 2 player mode with a friend

-went through the team modes with a friend

-got all 4 instruments, and invited friend into lobby, and played about 4 Band v Band matches, no achievement.

-now i have gone back and played the two player modes again to no avail

-played 4 out of the 5 modes that come up when you DO search for Xbox Live Players. Pro-Face Off, Team Pro-Face Off, Rockfest, Team Rockfest. Can't find another Band v Band yet, but I have played a few already, but it is when i invited someone too.

besides that other Band v Band, the only thing i can think of is

a) i missed elimination

b) replaying elimination, face-off, and others in Rockfest is required

c) need to redo Team modes for some dumb reason

any suggestions?

Achievement popped after the first Band v Band song. As far as I can tell, the only difference from what I did before was playing every mode in a single session.

Just once. I picked each item from the menu once, Face-off through Rockfest, then backed out and did it again for the team modes.

I just did every game type but Band v Band in order and didn't get it, however, I have the Rocktopus achievement so it's quite obvious i've played a Band v Band. Nice achievement.

Am I missing something or is there a way to sign in 4 guitars without actually having 4 guitars. I have two, but in old GH's you could sign in a controller and play as a guitar. Is this what you mean, or do I have to actually find someone else to do this with that has 2 guitars as well.

I did exactly what this guy did.

Non-Team Modes > Back out > Team Modes > Back out, Sign in > Band v Band > Achievement!!

Just be patient with the Band v Band matchmaking. Took me FOREVER to find another vocalist, but I found one after 10 min of searching.

nice, thank you so much OP. I used this method with 2 of my own guitars and two from a friend online. this thread really needs to be stickied.

this really seems to be the best way to get this stupid glitchy achievement. The achievement didn't unlock for me until after I did ANOTHER band vs. band, even though I had already done band vs. band many times before that day. I highly recommend using this method for anyone out there going for this achievement.
