This may sound dumb but do I need to make a different game save for each character or can I save on top of the characters I allready have?
I have Inphyy to level 9 and I am afraid to start a new character due to this.
I made a new save for each character, unfortunately my system got screwed up when I accidentally saved over Dwingvatt.

YES! If you save over a character, ALL their information will be gone. I did this after I beat my first character, then went back to try and get her to level 9 and had to start all over again. Each character requires their own save slot.

Yeah, I beat the game with each character, and then I started leveling them up to a level 9 and my hard drive had issues. I have lost two gamer profiles and almost every arcade game, plus lots of saves including one of my NNN saves. Sigh. Hard drive technology is pretty basic at this point, it is sad that Microsoft can't provide a hard drive that is at least as reliable as my 5 year old laptop which hasn't had a bad sector yet.
I have not had any problems with the memory card, so my standard approach now is to move any saves that I am using to the memory card and when I am done playing the game for a while put them back on the hard drive. Unfortunately, it doesn't work for every game, but it seems to be working as a general approach so far.

There is nothing wrong with my harddrive, I just saved over another file because I thought I was on the load selection screen and saved over it =(

You dont have to start over...If you ever have hard drive issues...erase your gamertag file then recover it. Microsoft saves your game saves too for you to access them at diffrent locations.

How exactly would they save your games if you are offline then? And why would anyone need a hard drive if good old Microsoft kept all of your saves for you?
Confirm this and I will eat your hat.
