This Game is Just...Terrible

As well as all other recent Guitar Heros. I hope I'm not the only one that thinks the GH3 and Aerosmith highway was extremely beast. For some reason, I have trouble with timing on this highway and I can get 5* on TTFAF on Expert GH3 guitar but on here I can only get 3 flipping stars. It makes me quite angry because I'd like to have 700+ gamerscore in all my games and this one just stops me...

Anyone else think that the highway in this game is odd?

its because the game is run off the same engine as guitar hero metallica and as guitar hero world tour. you have to be alot more accurate now, as in GH3 you could hammer on notes a little earlier or a little later.

You asked someones opinion and he gave it. He is right. All games past GH3 and GH:A require much tighter playing. GH 3 didn't require any tight playing at all. In fact you could play in a sloppy way, this requires you to be precise.

Also that was my take on the games. GH3 is a lot of peoples favorite game, doesn't mean every game after is crap, it's just all about mechanics. I know I had problems switching from Gears 1 to 2, so why should all other games be different?

I think it turned out really good as well. It is just since it has the GH name (and they bring out a new game every month) people dislike. You just have to give it patience and get into it. I liked GHWT at first for god sakes, then I went off it. But now I love it I feel it isn't as bad as people say.

But honestly, you're complaining that the notes are too hard to hit. They're not- they're on time with the song. The problem with GH3 is that you could hold down a HOPO 10 seconds in advance and you'd get credit for hitting it on time when you clearly didn't, which has obviously spoiled you. And then when you play the game it was meant to be played (see: how it was originally, they messed it up in GH3 and have since fixed it) you complain that it's terrible.

And again, GH3 is my favorite game. Fun charts, good songs, and good online (the WT online and beyond is dreadful) but I still acknowledge that it takes the least skill to play. If that truth is too unpleasant for you, don't come back

it has added bass, drums and mic for some of the earliest gh songs
im not really a big ghwt fan, think the setlist put me off it :p
but yeah, timing in ghsh and ghm is more in sync with the song requiring you hit the notes at pretty much the same time as done in song
gh3 is probs one of my top 3 gh games but the timing in it is much looser

I think drunk monkeys on crack made the achievements. Only 100G for completing all careers on Expert? Are you fucking kidding me? TTFAF Expert drums is the biggest pain in the ass ever.

Also, only 35G for doing all careers when it was 150G before, which would fit best for this game since it has so many songs. This just pisses me off..

I don't feel like GH: M, GH: SH, and GH: WT require more "accuracy." Then again, I try and be as accurate as possible when I'm playing. I mainly attribute me getting much better because of WT. I prefer the style and gameplay of the WT engine. That's just my personal opinion.

Also, the reason TTFAF on SH is harder is because the lack of hammer-ons and increase of purple notes. I think it's a lot harder to keep a streak because of those two factors. I never really felt that I had to be more accurate while playing the game.

While I too much prefer them being guitar/bass only games, just because the last few have not been so doesn't make them horrible.

I don't really know how anyone can complain about the highway, it's just cosmetic and reflects which character you're using. I haven't compared them, but either way it shouldn't matter. I'm not looking at the fretboard, I'm looking at the noes ON the fretboard.

As for tracklists since GH3, only WT's was shit. I don't even like Metallica but I've enjoyed playing the songs so far (just started today), and the G/SH tracklist is just a combination of the best songs from games up to GH3 except for RB and TTFAF (those were added for difficulty and for popularity, not for quality). In the end though it's all personal opinion and you can't blame the makers that more artists are wanting to be involved- thus they are branching out from tradition. That said though, the GH5 list looks fucking horrible so far.

As for new gameplay elements since GH3, I'll concede that most of them are crap.

For guitar we have the long notes that you have to continue to hold while hitting other notes, which is what I've wanted since GH2 (except when it's green and orange, that stretch hurts) and the slider notes. Like Rock Band's solos, I like that you can play those sections without strumming, but dislike both the slider bar and the solo buttons. Can't they keep those sections but get rid of these stupid extra features on the guitar?

For bass we just have open notes. I'm sort of mixed here, they add an extra challenge to what is otherwise the usual boring instrument but they just feel so awkward (to me anyway) especially the HOPO open notes (what are they even, HO or PO?) - which means not strumming and not holding a note- WTF is that? Get rid of those particular notes I say but keep em otherwise.

For drums we have the "held" notes that you have to hit repeatedly and the free sections. Get rid of both- they're terrible.

And for vocals we have freeform (like drums) and those sections where you make noise for starpower. Also both stupid- trash them both

I like the way the notes look in GH3 and in all the newer ones pretty equally but if I had to choose it would probably be GH3 because it is by far the best guitar hero. But I hate some of the highways in that game that make it harder to see the notes, that really pisses me off.

All the games were awesome except for world tour, the songs in that game were terrible IMO.

...Strangely on-topic-- or on the original topic, anyway-- maybe I'm the only one here who thinks the WT and Metallica highway is easier than GH3. The timing seems to me to be a bit looser, and more forgiving on the hammer-ons. After saying that, I'll admit that I'm not very good at these games: I play on Expert because the other levels are too boring, but I think GHII and Metallica are the only ones I've been able to beat the career on so far... GH3 - can't get Raining Blood (the mosh part-- has no tempo! :mad:) World Tour - can't manage to beat some of the boss battles or Hot for Teacher. :(

Alright, I finally got 4* on this song because the Xplorer owns for fast strumming. I near FC'd the intro with strumming and came out with 67k, prior to getting around 45k every time before it. I still stick with my opinion on this game though - mostly because I will never get TTFAF on Expert drums again after doing it in quickplay. :(

It's not that hard to be able to do all instruments on expert... it really isn't. Guitar/bass is piss if you started with the earlier Guitar Hero's, obviously. Singing is just... singing, easy as anything. Drums are fun so playing them occasionally inproves your skill no end. I'm no expert drummer but I can beat 50% of the songs on RB2 on expert so I'm getting there and I've barely played them tbh. It's not difficult.

I find it entertaining that everyone who can't get the difficult achievements says that they are stupid achs, but anyone who can get them thinks that they are great achs. Personally I think a few of them are good, but guitar hero achievements have been getting just as repetitive as the games. At least things are looking up for GH5.

I can't wait for Van Halen. The 5* everything on expert for drums and vocals will be quite the challenge for me, guitar/bass will of course still be piss easy.

All I need for this is Bloody Feet (which will take some practise) and all I need for WT is reach level 50. I still need to do Metallica as well but I know I can 1000 that. Then I can say the same as Initiated.
