Just wanted to know what you guys think of the game in general. Characters that got left out, fighting system, super bars, not being able to charge them. I love king of fighters but i'm sad to say that I'm a little dissapointed in this game, myself. What do you guys think?

Maybe I'm just new to KOF, but so far I'm only thinking it's mediocre... I might return it if I can. BlazBlue is just so much better...

Maybe i was expecting too much... i don't know. but the roster is small. There are only 5 stages and there is no impossibly, ridiculous final boss. (well honestly i really don't miss the boss...LOL) Blazblue is awesome and I thought that the was the start of maybe another solid run for 2D fighters and was waiting with anticipation for this one. Is the online really as bad as i've been hearing.

The game as a package is barebones, but the gameplay is fantastic. If the forthcoming patch fixes the lag in the netplay I'll be extremely happy with my purchase.

Your probably right. A good multiplayer always soothes. :)

I think my expectations were way too high for this. I mean, I was content with 22 characters, but when you get down to the basics of the game, it's the same thing as every other KOF. Including a hell of a lot more characters like 98 did would have really made it seem as fresh, or maybe just more chaotic. As it stands, it's just a bit barebones.

It IS the Best KOF to Date. That being said there's a lot of work to do still. They need to first of all, fix the online which I'm told they are making a patch for. Second The characters need a bit more moves. 3 moves each on average isn't good. Third obviously, more selectable characters would be good. and Lastly more modes and a better interface for the menu. The graphics are what they are. Personally I like them but I feel they need to be scaled down. The sprites are too big hence, pixelation. I think they hopefully will have it all down by KOFXIII. XII is a good game in it's core. If your looking for bells and whistles go play blazblue.

Why is the game so laggy online and why is it so slow.

I didn't have any lag when playing against someone with a good connection.
I LOVE the new gameplay elements. The counters are really cool and really easy to learn.
I would place this game right between SFIII and SFIV in terms of technical difficulty. The system feels deeper and yet more accessible than previous KOF games.
I've played ALL of the KOF games and this one is my favorite in terms of gameplay.

This game is no where near SF IV or BlazBlue status...........
The combos are bull shit, every figher only has like 3 moves and one special move. There is only like 5 or 6 stages to fight on ( which does'nt really matter ) but what's that leave you?? Same shit over and over and over and over Oh Yea and over and over and over and over.....you see where this is go'n
22 roster sounds great for Street Fighter but not for KoF, Iori was my fav. to fight with now I don't even know who the fuck he is. Non of his moves are what they should be. He has no projectile...are you serious??
Graphics are pretty sweet but I never really care about graphics more for gameplay....and the controls are clunky and slow as hell.
If SNK want's to sale this game I suggest they lower the price to $30 or less because $60 is a fuck'n rip off.
I can't even fuck'n still believe people thought this shit was gonna compete with Street Fighter IV.
Like someone else's topic " This is not KoF :( "

Well im glad you americans got this game before us in the UK. I was looking forward to this but reading all your thoughts i will give it a miss. Now im just going to have to wait for Blazblue to come to UK (Which im not happy as the US already have it) & Tekken.

I think it's a overall fun game. The combat is smooth, the roster is alright, the online is pretty good, and it's balanced. But one thing I hate is how cheap Kyo and Joe got. Also I think it's stupid that everyone keeps comparing it to BB, becasue if just compare 2 random games I can say Marvel vs Capcom is better that BB, or Killer instinct is better that BB It makes no sense.

I say bond fire lets take all the copy's to SNK burn them and tell them they have to redo the game or even better make an actual KOF game. From now on KOF 12 will be the missing # in the series, after 11 goes 13.

Yeah maybe for some people, for me XII is a great game and there is nothing you can do about it. So what it's a bare bone direct arcade port with only two extra characters and no story mode. The core gamelay is still the same and this is the thing that makes us love KoF games. If you disappointed in the roster, welll there isn't much you can do about it, SNKP had to start somewhere right, next KoF means more characters, more stages and more everything. Consider KoF XII as a KoF 94, it's a series rebirth, they wanted to start over and I'm really happy they did.

You're taking the comparisons too literally. They are merely comparing fighting games in general, the fun factor, the gameplay, etc. In those regards, to some the game is just not as good, or is better than the others.
Keep in mind, for the longest time King of Fighters was intended to be an alternative to the likes of MvC, so the comparison was inevitable. The team vs team motif etc.
Personally, out of all the games now available, having finally played KoF 12, gimme MvC.

I personally like this more than BlazBlue in terms of gameplay.
But I agree with everything else....shoddy online, and as many have said, a "barebones" package.
But I still love this game even with the shortened roster of fighters (they'll come out with KOF XIII in a couple years with at least 10-15 new characters, so I'm not worried).
