During an E3 remarks event moments ago, Activision Blizzard said the November
launch of Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare
2 (http://www.thatvideogameblog.com/tag/modern-warfare-2/) will be the largest entertainment launch of any kind when it launches this
November. Prior to that remark, the company also made clear it will be more
aggressive on downloadable content in the future. No details were given but it’s
safe to say with the massive
success the recent World at War DLC (http://www.thatvideogameblog.com/2009/04/01/call-of-duty-world-at-war-dlc-sells-lots-sets-records/), we can expect those maps to keep
rolling in.

OH Yes the launch is going to be huge with im gussing all gaming retailers doing a midnight launch and if Asda's is going to be selling it at £30 like it did with Resi 5 and Cod WaW then i can see the Que being miles long lol

Sweet.

I can't remember where I read it, but the 'top dog' of IW was asked what MP was going to be like. He paused, and then just said something like "I can just tell you it'll be fucking awesome"
I think I'm slightly smitten by IW /blush /blush

ha ha what a legend =D
and the news on the DLC is great, the map pack for COD4 was decent but they could have released so many more..... =D i love DLC i trust that IW won't do the old trick of releasing the game then releasing the "new" content a week later =/

A game will always have a few nicks and glitches in it when it first goes on shelves. But in MW2 I know the first day they will be patching shit up to make it an experience never to forget.

I like DLC, but I think Call of Duty 4 did a good job with its single map pack. They had three good multiplayer maps and one bad one. Call of Duty: World at War had two good maps and four bad ones (not counting the zombie maps). Of course, those are just my opinions, and I hope that Map Pack 3 changes that. Anyway, I would rather have a small amount of good DLC than a flood of garbage.

No glitches would be good for a start. Did I hear they were doing something about modded controllers?

I can see hundreds of thousands playing Modern Warfare 2 on release. One of them will be me. Bring on the DLC. :)

If WaW Map Packs can sell 1 million in a week, MW2 Map Packs can sell probably 2-3 million in that time

Where does it say flashback maps? As far as I'm aware, IW haven't released a single detail on their DLC. It could be weapon packs or camos for all we know. Hell, it could be anything; this is such a fantastic opportunity for Activision to milk millions of fans at once, I'm kinda banking on us seeing more than just maps.

That will be ridiculously easy. Fire delays on pistols (small enough nobody will actually notice), no burst firing weapons. Done.

He is just saying he hopes they have a flashback map pack for MW2.

I doubt that anyone should have trouble getting a copy.

Hopefully no new achievements. I am still pissed off about Gears 2 having 1750 now. My 800+ when it was just 1000 was a fair amount but now it is barely 50%. Same with WaW. I only bought Map pack 1 and that is the only one I am gonna buy ever for it and now the total for that waste of money is 1500 and my 505 is like 33% instead of 50%.

Lots of DLC would be awesome. I'd like to see more than just map packs, though (even though I want those, too). Something along the lines of the extra scene that just came out for GOW2, maybe.

Lol, IW and Activision Blizzard are so full of themselves. While it's probably true, it's still a very arrogant statement...

I plan on going to the midnight launch just so I can call myself a true nerd. Either that or I could call myself a fan...

But yeah. I hope they release lots of DLC like WaW is doing. They seem to be pretty successful.

Wonder how much they'll be trying to charge for it all.
Should get it for free if you pay £120 for the Prestige Edition...

This is what I'm thinking.

Activision is a money-grabbing company, that now have this huge franchise.
It'd be foolish to not milk us with DLC of all kinds.

And with a game of this calibre, I don't mind whatsoever about being milked. Hell I'd probably buy DLC shoes for CoD4 if they offered it. There are so many possibilities to extend the game and make money.

I think it's quite likely even if they don't choose to 'milk' us, that we'll see some spec-ops levels added in DLC.

agreed... i have heard statements (cant remember where or from whom) but that there will be like 2-4 DLCs, not sure exactly what each of those will be, but i don't want to have to shell out like $50 to get the full experience. and no i dont have to get any DLC, and im more than sure that the game i get that morning will be more than enought game for me to have fun with, but i just dont want to be left in the dark on map packs etc. because i is broke...

but i agree, not sure if i will get the prestige, but if i do i think i should get codes for all the launch dlc as well as the other stuff included
