I've been trying to get on the site on and off for the past 3 hours, and evertime I try to enter the forums through the homepage I get a "Database Error" message. I use Opera, and decided to try IE and it worked. I'm using it right now to access the site, but everything is loading extremely slow. Do I have a problem here or is something going on with the site?

I've been having the problem off and on for the last few hours. Firefox user if it helps at all.

Yeah, the problem was that we had a "max users online at the time" setting, so our server was full for a while since we were linked everywhere (see new record at the bottom =)).

The settings for the database server is tweaked a little bit now and the server should handle more concurrent connections for the next time.

I'll also install a new caching system as an extra precaution.

Gotcha... The site is really kicking some ass here! And btw Raz, I was a big Mozilla fan until I got Opera, and I'll never go back. I recommend that everyone check it out.

"We" and yourself in particular I might add! I know this is hella-off-topic but I started the thread so :p I really am glad to see the site and some of it's members gaining notoriety in the the industry!

I use firefox and get the database error quite a lot. Just got it a few mins ago, so I don't think its fixed. (Didn't work in IE either).

I just noticed that myself and looking into the cause =/

Don't know whether you've discovered the cause yet, but strangely it happens about the same time every day. Just before 19:30 GMT.

I got it today and yesterday, but it never once happened to me before yesterday.

Yeah, looks like the site just crashed again for about 10-15 minutes.

Just too many people loving it maybe? :woop:

It seems that 2:30 PM is our peak time. We are averaging 175 people a day... and that is strictly the forums. Either way, we are aware of the problem, and Routine is probably working on it as we speak.

it's because we all kick so much ass.... and the site is too cool for the internet to handle it cleanly. al gore should have invented it better (the internet..NOT the site).:p

Yeah. "unfortunately" we've gotten so many people lately its time to upgrade.
With the new features of the site, like the new screenshots, leaderboard stats by game, more screenshots to the main pages etc, we're maxing our server.

It's awesome that we're getting that many users, so I don't mind getting a new server.

I've just ordered a server that is top notch and once again, we shouldnt 't have any problems until we go really big. The new one is unfortunately twice as expensive and cos $248 a month. But it's worth it imho and I don't mind paying more to get our community to the next level and launch more features to the website.

They should start setting it up soon (needed to get some hardware first). The old server will continue to run up until they have mirrored this server to the new one and replaced it. I guess it will be about 2-5 minutes downtime (if any), if the server will be in the same rack as the old one. So I hope you can hold on maybe a day more or so, and we'll be back 100%.
