I've tried everything, even the default "Any" search.

It's hopeless. I figured online would save this game after a short ass campaign.

Well, this may be a dumb suggestion, but sometimes it happens: Are you sure you are connected to the internet?

If so, then go to Multiplayer and watch the scrolling text at the bottom. Does it say that S8 online is currently unavailable? If so, wait a minute or two. Does it change to stuff about the Stats portal, servers, and XServer? If so, go to Custom Match, put Ranked to Yes and everything else to Any. Search for that. Hope that pulls something up. Good luck and let me know what happens.

What I use all the time:

Weapons
Assault Rifle
Rocket Launcher

Gear
Grenades
Repair tool

Passive Modules
Armor Plating x2
Anvil Rounds x1
Lock-On Booster x2
Shield Booster x2
Polarity Charger x2
Gyro Stabilizer x2

A good all around loadout. I just run around hacking/capping/defusing CPs, killing people from both close-up and pretty far away, defending CPs and attacking them as well. Basically, you can do whatever you want with this loadout. While, you won't survive a good attack (like 3+ people attacking you), you can survive one-on-one pretty well. I think it is a good start loadout. Good luck.
