Modern Warfare 2 Prestige goody was originally a fake flashbang

Rather than include a fully-functional pair of night vision goggles, Modern Warfare 2's Prestige Edition was originally due to contain a fake flashbang and a set of dogtags.

"It started out with just a cool stylized case with a fake flashbang and some dogtags, but everyone does dogtags and cool cases. We wanted something that blew you way sic," said Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling speaking to IGN.

"We had a lot of really cool ideas, but nothing ever topped night vision goggles. We started out small and the longer we spent going around the table and asking the community for input the more and more insane it became."

You got that right, Robert.

But if you want one, you ought to get your order in now before it's too late. Robert confirmed that the Prestige Edition will only receive one production run, and is a strictly limited product.

"We decided from the beginning that we want this to be for the hardcore fans and early adopters. The fact that it is actually limited is one of the coolest parts, which is why we've individually numbered every copy.

"It was important to us that this be a true collectors' edition and as such, we do one run, and it's finished. The Prestige Edition is NOT something you're going to be seeing on the cheap 2 months after launch."

The Prestige Edition is exclusive to HMV.com, and won't be available to purchase anywhere else. You ought to head over there sharpish if you're prepared to lay down the £120 asking price - the Xbox 360 version has already sold out.

Right now modern warfare 2 is right now locked with flashpoint in the dumbest CE competition. I liked the idea of a flashbang over fake expesnive NVG's, but it still sounds better than flashpoints CE which is a helmet and some dog dags. Wtf am i going to do with a helmet?

I agree a gold desert eagle would have been way cooler sitting there, I just think these NVGs sitting on soaps head wont look that cool sitting there cause I wouldnt wear them all the time....but I think NVGs are cooler than a flashbang

Well bearing in mind that a replica Glock 12 is ~£150 then I don't think that would be viable since it would be even more expensive than that...

see, i want something i can use wither with my console, or with my game, i think its kind of a cool idea with the NVG, but for example, like when the halo 3 SE came out with an almost life sized replica of master chiefs (or Spartans) helmet, they wasted a perfectly obvious opportunity, incorporate the 360 mic system somehow into that damn helmet, and make it wearable, hell they could even add another 20 bucks, because that is something i could actually use, and i actually hate halo 3 now, and i would still wear it to this day if it had a mic in it...

the point is, they need to start getting creative and somehow make these little SE/LE props/extras incorporated either into gameplay, or used as some kind of accessory for my console (and not just some controller with cool graphics, yeah that's better than dog tags, but still)

its a real shame i didnt get the prestige edition coz i realy wanted it but i didnt want to dish out like an extra 50 quid it would have been nice to put the dogtags in the hardened edition so i feel im getting something more than cod 1 and an art book tbh but what an i do :(

well not really because they could have probably made it cheaper because of the mass amount they would have made them in..thats what they have obviously done with the goggles they have made them on the cheap to give away as "collectors items".
